September 15, 200717 yr Released this week? Differences between the Z-Steel just introduced in the U.S. and the Z-Steel II?
September 15, 200717 yr The Z-Steel released in the US is the 1st Gen Japanese Z-Steel that was out in Summer 2005 in Japan (2 years old). So it's a pretty old model by Japanese standards. The new Z-Steel II is packed with all Srixon's latest technology including the starburst face. The new Z has a thinner stronger face for even higher ball speeds and the starburst face increases the sweet spot for a much larger hitting area. The CG was also placed deeper back in in the head increasing MOI and trajectory. However, because this wood is geared towards "Athletes, or upper class players" Low handicappers as we call them here, Srixon made sure that the higher trajectory was made to be a powerful piercing one that can over come windy conditions. The design of the head is said to minimize side spin and allow the player to play the ball/direct the ball with better control.
April 7, 200816 yr The Z-Steel released in the US is the 1st Gen Japanese Z-Steel that was out in Summer 2005 in Japan (2 years old). So it's a pretty old model by Japanese standards. That sux arse for Srixon US customers.
April 8, 200816 yr I hit the Z-Steel (original) over the weekend....I have to say, one of the best fairway woods for me over the past few years. Comes off the face pretty hot, very good off the tee, able to hit it high or low. If the Z-Steel II is an improvement, must be quite a club! Do not read much about Srixon, but after hitting this club, I will definitely be looking a lot closer at Srixon.

When it comes to big brand names in Japan and money spent on R&D and marketing of their products, the two top dogs are Tourstage and Srixon. The Srixon line has long been known to appeal to the better athlete golfer, they make now GI clubs... they leave that to XXIO.
