+TourSpecGolfer
TC-1000 Fourteen's new player cavity back model the TC-1000 has had excellent reviews in all the leading Japanese golf magazines, most noted for its super soft feel I cant wait to give them range time against the new 550 tomorrow morning. The 550 has had excellent reviews also and I can see why, both models incorporate some classic time tested features as seen in such classics as the MR-23's, 300 Forged and many others while introducing fourteens quality manufacturing and materials into one hard to beat package. They both don't have the thinnest top line or the least amount of offset but each has its own special way about them. If your in the market for a sweet sweet set of Forged CB's look no further. K2_2
Gocchin, The 550's look very, very nice in person! I like the shape of the 1000 when setting up, but the 550's are supposed to be much more forgiving, and I really liked the cavity detail on the 550's. Duffer19
My friend in Hong Kong just bought one of the few remaining sets of 770 forged (coming from a Beres 901) and was told the forged cavity line is being replaced by TC1000 and 550 with the old 770 somewhere in the middle. Since he is a 9 or 10 hdcp, the shop owner who is also a good player, said he might not be happy with the amount of offsets of the 550 and the 770 while bing discontinued, would represent a good compromise (a good player but is getting older) bewteeen the two new models. All Fourteen forged cavities seem to have thicker top line then the Epons.
ClubHoUno
Chris, you're amazing at taking great pics of clubs - especially iron heads. The TC 1000 looks great, only the thick top line is a bit of a downer. Really like the satin finish on the TC 1000.......wow.....top quality finish
daamartin
Hey Chris, great pics. Could you please post similar pics of the TC1000 PW please? I don't mind the slightly thicker top line at all _ more mass up high is better for me I am actually more concerned about approach shots not ballooning with the short irons Chris, also eager to hear your honest appraisal of how they play wrt similar offerings! gocchin
I also don't mind the "thicker" topline... it is by no means chunky I think it's just thicker than expected for low and mid/low handicapper type irons. I still have my eyes on those 550's.

+TourSpecGolfer
Guys after time on the range against my AF301's I think the 550's might just take the spot. Its been a while since an iron has tempted me like this, and these may be a tad bigger but the feel is so pure for such a forgiving club. Feels as good if not better than most USDM blades on the market. Against the Miura 202's that were also put up against these the 550 is dumb friendly to hit and feels better IMO. So here it goes, I will be swapping out shafts for maybe black golds or Tour Concepts or perhaps even S400's this week. I also went ahead and put the brushed satin look w/ golf paintfill into the works!
daamartin
CP how did you find them against the TC1000s? Do the 1000s provide the lower trajectory as stated? How do they compare to your AF301s? Very sorry for bomarding you with Qs, but as you will have gathered by now I'm keen.

gocchin
Chris told me today that he's been focusing on testing these irons (which is why he hasn't hit the EMB yet). He said that they simply perform amazing... perhaps not the most workable irons but in feel and performance, soft and straight as he put it... I can live with that. gus
The 1000's look amazing; Chris you mentioned offset, as a reference would you say on line with my Tourstage CB 2's or my PRGR 900MD's? I'm thinking based on the topline comments they are on line with a 690.cb or something like that? These are drop dead gorgeous sticks, I just hope for me personally not too much offset.
