Duffer19
Any Spec or technical difference between this new one and the exisiting 460? edit: Any Moi figures? Edited February 1, 2008 by Duffer19
gocchin
Very different, still has the traditional shape but through design changes including an all new cup face with variable thickness, there is even more spring like effect on this one compared to the 460. It also has slightly more horizontal MOI 4300>4100 and quite a bit more vertical MOI (2922), even more than a super forgiving high MOI driver like the JPX E500 (2680 and the 460 is 2592). Through robot hitting tests, the new 101 has less distance loss from off center hits. The variable thickness face has a thicker sweetspot in the middle and thinner but larger/wider perimeter... think of a slingshot. This was done using an all new chemical milling process at Epon. Fancy stuff. (^_^) The Driver also has an all new sole design and aesthetics as you can see. It's also a slightly heavier head at 199g. Initial numbers show it's a lower launching driver than the 460 as well with less spin.
LSeca
This is the most elegant looking driver I have ever seen, classy and not over done, a nice departure from many of the other brands right now. Details right down to the nice ferrel are a nice touch. I look forward to reading the review on how it plays.

If so, I'm upgrading to this head as soon as possible. This is by far the most beautiful driver Epon has come out with. Love the fact it has a slightly heavier weight to it as well. Chris, any report from your 18 holes?
Barry_757
This is one cool looking driver. I like the smooth contoured chrome soleplate with no screws, no plates or plugs on the bottom. It gives it a nice clean style look, like the old 380. I also like the gold, it'll look good beside my X-model wedges that have gold paintfill. I'll have to find another place to hide the long brown box from the wife.
deman
I love the look of the new Epon driver. I am interested in hearing about the sound and feel. I go back and forth between a the Epon 460 and the Epon 380. Love the feel and sound of the 380 but find the 460 a little more forgiving. It would be great if the new 460 had the feel and sound of the 380.
gocchin
B all driver heads coming out of Japan are now USGA conforming, the AF-101 included!
+TourSpecGolfer
Yup Even Yururi's new Prototype driver just recieved USGA approval. Anyway had 20 holes in with this puppy yesterday. Feel: less hollow than the Epon 460ZR yet a tadd less spongy at impact. I favor the 460ZR's feel but the performance of the AF101 is a different story. You can barely feel the ball hit the face, It absorbs the impact and launches hot. Distance: The 9.5 square face 101 with Mach Line 7081 Stiff I now hit got about 5-8ish more yards distance overall. The ball comes off the face a hair lower yet it seems faster or with more rebound. I think the AF101 gets about the same distance as the EMB. Visual: It looks smaller than the 460ZR but its actually the same size. It has a deep face and the 9.5 loft comes standard with a square angle while the 10.5 is 0.5 closed, remember custom face option is available. Everything about this driver is an improvement visually. The large E logo on the toe, the clean sole, and its playeresque appearance. Forgiveness: Just as forgiving as the 460ZR with a slightly smaller face hitting area, based on what I experienced yesterday. Not as forgiving as the EMB but more forgiving than many of the high MOI drivers from other JDM or USDM brands. I got a very piercing trajectory with the perfect amount of forward kick and roll. I am going to try and stick with the 9.5 model although i usually use a 10.5. I am so very satisfied with the 7081 Mach Line installed. I wont be changing, Epon has a good match with this driver. The 7081 has a decent amount of kick feel from the butt end. The tip seems very stable and did not give me any unexpected results. If you guys have any specific questions let me know. Goshinboku
Chris, this sounds right up my alley, while I love the 460P, I would really like to try one of these EPON drivers. I do like the crown pics of this much better than the others, I looks more pearish in shape to my eyes. you mentioned custom face options are available? what about shafts? For sure on the shafts, Epon has the best selection of any OEM, Mach Line, DREV, Fujikura, Tour AD, Axiv, etc.. etc.. Also the AF101 plays true to loft unlike many other drivers on the market.
