Mjr. D
For the record, the Taylormade Burner Forged Irons are the best overall irons i've ever played. I bought a set about a month ago and have now played 7 rounds with them. Enough for me to conclude they are a combination of the best feeling, forgiving, looking and performing irons i've ever used and i've used A LOT of different irons. They don't feel like a pure muscle back forged iron........ they don't have that same feeling of density when struck, but they're super soft, they're super forgiving no matter where on the face you strike the ball and they're very long. They also look fantastic. They can worked left and right but they will absolutely hit everything straight if that's the intention. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these. Suburb iron. And I don't even particularly like Taylormade. Any Questions, please ask.
gocchin
They are definitely one good looking iron and a great balance of feel and forgiveness. I was very impressed when I demoed them especially with looks and forgiveness. If I swap out my ONOFF I am seriously considering a set with Bassara graphite. I think tourspecgolfer really likes these as well and is also considering a set but he probably wants a set of Yamaha. (^_^)

Far better than I even anticipated. I think you ought to give them a try. It's hard not to hit the ball well with these. Weather it's pured or a little thin.... it's going a long ways and straight as an arrow. Amazing iron.

sandee11
Hi,just wondering how are these compare to 2008 forged tp?thanks
Goodsie
I just want to throw my penny in the pot about the Burner Forged Irons. Several sets have come through the Shop for fine tuning and am very impressed with the design, fit and finish of these Irons. They are well balanced and the weight progression is right on the money from 3 to PW. One customer let hit his Burners after they were finished and I gotta' tell you, they are smooth and very long. He had me fit his set with the KBS Tour and this combination with the Burner made a precision set of shot making lasers. Sometimes something comes along that just work and the Burner Forged Irons certainly fit that category. Winners!!

18th Legion
Hi,just wondering how are these compare to 2008 forged tp?thanks If you check out the specs, you'll see that the Burner Forged have the nearly the same generous offset as the '08 TPs, opposed to the 2009 TP Forged. The lofts are a degree stronger and two degrees in the PW. It looks like to me by the way the weight is positioned, that these would be more forgiving and longer. I have a set of 2008 TP Forged and may be ordering the Burner Forged after we first see what is coming from the 2010 Tokyo Golf Show. There has been word of a R9 Tp Forged in Japan and the U.S. Edited December 7, 2009 by 18th Legion
parputt
I have the 08 TPs Japan and the offset is not much at all.If the Burners are comprable to those as far as offset AND you get a longer more forgiving and acuurate club then I say winner as well. Well, offset is always subject to each person, but let's compare Face Progression for some of the top TM Irons. Players Cavity Back R9 Japan/R9 TP:................3I=3.2, 6I=4.8, PW=5.5 Tour Preferred:..................3I=3.6, 6I=4.4, PW=5.0 R7TP:....................................3I=2.4, 6I=3.6, PW=5.0 TP Forged TP 2009:..............................3I=3.2, 6I=4.3, PW=5.2 TP 2008:..............................3I=2.4, 6I=3.1, PW=4.1 R7 2007:..............................3I=2.4, 6I=3.1, PW=4.1 Game Improvement Cavity Back R9 Max Japan/R9:............4I=1.8, 6I=2.8, PW=4.8 Burner Forged 08/09:......3I=1.1, 6I=2.3, PW=3.9 R7:........................................3I=0.3, 6I=1.3, PW=2.6 As this illustrates the The TP Forged 2009 is closer to the R9 TP and Tour Preferred, while the TP Forged 2008 and 2007 are on line with the r7 TP in the lower lofts with even a little more offset in the higher lofts. This offset is more generous than you will find in most Players clubs. Clearly the Burner Forged is one of the few Forged Game Improvement irons available. Its offset fits between the old r7 and the new R9 Max. For me, the small additional offset compared to the TP Forged '08 (more so in the lower lofts) may work to my favor. For those used to a Players set up, it is doubtful the Burner Forged will suit your eye. -Now what will the new Burner TP offer? Goodsie
Thanks, 18th, for all the work in posting this comparative info. I printed it out to show my guys who are quibbling about JDM offsets vs USDM offsets that the JDM gear is much closer to a Players club than they think. 3.9 Progressive Offset is not too upsetting to the eye, especially when you are addressing the ball and your chart clearly shows this. Now maybe I can put up my bottle of Rolaids and get more of my better customers to look harder at the JDM offerings. Those who have taken my advice are pounding their chest at the results of the 08/09 Forged Burner.
Henry
Just wondering how these compare in terms of "game improvement irons" with the old ViQ forged irons or even the JPX E 600 forged irons. Gocchin?
gocchin
They are not actually game improvement persay but are along the lines of the ViQ Forged and JPX E600. TM Japan has 3 burner models now the TP, Forged and Standard Burner. TP: Pro/Athlete/Low Handicapper Forged: Mid/low Handicapper Standard: Mid/High Handicapper Is the way they lay out this line. The ViQ forged was a touch on the larger side for a forged iron. The Burner Forged probably has close offset to both the ViQ and JPX, perhaps a touch less according to 18th's numbers above and offers maybe a touch more forgiveness due to its head design. It is definitely a forgiving forged iron that really any level can play.
+TourSpecGolfer
Some input, thinner flatter sole, reduce head size. heel - toe tungsten plugs high up the muscle to jack the weight and heighten COG, traditional lofts, GF initials only. Then you'll have a set of real blades worthy of all the praise. This year Taylormade Japan has put out two amazing releases the Burner Forged which I was able to hit and felt it was not only very forgiving but setup well and felt really good and the Burner TP irons which also feel soft ( not even forged ) and setup like a dream, very little offset, very thin topline and the stock prototype GD shaft makes it feel even better at impact.
