Henry
I have always played with forged irons with my bag now consisting of the JPX E600 forged irons. Recently, I hit an American TM Burner cast iron and noticed the impact was not as "soft" as my forged irons but it certainly felt like it came off the club face faster and did notice a slightly "hard" feeling that was actually pleasing. With that being said, I would like to see if anyone can comment on the differences. I really like the new Tourstage X-BLADE GR IRON but am just wondering what to expect with a cast iron. Thanks. corky3
Quite a bit of feel is actually sound, forged are softer(they ding up more easily) therefore produce a more muted sound. I'm not metallurgist or physicist but I'm not sure a harder feeling club equates to more distance, longer more flexible shafts definately would though. Even forged clubs feel(sound?) different to each other, I went from TS X-Blade CBS's to Epon 302's and the 302's feel so, so soft........ You have to try each type and even model that interests you to find out what is acceptable or pleasing to you. All I know is I couldn't go back to a cast club........ PS there are rumours on other boards that TM is coming out with several new FORGED irons next year, take that for what it's worth. +TourSpecGolfer
I like forging as well but have experienced some great feeling cast products like the old fourteen TB-1000 prototype & the more recent TM burner TP iron. Outside of those not many have impressed me over the years so I still tend to gravitate big time to Forged products.
MatthewC
i've just cast clubs for years many different brands and models during that time. I was happy with them. Then i came accross the tourstage Xblade and it changed my opinion on this for good. Since then i've played the TM forged irons and i love them. The feel of the impact is what i enjoy the most. It feels more "natural". my swing does its thing and there is no abrupt feel at impact. Also ive had neck problems and i noticed somewhat of an ease using forged rather than the harder cast clubs. Of course this is my experience.
