Mjr. D
Emailed this to Gary Gooden today, after receiving my Crazy 435 head with the 50T shaft........ "tuned" by Gary, And i'm not even a fan of Crazy, the name, the graphics and definitely their bulls**t upcharge of $100 for a bloody headcover...... but their stuff performs, i'll tell you that right now. " In all honesty, Gary, I have never hit the ball off the tee like I did today. My distances were off the charts. I'm not exaggerating...... these were my top distances today. Yes I tried swinging on a flatter plane, yes I went to a stronger grip, but I don't care. I've tried every major driver out there, and every major shaft and I've never hit the ball consistently straighter and longer than today. 310 317 345 362 385! 321 367 359 326 Only hit two bad shots with the driver off the tee today, two snap hooks. The feel of the head was very nice. Not the nicest ever, but nice enough. The shafts were incredible. As far as this 80T and all that goes, I don't know... but I've never swung anything as explosive and accurate as this combo. Those are the best shafts i've ever swung. Knocks the Diamana and P9003 into 2nd and 3rd place. Seriously. This setup was dead straight, and so long, it was ridiculous. I don't know what kind of pixy dust you sprinkle on those clubs when you tune them but it is LEGIT. Believe me, i'd tell you if I thought the head/shaft/install sucked but none of them did. All three were the best i've ever encountered. Thanks so much. Scored my second lowest round ever today."

I love it when someone finds something significantly better than they've ever had before. I love my longest yard shaft too. Didn't like the Crazy wedges though.......... jamnguy1
Yay....... I love it when someone finds something significantly better than they've ever had before. I love my longest yard shaft too. Didn't like the Crazy wedges though.......... Shafts are the real deal. I have about 5 of them in different flexes just to find the right one. I do think the crazy wedges are as good as any I've played. I think it just depends on the right setup, and the shafts will perform. Right now, I can't see myself playing any other shafts. +TourSpecGolfer
Nothing beats Crazy & Quadra. When is the PGA Tour going to catch the drift? Maybe Gary can chime in an share the recipe for the magic dust he sprinkled on your club...
Spoon
wow thats crazy! supo67 should be chiming in as well. that shaft-addict is hooked on the quadra and crazy! my father has taken the plunge months ago and has seen some distance gain in his irons and driver. when i get better will treat myself to a quadra! you attribute it to the shaft? the head or both? gocchin
Crazy and Quadra are the only shafts I use. For me they simply perform over all other shafts. I think Stew is like that now too... sticking with crazy and quadra.
supo
wow thats crazy! supo67 should be chiming in as well. that shaft-addict is hooked on the quadra and crazy! my father has taken the plunge months ago and has seen some distance gain in his irons and driver. when i get better will treat myself to a quadra! you attribute it to the shaft? the head or both? ha, addiction is a nassssasty word., id prefer the phrase ..............." a zealous shaft enthusiast" yes my love and repsect for quadra is well and truely documented and ingrained. ive finally worked out my perfect shaft from them and its the "75 xs" and it feels best in the yamaha v 201.... im NOT changing that puppy!!!!! playing last week did me the world of good working out the best combos i have . the epon 102 and stinger 70s is magnificent ,its med low launch bec of the shaft flight and head @ 8.5* but shots run out like "" Yiannis Kouros "" the crazy range im starting to hit more now, ive said all along i absolutely love the feel of it , but i struggeld twice with the go right thing in a match so i got freaked and switched agn. the quadra or stinger dont do that . (((read , me with those shafts ))) i just put my crazy black 50 8.2 (x) into my TM superquad and swapped some new heavier weights into it to bring it to 320 x d2 x 45.5 (ill just choke down on it .) for a workout tom morn and im expecting a cannon . the superquad sets up to my eye as a draw head so that should counter the no-go- left thing . the super quad i belive is reknown for long bombs im told , this is my frst foray into it so ill be very anxious to find out, i do love the look of it . i hit the TM and crazy 50 on hols but but it was far too light, tom. it should be perfect. the crazy 80 7.4 (s) my buds swapping me is going STRAIGHT into an epon 101 9.5 head. after months of deliberation ive finally agreeed to swap this for the shingo spec roddio. i absolutley love the feeling of the roddio shaft , but its too high and snappy for me, ive finally realised after too many snap-a -doodle-doos . my buddy whos swing speed is 100 ish maybe lower kills this club , i think hes picked up 20ish yards with this shaft. i play with him very week and hes easily cayght up its all soaring draw bombs , massive carry no roll. for slower swingers he swears blind this is right at the top of the best shaft s there are. i thought it was at first till i got killed left, its just not stiff enough for over 105mph. and hitting it a lot is the only way to find out. ive seen the crazy head shaft combo a lot , most of the time its with the longest yard and plays to 46 inch, so ive never had any interest, ive been curious abouth the head tho, dont like the look of it, but curious, Mjr D has just spiked my intrest here with this review. it sounds like an Enloa gay. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....., . Mjr. D
I would say #1 it's the shaft. The head is great, very forgiving, deep on mis**ts, but this shaft is magical. Gary himself said the 50 and 80T stuff isn't a factor because of..... well if he reads this, he can chime in, but the distance and accuracy best even the P9003X and the Diamanas. I mean, I also flattened my swing (in round) and strengthened my grip but, regardless, i've hit balls solid many times in the past but not nearly as consistently long and straight as with this setup. I would say Shaft and Gary #1, maybe head #2... I mean, this was ridiculous..... I was swinging hard but even the 3 wood I have a 80FW in..... just a missile. Half swings were going 250. And straight. The only other setup I want to try is the upcoming very deep faced looking Tourstage X 705 with the Quadra Proto. I will be selling my Taylormade Superdeep tomorrow, as well as all my other shafts. Never swinging another club without this 80T stuff. The PGA guys need to seriously demo these. gocchin
Many people actually like that head. Most of which swing over 115mph have told me it spins super low for them and they get very good run. The 80LS also works for the right player.... low spin, hot active tip area for that extra umph. Honma themselves did a test on the effects of higher carbon which they use in their various shafts and while they tested only up to 50t, the higher grade shafts showed much less wobble and much tighter dispersion which I have always talked about. Even the 2 star is 40x46t carbon so you can imagine more mainstream shafts on the market that range from 20-30t.

ant
why are you people so surprised at this ?! think about it. think old hickory shafts. you cant just go and whack it you have to work it. what you have now the way things are going is something you can just whack and it will work for you given you got fitted in the right range of characteristics. if you suddenly got any newfound respect for Bobby Jones and other folks playing back then, well, i dont blame you ;) i was going to comment the same thing. the info for all its clarifty just made me a more confused golfer. i should get into the 80t bandwagon
