NS modus 3 120 stiff

Recommended Posts

Got my hands on a 7 iron epon af tour with the modus 3 120 shaft in it at lunch time.

had a quick blast in the nets and first impressions were tremendous.

was also hitting a fourteen dg s200 and a p tune ns 1050 s

my initial thoughts were the modus is tight ,lively very much like thier WV wedge series.

very impresed for the 20 odd balls i hit.

tonight at the range i get to hit a gamut of 7 irons with all and sundry to see what best suits

this seesm pretty good tho....., is certialy not as dull as the DG and similar ot the 1050 but def tighter and more rigid

report later............,

well big range session took a heap of 7 irons alldiffernt shafts.

kbs tour s , dgs200, ns 950 s , ns super peening blue, sp orange ,ns 1050x,

trying to ignore the head and concentrating on the shaft only.

i think now i have a very good mental piccy of how these all play.

the super peening blue was the lowest and most solid ,but with a good feel.

the orange was a bit higher and easier to launch

the 1050 x was very tight high launching and stiff

the kbs was muted and rubbery

the dg was solid but harsh

the modus 114 stiff i was playing actually.,

very tight, high launching and dropped out on the target, completely differnt to what i thought it was going to be.

greta dispersion and for a lighter shaft it was superb.

it was in the epon af tour head and know this head really well. and i had another with the kbs tour so went head to head on those for a while

the kbs is lower heavier muted and longer

the modus was tighter a lot more of the lovely NS feel , higher flight and more workable

u get a brilliant repsonse to your shots immediatly.

the mid section seems to stay rigid when you punch hard and doesnt do that snap thing like a kick straightening.

its like the butt is soft then the mid is dead straight and the tip just softer than the mid.

when i had a big old swoooooooosh at acpl it held in beautifully.

but whoa there its a high shot! really really high

the over all feel and performance were sensational. i loved it , ill get the x flex or tour x in these to bring that flight down a bit

will def get A set and they will be in my other irons that are in the mix.

first thought were a fabulous iron but i want to try a tighter flex FIRST.

the super peenings arnt in any danger against these at this flex for me but , i think the x flex will def get a go.

if you play lighter shafts these are seriosuly good. better than anything else ive hit .

i cant wait to try the heavier 126 gram.

really really nice shaft to hit.

i imagine ill have these in set very soon .

surprised you even tried the 114, but i guess that was the only available one.

but even with the weight issues sounds like the dispersion remained tight! that

is really impressive with the only issue being the highish traj.

its almost elementary that the x will bring the flight down. hmmm x or tx is a

tough choice. im sure you will make the right decision. imho nothing beats the

nspro in terms of feel.

Go X and hard step for a sub flex.

yea?

never done that .

the reports from the states shaft plays a a littel soft. and the tx is the way to go.

plus its 126 gram shaft. but i like the idea of 120s but harder felx

hmm ill ask my guy what he thinks.

FYI. Feedback from my Players who have tried this Shaft.....poor dispersion results and ballooning in windy conditions.....most Shafts were X Flex. Felt great at impact in the hands and all that stuff, but favorable results questionable.

very good to know.

i was thinking of these seriosuly for a ver y good set ive just got.

i love the feel but i also found they went high and i hit the stiff. but just on a range. and only with the 7 iron epon af tour

i did shaft a 4 iron prgr egg im using as a quasy utility with the modus 3 tour 120 x flex and havnt found anything ngative so far . in fact im likning the feel of it imensly , lower than the 1050 x in the other ive got. tighter as well.

i ve been hitting the Ns super peening orange a bit lately and they are a bit high, but oh so tight

no balloning on them and just the smallest bit workable.

im prefering these to the SP blues in general, but in the wind ill use the blues.

the tour x flex must be the go on these.

I was trying them in my friend's Giken the other day , i thought i could not hit them as they are way too heavy for my. but to my surprise i love love absolutely love the feel of it. launches higher then i expected , great control and didn't feel heavy. I could not not hit my GS 95 after that LOL.

i am thinking of changing my low irons with them for trial.

BTW any one tell me the difference with the super Peening blues against the Modus 3?

Hey guys, I was told by a reputable dealer that this shaft was stout, think 1150's but lower launching. If you are looking for a new hot shaft which is tight and lower launching consider the new KBS C-Tapers, I'm hearing very positive feedback. Cool factor is high too, satin and stepless. I have the early prototypes in my irons, they aren't as low launching as the finished product but damn do they feel AWESOME! BB

BB thanks for the info , i will start looking into those too. But seriously i was gaming the GS 95, i don't really think that the MOdus 3 are super stout. And by memory the KBS black nickel i tried cpl years ago was stouter that this one.

was also considering a set but the mr G's feedback from users is not so promising.

may actually go back to the blues but first i want to re-try the Tour concepts.
