Spoon
guys both are available already and was so set on the new yamaha 19deg ute but after seeing the 2011 RC 20* i am really confused. the yamaha has the fric off sole while the RC has the twin rail. both make hitting of the rough easier. they both could have a place as a replacement for my 3i. which one? i know the yamaha has good reviews. how bout the rc? anyone gaming one? +TourSpecGolfer
Ouch that is a tough one. I can order one of each and bring it in for pics and a review if you would like, then sell you the demo's when were done. It would take about 2 weeks total to do this. I'll be gaming the RC in a 17 degree. Its off with Goodsie right now being shafted up. As soon as I can I'll be sure to post a review on it. I really don't think that you could go wrong with either one. I'm partial right now to the RC's because I think they've got such great feel along with providing really strong trajectories. Before I sent off the new RC to Goodsie I did swing it around some. It had very good balance and provided much confidence that hitting it would not be a problem. As soon as I can I'll let you know more. I've already posted some pics on another link I'm sure you seen, if not check it out.
gocchin
I already reviewed the TRC briefly and did pics on the blog. I gamed the previous model for 2 years. More forgiving than the Yamaha, better feeling than the Yamaha and for me longer than the Yamaha. Stock shafts are pretty good, they feel much more stable overall than the Yamaha set up. They also look much better at address. As a matter of a fact I can take side by side adress pics of the previous gen Yamaha and TRC as I have both here. The new models have a similar look at address. stalemate
Yes, I play the 2010 RC utility. It has taken the Tourstage and Honma out of the bag. I never tried the Yamaha, so can't comment on that. But the RC utility out performed all the others that entered the bag the accuracy and forgiveness is top notch. I'm actually thinking of giving the new 2011 a try. I need all the help i can get for the thick roughs at my home course.
draven
For a higher handicapper, would the TRC be forgiving enough? Or would the SFD III be a better call?
Duffer19
For the higher handicapper, I think the new Yamaha D is a safer bet. I am now playing up to 15 and couldn't be happier with the forgiveness of Yamaha 19*. As a matter of fact, the forgiveness of all the D line The twin rails on the Yamaha seem also more pronoun than the RC.
+TourSpecGolfer
I'm sporting dual X-UT's and have the Yamaha and RC on the way for testing.
Blader-X
One thing to note with the new Royal Collection TRC clubs, the hosel size is .335 so you can put any wood shaft you would like in their as opposed to most utilities being .370. In fact all TRC clubs whether they're the new RC's or old Sonartecs are .335. Goodsie confirmed that for me and he's putting in my old Graphite Design SF8 which I previously had in my EGG. The SF line is what the '09 TRC came with.
idrive
This is the most neglected part of my bag. I don't like the lie angle (too up right) of most of the FW and Ut's. So when I find something a little flatter and it just happens to be a club that works fantastic for me and has been cemented in my bag.... the "eggs". I think I'm ready to go 20* and toss out the 18 and 22* This has been on my mind over the last couple of weeks. After much research most everything I'm looking at (Yama-RC-TS etc) is about 1.5-2* more upright. *than what I'm playing now I always ask.. but haven't for awhile :) anyone able to custom the lie angle 2* or so flatter? I still hit the eggs so well I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to replace them. But, I'd like to give a few a try. FWIW I have found the FW's and Ut's to be among the easier to hit, very user friendly clubs out there. *Edits *I would prefer an RC as my 1st choice. * I'm really surprised we don't have more PRGR fans. supo
i have been using differnt eggs in differnt styles for utility purposes ufor the last 6 months ive got 4 nad 5 irons from a set of irons and used different shafts to try and make a ute. ive tried the 22* 9 wood with a ns 950 FW steel shaft ,which is rediculously straight , and it s high launching they all tend to go a little far for what i want basically 200+ yard par 3s . but i finally nailed it with the 5iron (22*) iron and a NS 1050 s 4 iron shaft. this i can now bend round trees, hit low piercing draw "stingers" 220+ or massive high teed up slice cuts 180 that land verticle. its that versatile. the trick was the shaft...., i game this club everytime now and ive made another in the 4 iron thats 21* but so much lower and longer. the egg irons are the most incredible feeling iron ive ever hit. no idea what they are made of but it AINT s20c steel im guessing........... wow i just checked they ARE in fact s20c fored at endo. doh! the mew model looks really playable im not kidding i would seriously look at playing these in 4-5-6 nad my kyoeis in the scoring irons they are that easy to hit so much so, that in considering doing this . the new sole is 1/2 the thickness what the older ones are. they arnt cheap tho. im a hoooooooooooooooooooooooge pr-gr fan and esp of the eggs., for the right course and conditions i love them. that shingo katayama club i picked up a cpl of weeks ago is easily the longest fw ive hit , and by so far its quite alarming. thats going back home to use in oz. if u can find a 5 iron head in the egg id seriosuly recomend playing this as a ute, its terrific. ill post a piccy of mine on the weekend to check out. I'm pretty sure Goodsie could bend the UT lie angle a bit flatter. I can if it has a long steel hosel like I can with some of the TM woods.
