Mjr. D
Got my Crazy 435 8.0* with the new version of the Black 50 (8.7). I thought the old black 50 was a beast. This new one launches a LOT lower with a LOT less spin. Seriously, i've never seen a ball run this much. I swing pretty darn quick and I was having trouble getting this combo up in the air the odd time. It's easily the lowest launching and lowest spinning combo i've ever hit. Feel wasn't quite as harsh as with the older black 50... not sure why. The Crazy head doesn't have my personal favorite kind of feel - which is more pingy sounding/feeling but it's a nice muted feel/sound. Dispersion was outstanding... same as the old Black 50. If you're looking for the lowest spinning, lowest launching combo out there, I can't imagine anything doing it better than this. VERY impressive. Note - Unless you swing very hard, honestly, you have NO chance of hitting this combo high enough.

So this shaft sounds promising, if a bit intimidating, ha ha! Is it the kind of shaft you have to absolutely smash every time, and can never throttle back a bit if you want to hit a fade around a dogleg? Maybe go for the old version..Or down in flex and a bit up in loft.
Mjr. D
I don't honestly know. If you want it to kick and you don't want it to skim the ground, you have to go at it pretty aggressively. If you hit it as high as you do and with no roll, I think you should seriously consider this shaft.

proquick72
is it anti-left?
stalemate
Compared to your old CB50 which has the better distance or they about the same? I'm guessing the new one is more accurate.
+TourSpecGolfer
I think the head is the biggest contributor to the trajectory here. It's Jbeam at heart and the smaller Jbeams fly low with very little spin. Very straight! 8.0 is crazy! I've seen some hard hitting nationwide tour players give Tatsuro's Jbeam 425 10* w/787 combo a whirl and its straight with the perfect trajectory. These are all 8.5 kinda guy's with X flex shafts it was fun to see them hit some of the best drives they have had with a 10* stiff flex. Mjr. D
Interesting. Distance is about the same, yes.
stalemate
What is it about the head that promotes a lower trajectory?
Vegaman
What is it about the head that promotes a lower trajectory? I think very high COG and true lofts.
Mjr. D
I'm pretty sure it's mostly the shaft. I've had lots of of 7.5* drivers and I even have a 5* long drive Krank Rage head and it flies about as high as the Crazy.
gyli84
I thought the old Black 50 with the red lettering and the new one are essentially the same shaft with same flex profile/weight/torque etc but different graphics. That is what I was told by my clubfitter. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Mjr. D
Could be, but based on my experience hitting the two, the new one without a doubt, launches lower and spins less. I'm also hitting it left more, but that is probably 100% due to my swing..... and tinkering a little.
