Wedges

Looking to try new wedges. I currently game Moz's black in shimada ks 120. Have gone from titliest-crews-yuyuri raws. Of these the moz seems to be the softest. Titliest best spins. Yuyuris feel harsh sometimes, and chews the ball up....but great spin

Whats the fav out there ?

Thks

i love my 52 and 58 rc DB Protos.

i was not so fond of them before i put the shimada black

wedges. they are a different beast altogether, not spin monsters

but are excellent from any lie. i bent my 52 to 50 and left the 58

as is.

im eyeying DWD wedges for the future

So far the current Yamahas and Sky Dream D- Tour Type Bites.... Yururi Tour are fantastic as well, but the Yam and Sky Dream are a step above.... For spin and a very soft feel while also being quite versatile and accurate it's the SDJ, for the most accurate wedges that are the most enjoyable to shoot at pins and work the ball with it's the Yamaha.... For sole grind versatility the Yururi Tour is def tops, very easy to open up and hit many different shots from any lie....

The Crazy Toyos are doing pretty well, I've only hit em a few times so far, so my opinions on them aren't definite yet, but this much is for certain.... If your looking for an automatic, easy to hit wedge that spins the crap outta the ball, these are them.... If you can find em.... They wanna spin alot on every shot, if your someone who struggles to get as much spin as you would like to and just wants to point and shoot, these are the wedge for you.

I have the Tourstage Maru's coming though, and I have a feeling that these are going to be the gold standard that everything else gets compared to...

Funny you mention the marus, I recently put out a want to buy ad for these and as of 4 hours ago I got lucky with a 53/59 combo. Ive had so many opportunities to get these years ago but never really paid attention to them. Stew and some of the other guys give it an A1 rating so that got me curious.

I really can't complain with the db protos a

I have but wanted to get some heads for my nspro proto wedge shafts that I'm supposed to receive next week.

I doubt if they would give the black shimadas any competition but I wanted to try the heads anyway so it all works out.

Jason why don't u give the RC db wedges a try. In the wedge shootout performed early this year by tsger , the RC finished ahead of

The yamahas. They are damn fine wedges.

spoon you are righ abt the shimadas. Put them into my 302 PW for the fun of it and clocked 10k rpms on the tool. Too much an the swing wgt was off.....so had it put back into the kenmochi 52s.

Thks guys will look into th yamahas , tourstage & rcs. Sky dream is too toppy for me.

My favs are Yururi and the Sky Dream Jump D-tours... The SDJ are non conforming, feel superb and spin amazingly. I had the DB Forged which is a good wedge the I rank the SDJ above them.

Jason was lucky enough to get a brand new set of 53/59 with commerative box and all. Probably the last ones in Japan new.

Yeah I heard. Are these marus released every year? Are they that good? I like the lofts and I'm a

Sucker for Anything tour issue outta the box.

I'm gaming the Chikara wedges which are new to me, although many here with experiences. Figured I would try one just for fun in a black oxide 54 degree wedge and can't beieve how much that sucker spins. Also nice to know that a wedge that used to retail for $250/wedge can be had for a lot less these days.

Are these worth a closer look or should I be wondering that there is still a set available?

Buy that Proto set before I do mate ;)....

I've actually been thinking about picking up the DB forged, they are def next on my list as far as currently available wedges.... I feel like they'll be similar to the Sky Dreams but the sole looks wider and the grind looks a bit more dramatic... ya know what, I'm gonna order a 56' today to see how it goes, I was looking for something to use in very light, soft sand that I can really open up and I think this will be it, I was going to grab the SDJ Type Bite WS for this, but I'm thinking the DB might be closer to what I want since the sole isn't as dramatically wide and flat as the SDJ WS so i wont be totally pigeon holed with it, I can deal with a bit less spin and I'm always a huge sucker for trying new things.... Depending on how something I'm working on turns out I might ever order a set of RC blades in the near future to bag with the DB if I like them alot....

I can't really compare that many wedges to the Yamahas, they're quite different wedges from just about everything else I have gamed, and they suit me very well... The soles are VERY thin, which I like, and they're just sooo accurate, FANTASTIC to shoot at pins with, and the way they go through the turf is better than anything else I have played.... They spin well, but nothing to write him about, I see these as more of an accuracy and control wedge than anything else, touch and laser like precision are what stands out with these rather than heavy spin.... They really suit me, my game, and what I want from a wedge(most days, lol) VERY well, def not a wedge for everyone, but if this type of wedge is what your looking for then these are 100% tops....

Besides the Tourstage Marus, I also have a 58' Crazy proto wedge coming and 2 Pro Preference Model wedges(courtesy of Carlo), and I can't wait to see how these stack up as well...

Ahhh, I totally forgot to mention that I just took out a Yururi Raw Gekku 61' bent to 63' for the first time today for a nice little running in..... Shafted with a Crazy steel 110 wedge shaft in dark chrome.... I really like this wedge alot, in the looks department it's all class, the apparent grinding and the raw finish is really gorgeous, I'm not always a fan of the grainy raw finish, but Yururi really seems to get it right with this wedge, it almost looks like it was chiseled from black stone.... Really cool... Performance wise, so far it's exactly what I wanted this wedge to be, the loft actually plays closer to 65' than the actual 63' which surprised me alot because vie found that often times when I bend a wedge more than 1 degree weaker that it winds up playing about .5-1 degree stronger than what I bent it to because i find myself working to keep the leading edge down, I'm having no such issues with this wedge, idk if it's the grind or something else, but I'm def not complaining at all, lol.... I bought this wedge to bag occasionally as a kinda utility wedge to get me outta trouble or just blast high lob shots outta deep rough, and I'm getting exactly what I want from it, this wedge was eating up every single lie I hit it outta, it really gets under the ball very well, it brings the biggest smile to my face to hit the ball 30 feet in the air and have it float down to a soft landing 10-15 yards in front of me.... Awesome.... This wedge spins ALOT, just as much as anything else I have hit if not more, and I'm pretty sure a lower loft would spin even more, but unlike some other wedges I have, the intense spin from these comes at a price.... Seriously, I'm not kidding, it really does come at a price... It costs me about 9.00 every time I hit the thing... A 9.00 Super Newing or Tpurstage XjD ball, lmao.... This wedge shreds golf balls like nothing I have ever seen, I'm pretty sure I can see the groves grow teeth and begin to chew the ball as it make contact ;) overall a great wedge, very solid, I'm continuously happy with every Yururi wedge I hit, they really put out very clean, classy, solid wedges that are just a pleasure to hit at a very reasonable price.... Ya know, come to think of it, it's not just the wedges, Yururi irons are superb as well...
