  1. Yup, if you want something long and easy there is nothing even close.... It's like they took the EGG FW line and just made it smaller. If your a better player who wants something automatic but still needs to stay close with your yardage gaps pair these with a tight, stiff, low shaft and you'll be straight at the flag all day.... Make any sort of decent to good contact and the ball rockets off the face dead straight. J.
  2. If you like the look of them I promise you will not be unhappy with them.... Yamaha irons are beyond top notch, they feel fantastic and they flat out perform, if I had to suggest a first set of JDM irons to someone it would be between Epons and Yamahas, anything in either of those two product lineups will blow anyone away..... There are irons that are as good in some ways, even better in some areas, but overall, taking everything about them into account, AF Tours and Yam Tour Models take top spots... J.
  3. Bring ice to the range with the Hogan's.... I'll let Stew explain why... J.
  4. I think I have finally found the limit of what I would grab..,. I've always played a basic TT step less putter shaft and have never really had anything bad to say about it, I've tried the UST Frequency Filtered and it wasn't bad but didn't improve my putting at all, I have always liked a very soft putter, so there really wasn't much for the UST shaft to do for me.... I think I'm going to try the NS Pro putter shaft so well see how that goes, I just couldn't really justify going for graphite in a putter though... J.
  5. Hard stepping def won't change the feel of the shaft, it will just play stiffer.... Lol, when I said pick it up from T I actually mean order it from TSG, or you can search "choji oil" on goggle and order it from just about anywhere that deals with Japanese swords. The way a club interacts with the turf will def depend on your swing, but I haven't noticed the flat backs dig any more than hay other irons I own, actually I find that the thin soles on em cut through the turf very well... J.
  6. Forgot to toss this in there... If you like the weight of the Modus in Stiff but they're playing a bit loose, try hard stepping them, I know that Carlo has had fantastic results with the Modus after hard stepping. For me I needed a considerably stiffer flex and a bunch more weight to tighten these up, after some trial and error I eventually settled on them in Tour X soft stepped once, the Modus plays a bit soft, so the X or Tour X flex even won't play quite as stiff as an X100.... The Modus are a very solid shaft and the NS Pro feel is very difficult to beat, but it's very important to get flex and weight right with them or shot dispersion can get a bit crazy. J.
  7. You can buy any Japanese clove oil, that's what sword oil is, not sure if the Gold's Sword oil was in the pro shop last time I looked, if it is grab it from T.... It really does smell great, it's basically mineral oil with a tiny bit of clove in it for the scent, it won't take the bite off your raw heads at all, I believe Yururi ships there clubs oiled or at least the last few wedges I have received from them have come oiled, it bonds to the metal to keep from oxidation(rusting), and it's DEF a good idea if you want your raw heads to look pretty and new for a while... Although if your just looking for max bite, allowing for a bit of rust on the face will give you that.... Yup, ive got the flatbacks, I have them in satin though, they're DEF one of my favorite blades, AWESOME to shoot at pins with, in my opinion the best scoring irons in golf, and this set is my go to links iron set without a doubt, very razor blade like clubs and they're pretty strong lofted for blades which brings the flight down a touch more, these really eat links courses alive when you really need precision iron play.... A pretty demanding club, you won't find much else out there that gives you more of a challenge, but they are very, very sweet when struck pure, very workable, no problem moving these any way you like.... You got yourself a fantastic set of blades there that excels in the hands of a skilled golfer mate.... Also your shaft selection for these is pretty much top notch for this set that's available retail, ive tried alot of shafts in these and have continuously came back to the Modus, i originally tried the Modus in them in Stiff which were a bit soft and thin for me, but once I found the correct flex in the Modus they went better than anything else I tried in them.... SP Blues in them were a bit low and the ball didn't wanna move at all, Monacos were good but again I really wanna move the ball with these heads and the Monacos are pretty much dead straight, Crazy Steel 120 is a very solid option and so far would def be my second choice to the Modus but the Modus get the nod over them in these heads for ease of use... Only other shaft I'm waiting to try in these heads is the NS Prototype C10, I have high hopes for these, but if I still prefer the Modus in these heads then I'm gonna keep the Flatback/Modus3 setup and give myself a pat on the back for getting it right the first time, lol... J.
  8. Ahhhh good old WRX ..... I read threads over there whenever I wanna find myself in that euphoric state between full blown rolling on the floor laughter and speechless double taking "did I read that right? Umm ok I guess I did" confusion.... Yamaha is one of the few manufacturers I've seen that's pretty well respected even outside of the JDM crowd, the guys over at my fitter aren't really well versed in JDM gear, some have seen it and are aware of some of it, but when I had my 2011 Tours shafted the tech over there made a remark about how high quality Yamaha gear is and what a pleasure it was to work on the Tour Model, really surprised me as he's never said a word regarding previous knowledge of any of the other top end JDM gear I had brought in previously... J.
  9. Shimadas play rather stiff to flex, a Stiff fits most guys who play X flex in other shafts, soft step them and in reasonably sure you'll have better results at your SS. J.
  10. The Epon lies play a touch upright I have found, I flatten just about every club 1* and the AF Tours and 302's play very slightly more upright than all my other sets, it may not be that way for everyone, but I think that's what Stew is getting at. J.
  11. I would be seriously interested to see how they could possibly improve on the current AF Tour or 302's, both sets are absolutely tops... I think I'm gonna try out bagging a combo set of them today, see how it goes... J.
  12. Gimme a buzz in a bit and I'll give ya the scoop on the Ctapers mate. J.
  13. I have yet to hit a Yamaha club that I haven't loved.... Every single Yam club I have hit is at least as good as anything else on the market if not better. J.
  14. Put me down for a set of the new model.... Sky Dream wedges are fantastic gents, def towards the top of what's currently available. I have ALOT of wedges and the DTour Type Bites and the current Yamahas make it into my bag more often than anything else.... If they're coming out with a new wedge I don't even need to see it to know it's going to be awesome. Now Sky Dream and Yam need to come out with a set of blades and I would be a very happy man. J.
  15. Looking for another set of Monacos Stiff flex 3-PW, my two sources refuse to sell me any more sets in Stiff flex and I need one more set to complete my collection, they can be either pulls or new, if they're pulls the set needs to be based on a 37.75(finished length) 5 iron or longer, I'm willing to pay full retail for a set of pulls and over retail for for a new set if anyone has them already or can source them.... I'm also looking for a set of original RPC/Rifle Project X Satins in 5.5 or 6.0 flex for a set I'm putting together that I just have the urge to put these in, And I much prefer these to the current model, had 4 sets that I figured I would never wanna game again and just recently donated them... top dollar offered for these as well gents. Let me know. Thanks. J. *PM is def the best way to reach me BTW
  16. And me for the rest of them ;)

Send over those Tourstages mate.... I'm kinda baffled that these are still available after a few days, everyone seems to be interested in the Marus now and these are almost the same head.... For 1/3 the price.... I didn't grab these right away since I just picked up the Marus and figured someone else would hop right on these immediately, but I'll rectify that right now.... I'll send the Paypal over in a bit. J.
  18. Lol, I have the GSS along with a whole lot of other rare SC's that I never game anymore.... I just donated 99% of my USDM gear a few weeks ago, I wasn't around for most of the time they were loading up all of the gear to transport it, I just took all of my JDM stuff, a few newer USDM clubs and whatever I have that was used on tour outta my club room and told them to take whatever was in there.... I had totally forgot to clear all of my limited, tour, or rare putters out and I just happened to get home as they were loading up and hadn't taken the putters yet.... I was very lucky that I got back before they left with everything, lmao.... I don't plan on playing any of the Scotty's and I'm planning on selling them when I get around to it, but I would have been really upset with myself if they had taken all of those putters, I have a ton of em and they'll def be worth quite a bit to anyone who wants em... J.
  19. 19', I order all of my driving irons in 19'..... My distance with a 19' driving iron is consistent with a 2 iron or a 20' ute, and when I bag the driving iron I'm bagging it instead of a 2 iron or a ute, that's def what's most important to me when rotating or switching around clubs, keeping my yardage gaps consistent.... An 18' would be nice to tee off with in the wind, but it would be a bit long off the deck and would screw with my gaps a bit and I would have to adjust the rest of my bag.... The Srixon is very, very solid and pure off the deck, feel is fantastic, it goes the the turf very well, and hitting off the deck is where i really appreciate the laser milled face most.... I've even had alot of success with it outta long fairway bunkers when I don't need to get it up quickly or clear a lip, this club just performs, and bit performs well.... J.
  20. Ahhh, I totally forgot to mention that I just took out a Yururi Raw Gekku 61' bent to 63' for the first time today for a nice little running in..... Shafted with a Crazy steel 110 wedge shaft in dark chrome.... I really like this wedge alot, in the looks department it's all class, the apparent grinding and the raw finish is really gorgeous, I'm not always a fan of the grainy raw finish, but Yururi really seems to get it right with this wedge, it almost looks like it was chiseled from black stone.... Really cool... Performance wise, so far it's exactly what I wanted this wedge to be, the loft actually plays closer to 65' than the actual 63' which surprised me alot because vie found that often times when I bend a wedge more than 1 degree weaker that it winds up playing about .5-1 degree stronger than what I bent it to because i find myself working to keep the leading edge down, I'm having no such issues with this wedge, idk if it's the grind or something else, but I'm def not complaining at all, lol.... I bought this wedge to bag occasionally as a kinda utility wedge to get me outta trouble or just blast high lob shots outta deep rough, and I'm getting exactly what I want from it, this wedge was eating up every single lie I hit it outta, it really gets under the ball very well, it brings the biggest smile to my face to hit the ball 30 feet in the air and have it float down to a soft landing 10-15 yards in front of me.... Awesome.... This wedge spins ALOT, just as much as anything else I have hit if not more, and I'm pretty sure a lower loft would spin even more, but unlike some other wedges I have, the intense spin from these comes at a price.... Seriously, I'm not kidding, it really does come at a price... It costs me about 9.00 every time I hit the thing... A 9.00 Super Newing or Tpurstage XjD ball, lmao.... This wedge shreds golf balls like nothing I have ever seen, I'm pretty sure I can see the groves grow teeth and begin to chew the ball as it make contact ;) overall a great wedge, very solid, I'm continuously happy with every Yururi wedge I hit, they really put out very clean, classy, solid wedges that are just a pleasure to hit at a very reasonable price.... Ya know, come to think of it, it's not just the wedges, Yururi irons are superb as well... J.
  21. C, if you love the 902 with the Crazy ute I'm gonna send ya my Srixon 19' w/ Crazy ute to try out as temptation... HA!, and if you don't love it I'll wind up being long a Crazy ute shaft and possibly an 18' Epon 902 ;) I honestly don't know much about the Yonex, the shape looks great to me because it sets up more like an iron than others do, but beyond that..... The little I hear about it is average.... J.
  22. Srixon is by far the best driving iron I have ever played C..... Nothing even close.... if you decide you wanna stick with the Epon driving iron I have a 19' that I never use I would send ya on the cheap. If I was going to try something else besides the Srixon it would be the Fourteen or the Yonex, leaning towards the Fourteen, The RC doesn't really do it for me, but honestly, unless another driving iron comes out that blows me away, I'm gonna stick with the Srixon... You know how rare it is for me not to wanna try everything mate, that's really just how good the Srixon is, feels perfect, very soft for a driving iron, and performs wonderfully, long, low/mid trajectory and VERY workable, sets up great, the finish on it is awesome, and the laser milling on the face is great.... It actually makes me consider giving a set of Srixon irons a go. You know exactly what shaft I'm gonna suggest it with ;) lol J.
  23. Duffer, If the Epon/GD FW's are still available then...... MINE!!! Lol, PM me with the details. J.
  24. Buy that Proto set before I do mate ;).... I've actually been thinking about picking up the DB forged, they are def next on my list as far as currently available wedges.... I feel like they'll be similar to the Sky Dreams but the sole looks wider and the grind looks a bit more dramatic... ya know what, I'm gonna order a 56' today to see how it goes, I was looking for something to use in very light, soft sand that I can really open up and I think this will be it, I was going to grab the SDJ Type Bite WS for this, but I'm thinking the DB might be closer to what I want since the sole isn't as dramatically wide and flat as the SDJ WS so i wont be totally pigeon holed with it, I can deal with a bit less spin and I'm always a huge sucker for trying new things.... Depending on how something I'm working on turns out I might ever order a set of RC blades in the near future to bag with the DB if I like them alot.... I can't really compare that many wedges to the Yamahas, they're quite different wedges from just about everything else I have gamed, and they suit me very well... The soles are VERY thin, which I like, and they're just sooo accurate, FANTASTIC to shoot at pins with, and the way they go through the turf is better than anything else I have played.... They spin well, but nothing to write him about, I see these as more of an accuracy and control wedge than anything else, touch and laser like precision are what stands out with these rather than heavy spin.... They really suit me, my game, and what I want from a wedge(most days, lol) VERY well, def not a wedge for everyone, but if this type of wedge is what your looking for then these are 100% tops.... Besides the Tourstage Marus, I also have a 58' Crazy proto wedge coming and 2 Pro Preference Model wedges(courtesy of Carlo), and I can't wait to see how these stack up as well... J.
  25. So far the current Yamahas and Sky Dream D- Tour Type Bites.... Yururi Tour are fantastic as well, but the Yam and Sky Dream are a step above.... For spin and a very soft feel while also being quite versatile and accurate it's the SDJ, for the most accurate wedges that are the most enjoyable to shoot at pins and work the ball with it's the Yamaha.... For sole grind versatility the Yururi Tour is def tops, very easy to open up and hit many different shots from any lie.... The Crazy Toyos are doing pretty well, I've only hit em a few times so far, so my opinions on them aren't definite yet, but this much is for certain.... If your looking for an automatic, easy to hit wedge that spins the crap outta the ball, these are them.... If you can find em.... They wanna spin alot on every shot, if your someone who struggles to get as much spin as you would like to and just wants to point and shoot, these are the wedge for you. I have the Tourstage Maru's coming though, and I have a feeling that these are going to be the gold standard that everything else gets compared to...
