JOHNC69
I have played a 13 degree Tour Edge Exotics CB2 3 wood for quite a few years and currently it is fitted with a Project X-8A4 shaft but I am now looking to replace it with a newer model and as a high ball speed and high spin player I tend to use my 3 wood mostly off the tee as a fairway finder and therefore I am really looking for laser like accuracy rather than explosive distance. Due to the fact that I play in the wind much of the time I often hit low piercing bullets that run forever so I am looking for low launching and low spinning fairway woods, ideally small to mid sized clubheads with a deep face and a slightly open face angle. After doing some research two of the fairway woods that would appear to be most suited to my game are the Royal Collection Pro TX and the Yonex Ezone Type ST so I would really like to hear the opinions of anyone who has played either of these clubs including what shafts they played, so how do they compare not only in terms of launch and spin but also in distance and accuracy and which one has the deeper face, other than the Royal Collection and the Yonex can anyone recommend alternative fairway woods which would maybe suit my game. corky3
the rc TX has only just been released so don't think there will be a lot experience out there. I have played a Sonartec SS07 forever , which as you probably know is realla RC by aNy other name. shaft I use is a Rombax 7v05 same shaft Rory uses in his driver.... for me this gives a low to medium ball flight with plenty of roll. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend TC fairways to anyone. There is a wealth of more knowledgeable people on here, hopefully they will chime in Welcome to TSG
ant
would be interested in any comments on Pro TX as well, it looks like RC replacement for their old Pro TP. i gotta say that i'm quite disappointed in RC for their "custom" marketing stunt with TX/TR. not what i expected at all. here is what their "custom" build is : you can choose shaft, head finnish, ferrule color and grip from their options. shaft options they offered before nothing new. what if the shaft you want aint on that list ? what if you want it with flatter lie angle or different face angle ? what if you want it at specific weight ? etc hows offering different ferrule colors and head finishes and bunch of different iomic grips makes it a custom build ? thats more like pimp your club than a custom build. i'm their customer and i like their products alot but ferrule color is probably the last thing i care about. maybe i'm out of touch with consumer reality these days but just felt like venting about that "custom" build here a bit. supo
is that right? i think custom means "i want this shape head to be these specs" NOT that head, in this colour agree totally ant.
ant
thanx supo! my rant aside and maybe the whole "custom" deal was lost in translation to me but i really think RC can do better than that. their clubs are obviously assembled manually by their staff ie they are not mass production factory assembly because taking their clubs apart shows that so how hard would it really be for them to offer more custom options like lie, face, weight, more shaft options etc. probably not that hard. instead of going after volume and trying to capture international market with cheaper models or introducing club pimping options a better deal in my book would have been providing true custom builds tour van style but what do i know, that probably wont sell. +TourSpecGolfer
I'd say forget the Pro TX go with the OnOFF Type S FW.
