Stew either hates me or really likes me… As I already know what his review of the irons are… He either sent me that to goad me into admitting I was waiting with baited breath for the review or to make me "Stew" in my juices for having the review in hand… NOt sure which...

Are sets of the tours still available for custom order?

Stock sets have started trickling in.

Bogeydog who ordered first will get the first set sent out today... then idrive and supo67 and as it goes in order of those who ordered.

That's awesome news, hopefully I'm not too far behind inline. :)

v-forged IRONS.................. dg s200 @ 51 37.5 stock offering only....

was lucky enought ot be invited up very early by a golf friend in the biz to hit the new yamaha stuff... he knows what i think of yamaha so he gives me the heads up when they come in, not sure if too many before me hit these. they stil have the stickers on them..!

the head looks to be smaller than previous years and alot more player esque than very high hcapper style

the look like they are for anyone from a scratch player to bogey golfer in my eyes. i liked them instanlty.

just a smidge of offset to ease them, and slightyl bigger heads than the tours. by the looks of them

impact was more punchy than previous years where anywhere on the face felt like the middle. these seem to have bit more dynamics to them than previous years . good players will like them a LOT. average players still get forgivenness. they look to be a really top meld.

they were dead easy to hit and they felt a wee bit workable withought being "pro" but enough that if i was given these id have no longings for too many others... thats what i liked about them a lot. they look player but i think theyd play easy. i think these migth become a bit of a hit.

i have a feeling guys that go these route wil be very happy capmers for a long time to come (or a year till the next ones popout hahahah!)

i would.......... and could........... very easily........ pass a few of my other irons on and play these as my cavity........

bec they didnt really look nor play that cavity esque ....... they just seem to be straight up easier irons to play..

really big thumbs up for these

2013 TOUR iron review.......................

Well...........

Well to be honest with yall......... my First thoughts were damn not exactly what i was expecting to see.

Nothing looked overly interesting. Just another blade..........., at first glance............., my adrenalin ran low.

the Sole is long and thick.(for a blade), about the same length as the yonex ezone which i was hitting side by side with this yamah with the same shaft unfortunatly only dgx200 at 37.5 inch which is the stock offering ,but beggars cant be choosers.

i thought the Toe section of the sole is wide, and the heel part thin. Same basic concept as their previous tour models.. but longer and skinnier all over. face milling is like the 2012 quite extreme same pattern ,its unbeleiveably soft to hit , yet.. it still allows for good working..somehow!

The head at address is delicious to look at it looks smaller than it is . like the yonex does but thicker and with more substance. the Top line is thin to mid thin not tiny like ezone and not as thick as

the personal.

I had a good seession hit about 50 balls with the 7 iron. So got a decent feel for its swing characteisitcs, with stock dgs200 which. Didn't feel at all bad so that says something about how good the head is !

The impact.......... well its very "full" its much fuller than the ezone not as full as the previous tour models nor the personals but it is a balde so that's understandable. But against the other clubs I was hitting against... the srixon 905, the miura cb1007 and the yonex ezone it was a more fulfilling reward for centered shots. The srixon 905 was the softest to hit by a way its like its made of sticky metal... too soft for my taste. But thast a heck of a blade in I liked that srixon...,

the Weight distribution of the yamaha felt slightly toe heavy compared to the personals which seem dead neutral balance having this slight toe tip ( my make up descritpion) would make it harder to turn over snap hook, which..... is what I didn't mange to do in 50 ish hits. so im onto soething here!

Its sits perfectly at address, i dont have to fight and fidgit like i do with a few other blades, like the TS 905s..., the slightest of slight off set in the scoring irons is barely noticeable., well its not really , Not that ud notice unless r loking for it , its no where near as pronounced as the yonex nor the miura. but More than the srixon.

I liked the way it sat i liked the way it felt when stuck. I liked he way it looks.

The busy wording on the back is unnoticeable In the flesh its just a bland no nonsense handsome looking blade like it shud be . I was imagining what they look like in my bag. And i think they will just blend in . like a blade SHUD do.

I think i understand how they claim to be able to blend blade performance with cavity forgiveness. It's the blend of the size of the blade and the milling on the face. The milling "mushs" up the feeling at impact but you still get that lovely thump that Yamaha is famous (in my mind ) for.

the sole weighting placement is as well pretty important here. If u look at it straight away u go WOW that aint a blade sole and at impact u can feel in the swing it aint as dynamic as the normal blades, it sems to keep on a tighter arc than blades do. thats hrad to describe until u swing lots of baldes and try and imagine swing plane , the weighting seems to be very nicely balcanced in the swing , i tink thats what im trying to say..

i must admit , i was so excited by yamah blade thoughts i was expecting something really revolutionary like the personals and INITIALLY I was disappointed.. but after hitting quite a lot and having a good cpl of days thinking after a good few nights sleep, i think im very excited to get these, they WONT be the clubs for hitting off cement fairways like I though they wpould be.. i think they will be fantabulous for pretty much all conditions.. they are defiantly (my wording here) "an aggressive hybrid blade " an hard core all rounder.!

similar in playability to to the aftou BUT Not like it.. much more dynamic than those!

kinda same vein tho, easy to play blades without being super agreessive. a la miura TB or tourstge 905

The PW is an interesting look. Not going to be everyiones cup o tea here i mafraid ! it looks like its made to shoot lights out, but with forgiveness. its nice and edgey on sole but somfy and high on the face like the miura mb5002. the PW looks like it can get in deep and make balls sing. but provides the hitter with a measure of confort that they dont have to be tiger to get it close.

Unlike the personals which looked so much more startling on first sight in real life than piccys first did. the yamaha AT FISRT glance in the flesh didint make me go wowsah! Iwas muted in my appreciation of them , slightyl let down , then after a good work out with them I was . ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh yea. These gonna do very nicely indeed thank you very much ...........! very very nicely indeed.. these WILL be replacing all blades ot go to austlaiala next weekend with the personals...! and i havnt even got them yet nor swppaed out the shafts!!!

bring on the links.. i got links busters!

Stew

How's the non Tour v Eppn 302's in your opinion !?

I think the forgiveness on these was achieved with perhaps a somewhat shorter hosel to get more discretionary weight in the head, combined with subtle perimeter weighting along the top edge and the wider sole. Simple but clever way to get the classic look and feel with an added shot of forgiveness.

Look forward to further reviews of these.
