jaygolf
Has anybody tried them? The proto name is 2G1S. Initially I thought they were just a heavier version of the 120s when in fact they're completely different. 120s are soft butt stiff stip, 130 are the opposite (a bit heavier) I guess this all translates into a higher launch... Feedback welcome. Cheers Edited February 13, 2013 by jaygolf
ukok
Having a demo made up for me to hit next week for my Personals. 130g seems heavy but I am told it really performs. We shall see.

jaygolf
As, I am TX in the Modus 3's 120's (2 hours with my fitter last week), one gram either way will not make much difference. :tsg_smilie_smile2:/> 120's flex is supposedly not comparable to 130. Nippon rep told me if I was an X in 120, I'm probably an s or hard stepped s in 130.
ukok
It's the Nippon rep who suggested, I try the 130's. Anyhow, Tuesday will tell all?
nobmontana
I went to a fitter today to try the Modus3 130 and to decide on the flex for the set of shafts I won from Nippon on their facebook campaign. Bottom line, 130's are a monster of a steel shaft, guys! The fitter told me that he has not seen a more stouter steel shaft. For reference, my driver SS is around 108 mph to 113 mph. With Mizuno's iron fitting tool, the recommended shaft for me were DG X100 soft stepped once, PX 6.0 or KBS Tour X soft stepped once. Which were not surprising. What was surprising was that after trying some demo clubs with the 130's we ended up deciding on installing the 130's in Stiff flex soft stepped once in my new MP64 irons. This set up gave me the tightest dispersion along with good feel for loading the shaft on the down swing. The fitter will be installing the shafts in the next couple of weeks. Will provide feedback when I have them back and get to play on the course.
Vegaman
Aren't the Modus 130 supposed to be slightly softer but a touch heavier than the Modus 120? Edited February 17, 2013 by Vegaman
nobmontana
A touch heavier yes, softer, No. The profile of the 120s are tip stiff and 130s are butt stiff. but when you compare over overall stiffness between 120 and 130, 130s are a lot more stout. supo
i spent 2 hours with the NS rep yesterday at the show taking about the new modus 130. and the new regio shafts he showed me eveything in comparriosn the modus3. the differnces in the steel tapering inside thickness. and the fist thing that is unbelievably noticeable is the first step in the shaft. when u see it u think masively taught. crayzily low board like but it plays nothing like that imassured. a small number of palyers are already gaaing it on tour and its won 3or 4 times already. the feaures of it are very low spi,n high luanch that doesnt balloon .orfall over dead. more arcing. somewhere in between the ns 1150 and the sp orange from what i gather. meat to be a very smooth shaft .NOT soft ,ad NOT board like. veyr thin tip. mid strenth and soft tbutt.giving a nice smooth feel. cant wit to get them installed next week, .. will have the 6 iron ready to pay by tuesday. really loking fwd to these at 124 gram they are neither too heavy nor light suggestd a nice set of blades that launch not on the high side. think i know just what to stick them in.............. Spoon
The modus 130 in the usa website is code 2g18 That is exactly the prototype that sergio garcia uses. We all know what kind of ball striker sergio is http://modus3.us/?page_id=

ukok
If something is new, I want it but they did not want me. Against the Modus Tour 120, ball speed down, distance down and launch angle higher. Dispersion was slightly better. It has a unique almost counter balanced feel, the tip is softer which is where the increased launch comes from. Some hits felt lovely and a slight improvement was achieved after several swings but these were in the minority. If you can achieve a ball speed with a 6 iron in excess of 125-130, these could be for you, for me, I would be knackered half way round, missing my Modus 120's, which are now being fitted to my Personals. Against the Monaco's, the 130 Tours would win every time, unless you are playing a links course with the wind against using a three iron to hit the ball 100 yards. If you are tempted, they do play stiff and you should be man enough to play a softer flex than normal.
supo
great stuff..... i got the s tiff and my 6 wil be ready tonight. was a big call to go agaisnt the DPS or 2f15s, but ill give this a rip first im taking my newly installed aerotech 110x and 125s and monacco for a side by side comparison. better take another Ns shaft to see the differnce maybe the c-10 srixon that shud give a complete picture

ukok
dropped off my irons at my clubmaker yesterday to have the 130s installed......... oh dear what have I done? Don't be put off, everyone's swing is different, they may suit you perfectly. My advice would be to give them time, they feel very different from the 120's and will take time getting used to. I guess the worst that can happen is to put the old ones back in..... the launch appeals with these shafts, but I don't need anything too stiff thats for sure,. oh well experimentation is half the fun right.....? This is the first time a Stiff flex soft stepped shafts are going into my set of irons. I have a feeling these shafts are going to play great for me. Can't wait to try them out on the course!
