Romaro Sports had a very strong 2012 and they looked to ride that momentum right into 2013 by adding new clubs and accessories to an already awesome lineup. Last year saw all new drivers and woods as well as Pro Forged blades and the Ray H for better players. The Ray V Forged iron which were from late 2011 were still among the most popular irons for improving players and better players looking for forgiveness. Romaro though which has traditionally been a company focused on the athlete and better golfer decided it was time to tweak the Ray V Forged iron to make even more forgiving yet more appealing visually.

<a href="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7355.jpg"><img'>http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7355.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22148" alt="DSCF7355" src="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7355.jpg" /></a>

The took an already great design forged from S20C steel and featuring an undercut cavity with TPU insert, the sharpened off the shape of the cavity back creating a straighter top line and sharper toe but increased the forgiveness by changing the internal pocket cavity and weighting. The increased MOI and larger sweet spot equal less distance lost on miss hits and an overall more attractive package. The back cavity has a new V pattern which enhances feel at impact on the sweet spot. Romaro decided to release the improved V Forged as the TypeR which is the name of the new performance lineup aimed at the average golfer.

<a href="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7387.jpg"><img'>http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7387.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22151" alt="DSCF7387" src="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7387.jpg" /></a>

Romaro has always featured forged Titanium cup face fairway woods and utilities which is rare in golf other than drivers. The Ray FW and UT's from last year (which are still current) were well liked by the better player but average golfers did not find them as easy to play due to thicker faces and higher CG positioning aimed at stronger players. They redesigned all the fairway woods to feature thinner and hotter faces with lower and deeper CG positioning due to a new sole design with weighting similar to what the 460HX looks like. They even did it with the smaller Tour Select Head which is for the player who wants a smaller square faced head but with forgiveness.

<a href="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7397.jpg"><img'>http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7397.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22152" alt="DSCF7397" src="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7397.jpg" /></a>

<a href="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7371.jpg"><img'>http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7371.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22157" alt="DSCF7371" src="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7371.jpg" /></a>

They of course applied the new TypeR design to the standard Ti Fairway woods as well as the new utility which are both now available in either black or satin now. I spoke to the chief of sales who told me the new TypeR is very easy to launch and the face is a lot hotter especially for more average players. As always with Romaro the finish of the heads is top notch and very attractive.

<a href="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7378.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-22158" alt="DSCF7378" src="http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DSCF7378.jpg"/></a>

Last years Ray SX wedge was very very popular and the limited black versions sold out very quickly, they decided to tweak the SX with a more versatile S sole featuring toe and trailing edge relief as well as plenty of heel relief allowing for the wedge to open up nicely. The top blade features new CNC milling and the wedge is now available in black as standard.

Romaro is always well known for colorful accessories like bags, head covers and grips and the Golf Fair showed of some of their new colors in what looks like Lime Green/Yellow, Fuschia Purple and Sky Blue bags. I don't even know what these colors are officially called yet but they are definitely bright. Romaro mentioned that they actually have several scheduled club releases that we will see as 2013 progresses including new irons and new drivers which are currently in the final stages of design and development. We are certainly looking forward to seeing them all and testing them all out! The new TypeR line will release in late March and we will be reviewing them here at TSG as always!

A customer asked me the other day Epon vs RomaRo, I told him I would go for Epon. Then I thought a little more about it and realized I think I would actually choose RomaRo. Tatsuro and I put the Epon Personals against the RomaRo Pro Forged, I personally thought it was a toss up yet Tatsuro preferred the RomaRo, We have demos from both brands in Vegas and when we look back at our notes from a range session with 4 of us, 3 great players then me...:( The results were for RomaRo across the board even in the category of drivers and especially in wedges and fairways. It was AF-103 vs the 435/460 drivers and the 103 came in 3rd. Now the shafts were different with the Epon sporting a Diamana B-Series and the RomaRo's attached to DI-6's but anyway what's going on here? I did give the edge to the AF302 vs the RomaRo CX Forged BUT everyone else gave the nod to the CX as they liked it's setup & size a bit more.

For some reason even after that test day I was still bias for Epon, but after that customer asked me the question I came to the realization that RomaRo can toe up or even surpass the best of them. That includes brands like TourStage, Epon, and all the others. Anyway just my random thoughts for the day. Here's some more pics:

Fully agree! The 460HX is a gem of a driver and the Black has a very strng ball flight, great feel relative to the 435 and Kamui and boy does it have tons f roll as I found out recently on the course despite the wet conditions.

Irons.. what can I say... the H irons continue to be fantastic! Great clubs that perform backed up by great design and styling cues for me and a sleeper of a brand for now. How I like it.

Yup, Epon's name always comes up when it comes to quality and performance, but after a long testing session. I personally liked the Romaro Pro Forged over the Epon Personals. I saw a big difference in workability and trajectory control. The Personals were great, but I was able to do way more on command with the Pro Forged!

While Chris was pondering on which he thought was better, after a few side by side comparison it was clear to me that the Pro Forged was the winner! :) Ok. Epon lovers, feel free to fire away. LOL.

The Type-R releases = more forgiving & easier to hit yet with the same great setup.

So many great Irons by RomaRo. I'm also itching to try the Ray-H which I'm late to the party for.

Also, throwing in a comment on the i-bird... It's a great in place of a driving iron. I liked the crisp feel and how I can control it and keep a lower trajectory on it. I liked it especially because I play in some windy conditions.

That was what i was afraid off. I was referring to the adams

I prefer the look of the peanut..

Domu have an ibrid? How is it say compared to the adams a12?

I do have an i-brid, two in fact and was looking to get the third, just need to order the head...

I have a 16* A12 Pro that I have been waiting for spring to play. So I cannot do a performance based review. Appearance wise, I wish the i-bird came in the cajun finished face, but like the iron-like appearance from the address position of the i-brid. Also prefer the more compact size of the i-brid… Once I have some time to hit the Adams I can add more to the comparison...

Here are some side by sides photos. You'll notice the Adams needed to be man handled a little as it was giving me the "I am the most popular hybrid on tour" attitude and not as cooperative as the i-brid.

Thanks. I might get the 20 to muck around with. The a12 and royal collections look similar with their boxy toes.

Hmm this will be my next project!

When is the type R expected from ROMARO?

The blades they make have been on my mind for quite some time. Romaro has really stepped it up over the past couple years. Their previous utility looked very, very good and if not the RC solidly in the bag, I'm sure the Romaro would've made an appearance. The looks of the woods are very nice indeed.

I think I could build a complete RomaRo bag and not want for anything for a good amount of time.

I think...
