Tokyo Golf shops

As mentioned just back from 3 weeks in Japan skiing ,Disneyland, Tokyo and a couple of rounds of golf which I will post about with pictures later.

Any of us on this site are truly blessed when we go to Tokyo to have the wisdom of supo to guide us thru the mecca of second hand gold shops.

Went to Shinbashi to the Golden Triangle as he calls it.

Anyone going to Tokyo make sure you head there as it is an absolute eye opener and will just astound you.

Leave the wallet and credit card at home though.

The amount of quality clubs is just mind boggling.

As supo says you can pick up absolutely nothing or walk out with a dozen pearlers, depending on what has been traded.

The interesting thing is what there is a lot of and what there is very little of.

Some brands that are touted as being high end are a dime a dozen and can be bought for next to nothing including somemthat have only just been released. Already available easily second hand.

Anyone heading to Tokyo make sure you pencil in a trip or 2. They are open till late so you have plenty of time.

For the record I got off lightly. 3 Drivers, an old egg spoon, Epon hybrid, Egg iron and a set of Miura irons.

The flow of used gear in Japan is even more crazier than in the US.

They are very reasonably priced and typically in great condition.

Their gear do not get playing time as they do in many other countries.

After all, golf in Japan is still a luxury in their minds.

I get to go back there maybe once every two years and I just have to agree it is used gear heaven out there.

I am really surprised that there aren't more vendors reaching out to overseas buyers.

Perhaps with buy.com now becoming tourspecgolf.com in the US, it might open doors to vendors like "Golf Partner" and the likes.

They really need to think about exporting more stuff since their trade deficit is now the highest in history!!

True. They already used to export all their second hand cars in korea. They hate buying second hand stuffs. Definitly some room for biz there

Craig sounds like you had a blast! Stew knows where it's all at. Including food! Next time tell us when you in town we could have setup crazy or even a visit to the SYD show room in Ginza where you would have been able to see....;)

We're looking at possibly accepting trade ins in the near future, we've worked with golf partner for years trying to do just as you mentioned unfortunately there's no room in their pricing as after the seller makes money it's getting too close to buying brand new unless its an older product or in not so great condition plus those older models are already abundant on eBay.

Sometimes our BST is priced lower than walking into a used golf shop in Japan. For a lot of these chain stores corporate takes a cut then the franchisee must before it goes out. Then the issue of keeping a database updated with current stock...

I will be in TOkyo from 8~12th May ... It would be great oto have some addresses. I may try a visit to Crazy Factory!

In Shimbashi (where I usually stay); I know only 2 Golf shops near to the Don Quijote ドン・キホーテ (next to Mitsui Garden Hotel); but in my humble opinion these 2 shops are not that great...

There is a good Golf shop in one of the exits of the Shinjuku MTR (I know how to get there but not sure how to give directions); I also like the Shop in the top floor of the Yodobashi Camera shop in Akihabara,,,

Places that I also visit for clothes: Dance with the Dragon shop, Russeluno (inside Isetan Shinjuku) and TMT Classic (somewhere difficult to get). Usually also buy the Even Magazine to see the latest trends; this time I am planning to visit the Rough & Swell shop too.

Any other directions or ideas is pretty much appreciated.

Thanks

M.
