Posted May 6, 201311 yr Is there something out there that you can put on your blades to keep them looking brand stinking new...beside cleaning it with water and soap? Any input would be great.

May 7, 201311 yr get Gold Fac sword oil. I use it on every club. It kind of odourless and seems to be non-toxic. Very good product.
May 7, 201311 yr if you gonna oil them (personally i would only consider doing this for a very rare collectible set) be careful with so called sword oils you never know what you gonna get because original/traditional Japanese sword oil is some sort of plant based oil similar to cooking oil and is actually not the best thing and can cause rust and tends to be overpriced as well. its better than nothing i suppose and some die hard traditionalist sword enthusiasts or those who dont know better still use it for oiling their nihonto blades. just use standard non synthetic machine oil but make sure them blades are clean and completely dry before applying it otherwise it can actually trap moisture and make things worse. for swords they sell special powder (cant recall what its based on) that you put on a blade to suck any remaining moisture and then wipe with paper or cloth before applying oil i guess you can use the same for clubs. If they are played then you could polish them occasionally, but that is a bit much in my opinion. If raw, then you could use sword oil.
May 7, 201311 yr If raw heads, then oiling and keeping dry is needed... as well as not living in Thailand, Singapore or anywhere else too hot and humid... if they're nickel chrome plated then any oiling is completely unneccessary. You can even use them at the seaside beach, as long as you rinse them off with tap water afterwards ;-) Dings from bag chatter are inevitable unless you religiously use head covers. That new shiny look is lovely... but a bit of character is no bad thing - that first ding on your club will look the worst but give it time and enjoy using them for years, unless you ho them every 3 months then protect them as much as you can! I'm a bit partial to the smell of WD-40 myself. Edited May 7, 201311 yr by coops1967
May 7, 201311 yr or just make a baby or two and oiling your clubs would be the last thing you would have time for ;)
