akapur
Gents I received the New EGG FW 15 degree with the Fubuki Shaft in Stiff from TSG yesterday. Took it to the range after dropping my son off at soccer. After a bucket of balls I was pleased with the results. The club was very easy to hit. Off the tee the ball flew with a penetrating ball flight and great roll. Hard to judge total. Took the Egg to the course today for a quick round before work. I used it a total of 6 times. 4 times off the tee and twice from the turf on the long par 5's. Average distance from the tee was 240-250 yards with a baby fade. Ball started out on the left side of the fairway and worked it's way back to the middle each of the 4 times. Distances were confirmed using Range finder. The 2 times I used it on the par 5's resulted in great opportunities to score. On the first par 5 I had 230 to the pin left, hit the egg off the ground the ball ended up 10 yards short of the pin, but dead center of the green. The second time I had 220 to the pin and the green was elevated by 10 feet. Hit the Egg and I was on on the left of the green pin high. For a first time out these were great results. I am optimistic that this club is a winner, we will see how the honeymoon period works it self out. panicmotion
thanks for the review. been waiting for these to funnel in. did you own any of the previous spoons? if so, how do they compare? i have the 3w and 5w from the 2nd generation. i'd like to get a 4w in my bag to replace these two since i don't hit fw woods all that often anyway. was considering getting the 16.5* version of this. i have a qfex fw shaft sitting at home waiting to get shafted into something. I have the second generation FW 15 degree. For the longest time that was my go to FW. I purchased a SYard XV this year and it had replaced my Egg. With the new Egg I think it may eventually knock the XV out of the bag. For today the New Egg felt really easy to hit and the distance for my game was perfect. The Old egg feels similar but the distances I was getting are much better in the New Egg. The sound for the New Egg is much more pleasing and with the Fubuki shaft the the entire club feels smooth and comfortable.
Eca
Thanks for the review. Did the 2nd gen egg also have fubuki? Are you able to describe the improvement from 2nd gen egg to xv to latest egg? Cheers
driverhead
I also got my EGGs (15 and 16.5) in and played a test round today. Despite the deeper face the new Eggs are fabulous off the turf. I re shafted the 16.5 with an ALDILA BLUE ATX tour. Just an amazing combo. I used it for 2nd shots on 3 pars 5's and striped it pure around 230 carry and radar straight. The 15 degree I kept the M 43 shaft in and it was a beast off the tee. IN mid 50 degree temps on lush bermuda fws I could hit this 250 to 260 with no effort at all. I hit it longer than the 3 DEEP, and it felt hotter. The big improvements with the new egg fws are quality of contact at impact and turf interaction. The new egg has the smoothest almost glide action (steelheadl like) thru the turf, and that is a good thing. A great start. akapur
Thanks for the review. Did the 2nd gen egg also have fubuki? Are you able to describe the improvement from 2nd gen egg to xv to latest egg? Cheers The 2nd gen Egg had a Matrix shaft on it. The XV is longer then the 2nd gen Egg for me. I found the XV off the tee to be great, good distance low ball flight, as many have said it was akin to the the t.388 driver. Easier to hit then the t.388 but similar ball flight and roll. The New Egg has great potential. I believe it is longer then both the XV and 2nd gen Egg. Ball flight was very similar to the XV in that it was a low penetrating flight that resulted in a good amount of roll. My playing partners were surprised to see that on one occasion I was able to carry a fairway bunker off the tee without much effort. The ball landed 245 yards from the tee box. Not bad for a FW used for the first round out.

Eca
I really like the look of it & it sounds very promising. 3w is such a hard spot to fill for me & have gone a full season with a 15* hybrid. But courtesy of my buddy Gian11, I have the 2nd gen in play recently. I just cant imagine how another 3w will beat it in all aspects. The amazing 435 is just managing to beat it off the tee lol. Hope it really goes well for you gents.

caddie123
Am seriously considering picking one of these up. Any further reviews? In particular, how does it compare to the Ryoma FWs and the 2nd gen eggs in terms of distance/forgiveness?

Is this egg as easy to hit as the 2nd gen? As straight? How could anything be straighter than the F3 or feel more rewarding than the XV.. akapur
wow that's a pretty big deal. Is this egg as easy to hit as the 2nd gen? As straight? How could anything be straighter than the F3 or feel more rewarding than the XV.. Chris I found the New Egg to be easier to hit then the 2nd Gen Egg from both surfaces the turf and Tee box. The New Egg for me is comparable in distance to the F3. Both from the fairway are giving me around 220-230 yards with a full swing. I found the Egg easier to hit. This is a subjective statement but for me the Egg gives me the flight and distance I am looking for. The XV is a great FW. Very easy to hit good sound and feel. When I compared the two side by side I found that the Egg was more useful in the bag as I would use it from the fairway/long grass and tee box whenever I needed to. The XV from the Tee box is a mini driver great distance and nice flat ball flight. However I never felt the same confidence form the turf with it. So instead of going for it on the longer par 5's I would lay up. No such problem with the Egg, if it is in range I go for it on the par 5's and most times it works great. The three of them the F3, New Egg and XV are all great FW's you couldn't go wrong with any of them, what it came down to was personal feel and confidence. I would suggest that you try the three of them if you are unsure of which to go for. However if you are in love with the T388 driver then your will find the XV to fit nicely in your bag as it could easily be a mini T388. Bill3508
How do you think the m43 plays compared to the fubuki ax? Thinking of going 5 wood in the egg and 3 in the SV. Edited November 18, 2013 by Bill3508
akapur
How do you think the m43 plays compared to the fubuki ax? Thinking of going 5 wood in the egg and 3 in the SV. The Fubuki is a good shaft matches well with the head. Overall combo may be a tad light but I am still working on that. The M43 that I have in the UT is good but that combo also feels light. the Fubuki is worth the upgrade. The XV is a great FW, stock shaft was very good. PP735
My two cents on the new Egg. I just bought one from another member and I took it out to the range with my new to me but gently used Miura Retro Blades. I was concerned about the lightness of the M43 shaft as swung it around the yard and it showed up at the range. I am a sweeper/slider and my natural ball flight is high with a 5-10 yard fade when I am a little off and the occasional 5-10 draw out of nowhere! Was a little concerned with the back flange and turf interaction and as mentioned, the lightness of the setup. The ball jumped off the face and that was with some "dead" balls I happened to get at my range. I did pull a few shots with my normal swing though. Turf interaction was great, not that there was much at my range with the weather we have had, just a little collection in the groove on the sole. Did not try it off a tee for some reason, I was enjoying the sound and feel off the turf to much. For the best results, I had to slow my swing tempo down a lot with the stock shaft to get consistent results. This is fine for the range but not for the course, at least for me. I am looking for a shaft to put in it and I am thinking GD AD BB 6s, UST Mamiy ATTAS 3 60s or Crazy FW80 6.9. Will be taking it to the course this weekend and hope to have some great results and try it off the tee box. The track is tight and hilly and I think the Egg will perform just fine if I remember to slow things down! Cheers
supo
i finally bit the bullett and got one as well. puttign a proto matrix f8m2 in it as one of the second generation eggs we build with a f7m2 was a fantastic mix, the clubbuilder said this is a light head so ull need a heavier head. might just tip the matrix a bit to get the flight down a tad. wil be ready for the next time im at the range . like the new shape tho , smaller more comapct with a higher thicker face. he evensaid dont pu the diamana X into it need more weight. so if anyones looking to change shafts. .go heavier than ud normally go Edited January 20, 2014 by supo67
Tiptx4
Well I just received my new EGG as it's the 14.5 HD model with Tour AD MT6 shaft and Wow! the 1st time in a while since I swung any clubs and I was very impressed. It's not Ryoma D-1 Maxima long but I've never hit any other 3 wood as long as I did this one to include my once own RBZ 13.5* with Attas Element shaft or Adams Super XTD TI 13.5* with Fubuki shaft. I did top 2 in a row and today I only hit off the matts as its still very soft and damp here in Ohio. Ball flight is right where I love it to be as I don't think the flight reach any higher than 15 ft. This is a straight missile launcher for sure. Sound was good and it felt very stable thru impact as toe shots lost some distance and ones that made solid contact was like I had to stand motionless and pose after hitting it. A pure treat watching it penetrate thru a mild breeze directly in my face with 52* temperatures. Can't wait for the warmer weather to get here which is soon as I see myself tee'in off more with this than I ever have done before with any other 3 wood. I'm now understanding what all the hype/buzz was about as there is nothing better than having a 3 wood that is long as it is forgiving. There might be others more forgiving but not as long. Thanks to TSG for getting me fitted into this and for having patience in me trying to decide on exactly what I wanted. The Tour AD MT6 (yellow) shaft looks very nice and stealthy. I'm very pleased as I had a lot of people try to catch a glimpse of what name brand I was hitting but many of them were much younger than me and felt a little intimidated by someone my age hitting such beautiful shots off the mat longer than their driver. Plus it's early for most and maybe their swing wasn't what it should be yet. This is a very easy to hit 3W. I could go on but I'm not trying to steal anyone's thread as I'm just very impressed with my NEW EGG
