Waiting for the Typhoon to pass so I can go outside and test all these new clubs and get some outside shots but in the meantime, some indoor shots and impressions.

Beautiful looking cavity back. Satin finish, Very nice lines reminiscent of the 2011 Tourmodel. Not a tiny head which is probably a good thing as it allows the Tourmodel CB to appeal to a wider variety of players while the MB will take care of those who want small and compact.

The new milling on the face is interesting. A straight top line and a slightly sharper toe with a reasonably boxy toe that rounds towards the sole. The heel is a bit taller than expected.

The ridge in the back cavity is not just aesthetic but an actual separation between the slightly thicker bottom half vs the slightly thinner top half of the cavity. Again the cavity is thickest in the center where the Yamaha emblem is. This is for a more pure feel and to raise the CG a tad.

As always with Yamaha's a good and useful sole grind with evident leading edge relief and trailing edge relief.

What I don't like? A bit too busy in the back cavity with all those words but luckily tastefully done with only black and white paint fill. Offset, there is some. This is going to vary from person to person, but for some people it may be more offset than desired.

Here are some photos. Outdoor shots and testing once the weather clears. Lightly chipped around the house, and has that crisp but soft Endo feel...typical Yamaha.

I have owned each iteration since 2008. Despite questionable and head scratching designs, Yamaha always delivered. In this case, I expect they will do the same. No doubt they want to expand the appeal and playability beyond the low HC player. In my case, I am playing the best golf of my life however I welcome the CB to help me get even lower scores. Likely I will also pick up the MB at some time also.

If I hit this well and feel is nice, I will be more than happy. Now I just need to be patient.

T,

May be a good idea to retake the second photo. The shadow really makes the transition of the hosel to the top line look strange.

I'll reshoot that one... rushing as I have so much to take and only a limited time before I am forced to return them all! (loaners from the brands)

Okay the new one is up... can see the transition from topline to neck much better now.

I agree with gocchin about the back cavity, looks too busy to be sexy

Might be interested in these as well depending on timeframe for availability.

Availability already covered in the intro thread:

But of course demand at launch is always huge so its first come first served.

If they built in the offset from the MB into this head I'd order a set on the spot. At least a mm or so too much offset here for my taste. Good news is it saves me some dough. :tsg_smiley_geek:

I don't mind the "busy" as much as the minimum face progression. And BTW, I wish they'd list FP for their irons like almost everyone else does. Anybody told 'em that?

Definitely the new CB has more offset than previous years and the reason why is in the past the Tourmodel was only one model aimed at the single digit and pro. Now there are two tourmodels and because the MB focuses on the single digit and pro they can afford to make the CB target a much wider audience, meaning more forgiveness and a larger profile and more offset.

That said, I have been doing more testing of both the CB and RMX Forged... both very easy to hit, the distance is amazing on the RMX Forged but surprisingly the CB with its forgiveness is not far behind.

Should be a great combo. Keep us posted.

Yes I am excited. I am seen some really great pictures from any angle and these look stellar. The meat in the cavity bottom should be incredible. Initial reactions is they are long, soft, and reminiscent of the past models that were so great 2008/09/12.

Damnit, I may just have to force myself to get over the offset. Those are way too sexy to pass up. And you can just tell by looking at 'em that they'd feel great.

Excited to get mine. Will be the nicest irons I've ever owned.

I'm trying to wait til early spring to pull the trigger on a couple of the new irons that will be released for 2014 but....

I'm not sure if we're going to see anything better in a CB than these.

So.... why wait??

how does the 2014 CB compare in terms of distance and feel to the 2014 Forged and 2013 V-forged?

Currently using a set of 2013 v-forged and i am thinking of upgrading to the 2014 CB cus it looks so beautiful! Is it on the same level on forgiveness with 2014 CB and 2013 V-forged?

Thanks!
