I got my set today. I just played at range, so it would be brief.

- Set: 4 (OnOff Forged), 5-9&46* (CB358), all with Modus3 X stepped down

- Look: Its size and offset are moderate. Comfortable at address.

Top line looks a tad thick to me. Little glancing because there is no sand blast area in club face.

- Feel: Softer than Miura, but quite solid feeling at impact than I expected.

- Flight: Very easy to launch. I think it produces much spin.

Good to make various shots except knock-down.

- Forgiveness: Goodness!

I use Modus for the first time, and it feels lighter and softer than ProjectX 6.0.

I had troubles with timing and made some thin shots, but little loss in distance.

- First impression: Very well balanced club. For me, need some time to adapt.

I'll leave another review after playing in the field.

Also, received my set...

Overall Size is very nice, compact but not too small. Frames the ball nicely, HOWEVER the topline is NOT thinner then the 2013 OnOff Forged...

The 2013's topline is more rounded off where as the CB358's topline is very boxy and it's noticeable. This was probably done to increase the perimeter weighting(forgiveness)while making the overall head size smaller than the 2013 onoff forged.

Definitely less offset and smaller heel to toe but the topline could be a tad too thick-chunky-obese for a player looking for a compact players CB.

The plating is also not your typical satin chrome but a light bronze/gold hue.

Feels as soft as the 2013 onoff forged.

Playing 2 rounds this weekend so I will have a more indepth review after my rounds.

There might be a set of CB358 heads only on BST by Monday, stay tuned. :)

I'd play up to a 3 iron if they made it. I think this set is forgiving enough for a 3 iron to be added...(at least 4 iron) since they target better ball strikers.

probably flow in a 2013 on off forged 4 iron and maybe even a 3iron......sort of a combo set

Me too. I would definitely play it with a 3 iron. It's just too cumbersome to have 5, up to 6 clubs in my bag with a head cover.

I already have a set of the 2013's with the same shaft as the CB358's so that's what I plan on doing.

have a set on order.....and been pretty excited about it, but all this talk of thick top line reminds me of a time when a thief broke into my house at christmas, opened all the presents, then left empty handed because he didnt want any....

in order to manage my expectations - anyone have any idea how the top line compares to 302's/af tours?

comment_224508

scratch that - just understood the pix above..

(hadnt read the comments carefully to notice what was being compared to what! Top line defo looks thicker than was anticipating but do like how sharp/precise the edges are....guess will have to wait and see).

I don't think the '13 ONOFF top line is much thinner if at all, more a visual trick due to the angular nature of the 358. Definitely thicker than the Yams though. Another interesting thing in the pic is that the 358 looks larger than the Yam in the first one, but smaller in a later pic.

All 6i's... Yes, I did state that the 2013's topline is more rounded.

2nd pic is 2013 Onoff vs CB358

3rd pic is 2012 Yam Tour vs CB358

358's are very similar in size to the 2012 Yam tours imo.

Anybody thinking about getting these should realize that they're double nickel, which looks nothing like satinized chrome. Like OP says, they have a bronzish, goldish color instead of silver that's on chrome and brushed chrome. Makes a bigger difference in person than in most photos. If I were looking at these (I was, actually), I'd be much more concerned about that finish than the top line.

Thanks to baddmnkey for the comparo pics.

I think this pic shows the difference in finish pretty well It does have a bronze tint to it, very interesting.

The top line is similar in thickness to other players CB's it's not ground at the edges.

This change is very visual and mental it doesn't have that smooth curvy transition into the neck, The 358's transition is much stronger and straighter looking in it's lines. This is something new and different.

These are also unique for the ultra sharp toe but then again Shingo has always been a wild man with his gear no matter what brand he plays for.

To top it all off the entire face is CNC micro milled then it's laser engraved on top of that which is extra bad ass for Endo.

This also isn't a replacement for the 13 onoff forged, because they had to make all new molds for Shingo's fancy needs and the CB358 is part of that limited run.

Will Shingo be at Pinehurst this June?

Got a round in this morning and a short range session yesterday.

They feel solid on most impacts even less than stellar ones. A tad misleading compared to the blades I am used to. Flushed is almost as pure butter as the Miura BB, maybe a touch more than the TS 909 but maybe not.

Distance wise I picked up about 1/2 a club over the TS909 and close to 1.5 clubs over the PDG. Also, I had requested them be bent 1* weak on standard.

7 and shorter are towering with good stopping power and even some back up in them. 5 & 6 are more mid high. The more wedge like design of the PW should not be a limiting factor for full swings.

Lastly, I like the look of the finish and the boxy appearance.

So far I am a fan.
