Mjr. D
I'm thinking of selling my first ever set of blades - Mizuno MP 37 irons with True Temper Monaco Proto irons for a set of Chris' Seven s15c irons. I love buttery soft, spongey feeling irons. The softer the better. Mizuno is known for this but the Seven s15c is forged by the softest carbon available (I believe) and I have full confidence in Chris that these irons will be of upper echelon quality across the board. Do you guys think it's a good idea to get rid of my Mizuno MP37s with Monaco Protos for the Sevens? Should I keep the Monacos and just sell the Mizuno heads? Need some insight here. Thanks. nobmontana
Due to the age of the 37, normally I would say sell the combo instead of breaking it up. But can you reuse your Monaco shafts with your new Seven irons? and maybe shaft up the Mizzies with different shafts and keep them as backup? I just started playing Monacos in Stiff with X-Blade Ltd heads and I gotta say I am pretty impressed with how stable these shafts are. Very stable yet smooth! Modus 130s were as stable but much more stout.
Mjr. D
Ya I could keep them since I won't get much money for them anyway but I don't really want six sets of irons since I already have five which is, to most people, insane. I like the Monacos - definitely smooth and high launch and yes I could reuse them with the sevens but since the Sevens are s15c and uber soft I want to pair them with whatever the softest shaft on the market is... I don't think that would be the Monacos...
akapur
The Roddio i10's might be a good match for the Seven heads. I am contemplating a set for myself and I will be using it he Roddio shafts.
nobmontana
I'll be getting a couple of the new OT iron shafts in 95 Stiff in a few days. Since they are .370" tip I am gonna first try it in an AF-902 Hybrid to compare against the current Thump shaft. I'll let you know if the OT shafts are worth trying or not. supo
KEEP ur monaccos ,there is NO market for them what so ever. u may as well put them inthe ground and use them for ski slalom practice. plus u like the shafts and they are cut to fit already. lousifers
If the Monaco is in S flex, I'll buy it. PM me if so For the shaft, think you should consider Shimada. Very good soft feeling Mark

lousifers
There's something about Monaco shaft. I usually use 50-70g iron shafts, but got Monaco on AF-301 7i as practice club. It's never boring to hit this combo. If I hit this club first, I won't notice it's too heavy for me.. funking smooth
nobmontana
Got my two OTi 95 Stiff shafts on Wednesday. Instead of trying it in my AF902 ( AF902 Thump Combo is too good to change ) I decided to try in an older TM 2007 TP Rescue head. The TP Rescue actually had a .355 hosel so I had to sand down the tip to make it it. The thickness of the graphite at the tip is quite thick so I do not expect any problems sanding it down from .370 to .355. At the butt end where it is unpainted, you could see the braided graphite construction which was different from the graphite sheet weaving pattern I am accustomed to. ( Call me weird ... but I love looking at raw unpainted graphite weaves patterns!! ) I know that using this in a hybrid may not represent how the shaft might work with irons, Club is ready to be tested out ... unfortunately our weather in MT has gone back to the usual freezing temperatures. Won't be for another couple of weeks until I get back out again. I found a few Japanese reviews of this Oti shaft and they do seem to be really good. High launching, Steel like tight dispersion and control with graphite smoothness/vibration dampening properties. On paper, it sounds like the perfect graphite shaft. I guess we'll find out soon. Will keep you posted with my results.
EdGolf
Hmmm one of the shaft on shortlist to try... Just too bad they only come in .370. Any issue with tripping it down?

Gonna move my OTI feedback info to another thread since this is about Mjr D and what to do about his MP37. I'd say keep the heads and do a refinishing project, I think they would come come out really classy in either Copper or Dark Nickel finish.
