Mjr. D
Tried these at the range yesterday with the standard DG S200 shafts. Brilliant all around shafts. I'll give my full review later but in the mean time I'm thinking of shafting them with 2015 Modus 3 wedge shafts. KBS has their new wedge shafts for 2015 too but they prob feel atrocious. Haha. So my questions are: 1) Do you think I should use modus 3 wedge shafts in my 52,56,60 or just my 56,60 and match my 52 with what I use for my irons? 2) Typically I play X to XX flex in irons anywhere from 120-130g so what do you think I should choose for these wedge shaft? 52 in X at 133g, then 56 and 60 in S at 122g for more head weight and more tip movement for more spin or just keep them all X flex? Appreciate the help guys!
supo
i dont think u go lighter in the SW. unless u dont play a flop wedge ...... but if u hit the SW 100 yards + u wont get conssitane distance u shud prob go heaver and stiffer. why not play the monacco there aint nothing better in wedges tat those if u like a low boring flight at pins these are the absolute kings
+TourSpecGolfer
Modus3 Tour 125 for your power sir. All in X. To me it's the C-Taper of the Modus series with a higher trajectory yet similar accuracy.
Mjr. D
Thanks. Why not the Modus 3 wedge shafts in X stiff though? They were designed with feedbak from Jpga pros specifically for wedge play.
bk24bk
Question for you Mjr: do you find the Vokeys spin less than others JDM wedges? I've played a ton of JDM wedges and I had the 2014 CF and I have the 2015 CF and I just find they don't bite the same as others. Your thoughts or anyone who has experience with CF? Thanks. Mjr. D
I can't honestly say because this is the first set of conforming wedges I've played since the rule change. Based on range balls with 3/4 and 1/2 swings I find they bite really well actually. I was hitting shots out of the sand with a 56 and 60 using Titleist practice balls and they were stopping dead on the green and this is in a California drought so based on preliminary testing if you're compressing the ball well you should be just fine. If you open the face they really bite. Again this is with range balls! The one thing that stands out for me over the Gold's wedges and to a lessor extent the Sky Dream Jump type bite wedges I have no is the Vokey's are so easy to chip with from any lie. They're just a perfect size and so versatile. Feel is clicky if you miss slightly for excellent feedback and soft and pure (think miura) when pured. I love them. LeftoveRRice
Is there any difference between Cold Forged vs U.S spec Vokeys? Currently playing Yururi's Gekken Raw Non Conforming and looking to get CF or conforming Yururi's.
bk24bk
U.S. aren't forged. That's a big difference
needmoregolf
Yes, what is the real difference between using a 8 iron shaft cut to length in your fav steel shaft (modus 125/130, monaco, etc...), and using one of these "wedge" shafts? From my observation, I've had better results w/ full swings when using the regular steel shaft than the wedge shafts but around the green, its the opposite, and the wedge shafts seem to suit better for touch play. what are other's experiences? Appreciate the help guys! Modus 3 Wedge shafts don't come in different flexes.... single flex like the WV series. 3 different weights are available. If you want X flex in your wedges, you'll need to go with using Modus 3 iron shafts X-flex in wedge length.
