Staxxx
I can't afford 7D or Sanki...lol...but in a more plebeian realm, could you recommend your best distance shaft for this head. I am a naturally high hitter of the ball and would prefer a low spin shaft - don't mind launching it low, mid or high. Thanks for your advice. Jobu
S - may be helpful to know your clubhead speed and current ball flight. I've heard trpx air works well in this.
chiromikey
Quadra Max WBQ had me before the 7D
Staxxx
The Quadra sounds really interesting.... My swing speed is between 100 - 104 mph on the course. Fairly easy transition and high ball flight.
nobmontana
Max WBQ is as natural feeling as you get with Hi Modulus graphite shafts. Very smooth. But if you want distance with very little dispersion, I think Basileus AAA 2015 does a real good job at it. Perhaps harder to find at this point, but I am hoping that their new Beta series will be similar in performance.
nobmontana
Also NS Pro Regio Formula MB are really nice shafts for the price. I use a 75g in my A grind 7 wood and it goes straight!
mpbachman
+1 to the AAA, I think that would suit a strong swinger and definitely help with a lower launch angle...
Daveraul
Staxx.. I have similar concerns as you and I find the Diamana 'ahina 60(s) working quite well with my S-yard T.388 (9.5).. Low spin shaft, and brought down my high ball flight to low/mid.. I wouldn't call the shaft a distance monster but the low spin and low flight is helping tremendously on not just carry distance but also run length.. Daveraul
I recently got a Diamana X70(s) fitted to a jBeam RX-FW 3W from a nice chap on TSG and it feels fantastic.. Starting to consider exploring more Diamana options since I have had ridiculously high spin previously which caused quite a big of distance loss, plus adding in the high ball flight resulted in non-existent run after the ball lands.. Ian-500
You know what, I've hit a few of the high end shafts, and some not so high end but the thing I've found is that a ten your old PRGR Duo Compression with a stock M46 shaft in 70g is the longest I've had. Bonkers. My gamer at the moment is nearly there (Fuji VT 7.0) but not quite.
Ian-500
I recommend a Diamana X in 70g
Staxxx
Funny that my current favorite shaft is a Diamana SPlus (S) in the Emillid. It is a comfortable shaft for me, but is it and out and out distance shaft - I wonder? I did like the Messenger when I hit it too. Am going to try out the Quadra but not sure I can lay my hands on an AAA reasonably unfortunately. I am assuming these are out and out distance shafts rather than just really good shafts for feel etc. Daverall, you hit it on the nail with regards to ball flight and no roll out. Hence wanted to try to build the JBeam head a little differently from my other drivers .... Thanks all for recommendations! On the same lines as Ian here, for cost effective, great distance and pure performance I just acquired a speeder Tourspec 693 TR for pennys and it is wonderful. Hard to find but if you can snare one...you wont be sorry. ;) So many choices Serge....Oranges and apples ;)
