Have not been able to pin down to official announcements by Mizuno , but apparently they have a special edition MP5 with Copper underlay. The set also comes with a special edition Modus 125 System 3 that has a dark chrome finish on the butt half of the shaft.
This special edition is identified by a "CP" laser etching on the hosel. There are a couple of these on the Japanese auction site , one marked as "pre- release sale."
Not sure if these are official Mizuno lineup products or if a custom boutique perhaps did a limited custom run.
Either way, I do like the thought of an even softer feeling Mizuno Grain Flow Forged iron!

I hope Mizuno starts offering copper underlay option for their Yoro custom order clubs as well!

Hmmm interesting. they actually explain about the "CP" thing on the hosel in the custom order section of their website

but they don't actually have anything you can select in the page. Perhaps an in shop only option.

Interested as well. Good find. Let us know if you find out anything else about them.

Copper under has always been an option for Yoro Mizzys likewise with Miura Custom Crafting.

Got a ton of custom mizzy MP-55/MP-5's and the new wedges in a variety of finishes to post this week.

Copper underlay with a black finish on top is the best finish I have seen and used. Super soft and when the black fades the beautiful copper starts to appear. My Matsumoto putter looked sick in this finish

If I went with a black finish through clubworks I would definitely want the underlay as an option, can clubworks copper underlay as an option Chris?

I stand corrected Yoro will NOT do copper underlayer, the Mizuno reps offered these limited sets almost a year ago for pre order.

Hard to choose these with copper over a fully customized set of yoros with no copper as both are soft but my guess is + copper is a really nice feel.

A couple things about copper to note:

- Adds 1-2g+ to head weight

- copper + dip + hand process = oil can or smoked copper etc..

- copper only goes under plated chrome or satin finishes "usually"

Ahh.. So those MP5s are special builds!

I also found out that the revived TN87 are also a Cu underlay model.
