I Need Shaft Flex Understanding Please...

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a set of PRGR RS-Red irons and i really love them. I decided to see if I could fill out the set with PRGR clubs and I seem to run into some confusion about the shaft flexes.

My irons are M-40, supposedly senior flex and I'm happy with their performance. My RS-Red driver is the same... BUT, looking online for wedges and fairway woods, it looks like some people advertise M-40 as stiff or something in between stiff and regular.

I understand it's supposed to be based on swing speed and M-40 seems right for me, but is there something I'm missing? Can M-40 represent some spread of flex?

Thanks... Dennis

I think it's M37 ladies/senior, M40 regular, M43 stiff and M46 x stiff.

What is “R2 flex?? Is it an “A” flex I. Us?

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but it's relevent to something that just happened.

I eventually sold the PRGR set mentioned above and was pretty sorry I had soon after. Now, today, I took delivery of a newer set of PRGR irons that were supposed to be M37 flex, more suited to my 75 year old swing. When they arrived, I realized the 5 iron is M37, but the rest of the set is M40.

Trying to find anything resembling a senior flex in a Japanese golf club seems really difficult. Does anyone know why?

And I've already written the seller in Japan about returning these irons.

Color me frustrated...
