Posted April 8, 200420 yr comment_33348 Just a question: Assuming that money isn't a factor and assuming that Tour equipment is superior to retail...what would be more beneficial to the majority of players? 1. Getting fitted by an OEM with their current line of equipment; or 2. The pyschological boost of having a tour played, speced set? Not a question if tour is better than retail. Just want to know if I should quit the set for the grail irons/driver and just see what equipment fits my swing with a good fitting.

April 8, 200420 yr comment_33351 Easy--fitted equipment. People may not want to hear this but fitted (even game improvement) irons will shave more strokes off our game than tour/imported blades with x-100's.

April 8, 200420 yr comment_33363 Well, I did both. My Teaching Pro is also my clubmaker. So, he knows what's right for me. I bought the irons I wanted (Firesole Forged) heads only and he set them up to my specs. (Guess, that's what you call blueprinting) Did the same with my TM510 tour issue head. Got it head only straight from the TM tour department. Which means the head wasn't tweaked at all to match some Pro's game. That gave me the opportunity to make it work for me easily. haribo
April 8, 200420 yr comment_33386 I am probably the loudest advocate agains tour equipment... truth is unless you get a "tour" club and then take it to your clubmaker and have him fit you then you have about the same shot at getting a good club FOR YOU as you would if you sent the wife to the local pro shop telling her to pick you out something pretty. Think of buying clubs like buying an expensive suit... no matter what you get your going to have to get it tailored. That being said your better off taking the money you save on not going tour and putting it torwards the perfect shaft(s).
April 9, 200420 yr comment_33459 By far FITTED! F _ _ K "Tour" rated equipment, I could dig a club out of can, set it up, and call it TOUR. I would find some tour addicted retard to buy it. Every Pro is fitted to his liking, nothing comes off the rack perfect, ever! If you want to get serious about dropping strokes, your set NEW or OLD has to have some modifications for lie, length, angle, grip, flex, etc. Nice "Suit" analogy Petey Great Question.
April 9, 200420 yr comment_33554 Some of my worst buys were TOUR equipment. They were FITTED, BUT NOT FOR ME!!!! I don't have a tour swing speed, so retail and custom fitting works WAAAAAY better than the Tour drivers and irons I wasted money on. Now, imported, is another story. I believe the vast majority of Japanese forgings are better than the US (or Mexico) made equipment. Love my Firesole Forged and can't wait to get some TS F/UTs
