MOZ Ishihara is a very small and famous company in Japan known for making Tour wedges actually #2 last week with 12 in play. Mr. Ishihara is a famous hand grinder who is expanding into making putters and irons. I just got the account if anyone is interested, their selling point is the 1018 soft carbon steel. Mr. Ishihara is the only person who does the grinds for this brand so the price is at a premium. Here are some pics of their new products, look forward to them soon in your TSG catalog site.

I think the first one looks very similar to the MP-27s.

Those are great looking irons.

those type n wedges are absolutely stunning

Chris, any kind of custom grinds? Pricing? Bounce and loft combinations?

Differences between the old 515 wedges and these new ones? Can you get your hands on GD tuned wedges?

I don't know the differences between the old 515 wedge, MOZ is the most expensive brand next to the stuff like honma, access and majesty. Wedges 250 - 350 Irons 2200.00 +. No custom grinds etc.

Scratch club heads are forged in the same foundry?

Most quality Japan forged heads are made in Himeji. Ishihara is buying them from Himeji and Scratch is getting them from someone who knows Ishihara personally, Thats 2 to many people in the operation, i hope scratch can get rid of the middlemen soon.

What's the pricing on the MOZ blades?  Those look sweet!

retail is 2500.00 so i guess my price would be about 2200.00.

Can you comment on how the blades, cavity backs or clubs in general feel in comparison to Miura and Tourstage? Any other differences that you can explain, even in comparison to other wedges? I'm very interested in understanding the characteristics that make these so expensive.

I don't know I have never hit these Irons, the wedges I tried were last model 515s and they were soft, well built, grinds made forgiving similar to MP wedges in a way. They are probably expensive because the steel could be just a tad more in cost, The product line is very small & interesting, overall its very expensive and i would take Hiro M's any day of the week for that price. They are expensive because MR. Ishihara has a name for himself doing tour players wedges for many years and for him to hand grind and build your personal set is kind of a thrill. Same feel you get when Joe Kwok does your clubs :niceshot:

Speaking of MOZ wedges the 515's have got to be the softest wedges I've ever played. They have outstanding feel and control around the greens. Pitch shots check up nicely. They're expensive but worth every yen in my opinion. Mine weren't tuned by Gold's Factory (38,000 yen per wedge compared with the 25,000 yen I paid) but, without comparing them side by side I can't be sure how different or much better the wedges would perform with the Gold's process. All I can say is that they're really sweet wedges.

Hello,

I am very interested in buying MOZ 2030 irons.

Can anyone tell me where to get a set

[email protected]

Yourpressed, a member here, has or had a set. He can probably comment on the playability of these clubs. He has tried many of the premium irons out there. You might want to PM him on comparisons.

They are/were phenomenal clubs in terms of feel and surprisingly forgiving. I sold them to the original owner a couple weeks ago. If anyone can find you a set it would be Tourspecgolfer or some of the TSG members that reside in Asia.

Best of luck in your search.

I have seen a set a few years ago in Japan but have not seen one since then anywhere. Are they still in business selling irons or just wedges?

Now I would look for it when I am in Asia next (5 weeks time). Last time I have found a brand new Gauge Tubu for only $250 in its original box.

Good luck in your search for the MOZ 2030 irons. They are absolutely amazing, I finally got the set I originally had two years ago back. "Never say never", but don't see these leaving me again.

Aloha

that sounds like the set i bought from you and it has passed several hands before getting back home to you....sigh unfortunately the matching wedges were sold separately...that was a damn fine set.....i think it went first to sevenbirdies then to metalhead and then to yourpressed before making it back to you !!!!!

That sounds right. Still in really great shape. Wonder what happened to the wedges. I like to get them again, or some just like it.

Aloha

I read in another forum that a Scratch Prototype wedge(s) were forged by Ishihara. Don't know there is any truth in this.

Ishihara isnt a foundry, they do OEM assembly and purchase raw heads from himeji

There are no more Ishihara clubs made, the old man got sick.
