Guys, I need help on my iron set that is being built. I need to cut them to final length and put the grips on for final touch. However, I am little confused on this part. When we say final length of an iron set, say 37.75' on 5 iron, it's the length including the grip. The confusion I have is on the fact that there will be little bit of extra length from butt end of the grip so if I cut the shaft to exact length, the final length will be slightly longer due to butt end of the grip, am I right on this? What would be the best method to hit the exact length before the grip is on so I can get the exact length after the grip is intact? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Would buffing with sandpapers at least eliminate most of scratches? I don't know if I could even find a welder since I don't know much about welder or metal braising. I would definitely try the buffing with sandpaper first and see if it helps. At least if I could eliminate some of scratches, I would be happy man! Thanks for the information! Greatly appreciated!!

T, I just realized that I have one NS850 in one of my hybrids. I am going to pull it out and going to give it a try with that on 901 and see if it works out. Now, do you think I would need weight plugs on 901 reshafting to achieve around D0 swingweight? I know some irons do for higher swingweights but wonder 901 would need one, too. Thanks!

Thanks T for answering my question. 701s are working great for me. I have been switching between 701 and blades and not only 701 gives me more confidence, they feel more solid to me. They have unique tinkering sound and feel but works great for me. Now, 901s, I am not sure what it is. I don't think it's softness that's causing the trouble. I just can't get the timing right and get the club back to square at impact. I consider myself reasonably solid ball striker but it feels like my swing is way off when I swing 901s. Major problem with 901s is the inconsistency so I guess I would have to go with steel shafts. I do LOVE the feel and forgivness factor.

Anybody know tip diameter of AF-901s? taper or parallel? I just got 19, 22 with Machline UT shafts but for strange reason, the shaft just doesn't seem to work for me. So I am considering them reshafting them with NS750 or 850s. I love the overall design and feel but just the shaft isn't good match for me.

I am 5'10" and playing 46 inches EMB 9'. Consistancy is not an issue with the driver since it's so forgiving.

I think major magazines are influenced by companies who pay big bucks for their advertisement in one way or the other. But, I think Golf Magazine's case and their review on Epon iron is little extreme. Maybe the panels were bothered by the price tag or something but as far as pure performance is concerned, I just can't see how Epon iron can get THAT poor reviews, espcially comparison among most of the iron set in the review which I consider them 2nd grade by far below Epons. I am not some Epon fanatic, just regular guy who likes to try out different sticks from different brands for pure pleasure but IMO, Epons are one of the best, if not the best, in every category there can be for an iron.

I have always wondered how the graphite in a wedge would work. I want to try graphite in my wedges, but heavier ones for better control. I wonder if Tour AD 115s would be available with Epon wedges. It would be very interesting combo.

Hello, I would like to ask anyone who have played AF-901 w Shimada steel shaft and share their experience on the shaft. How do they compare to NS PRO 850 or 950s?? I have never tried nor actually haven't really heard the shaft before. I am about to pull trigger on AF-901 19 and 22 and the shaft is my last decision. I just got AF-701 NS PRO 1150s and I am not sure if going with graphite option would create little too much distance gap between 5 iron and 4 hybrid. I would much appreciate your input.

Will black oxide finish hold up better from wet condition than soft or teflon black? I am interested to know if they are more durable. Anybody experience with black oxide finish? I get to play under wet condition espcially when tee time is early in the morning and I am hesistant to use my soft black finish putter since they get rust so easily even during the round. I hate to see my beautiful putter with any rust. Obviously, beads boron would be the most durable finish but I am interested to know if black oxide is good alternate choice. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I always used golf pride tour velvet's. They provide stable grip and inexpensive indeed. I have used Iomic grips for a while. They are good but nothing superior over any other grips. I have tried the No1 grip for the first time last week and I really like their soft and tacky feeling. I would eventually get them in all of my clubs.

Anybody with experience with these shafts? I am looking at orange or blue, heavier shafts. I wonder how they are comparable to 1150 shaft. I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks!

idrive, How's your ball flight on 9' EMB compare to traditional Epon 9.5? The shaft plays big roll in ball flight but I need some comparison before choosing the loft. I am leaning toward 9' EMB since I can easily get the ball up in the air and also the fact that stock shaft has low kick point which will help with getting the ball up in the air easily. Thanks for your input.

Is it possible to install 0.355 taper iron shaft into 0.370 parallel tip? I am looking to get a head which seems to be 0.370 hosel but I can find the shaft I would want only in 0.355 taper. Thanks!

I was leaning toward TourAD as well over Axiv. How does the stock shaft play out? high tourque and light weight scares me little bit but there seems to be many good reviews on the stock shaft as well. I am about 96~100 mph ss and relatively medium transition type player with minimum wrist action and has fairly high ball flight. I would like to keep the ball down little bit with more roll. I don't have much problem with accuracy so I am looking for more distance with new stick. Thanks for any input.
