  1. Do you know if Crazy will be doing something in the 80s that has a low to mid launch? Am a fan of the Nippon SP Blue trajectory and would like to retain in while going much lighter in the shaft... Thanks, RIDuffer
  2. Did you try the RC before ordering? If so what were your thoughts on the head size, is the volume increase due to the height of the face or the depth as well? How is it to hit sans tee? Thanks, RIDuffer
  3. Can you describe the different performance profiles of the various Crazy iron shafts, including the Neo? Launch trajectory, spin, weight, etc... Thanks, RIDuffer
  4. What characteristics besides a lightweight were you after?
  5. The course I play most frequently is a fairly short course and although I carry an use a driver on it, there are really only two or three holes where I can actually lay into it. Otherwise it is a 3, 5 or 7 wood of the tee and from the deck on the par 5s. On the holes I use it on I am frequently left with 60-90 yard shots(60* wedge ~100 yds) and in a few instances risk flying through the fairways on the dog legs. Since I am in the process of building a new conforming bag over this and next season am considering dropping down to a 13* FW in lieu of the driver. I have an old TaylorMade V-Steel 13* that I am testing the theory with and it is proving fruitful. I have looked at the RC D/S but am unsure about the increased head size over a traditional FW and how it will hit of the deck when necessary. Same thoughts on the Maruman Shuttle as the RC D/S. What other options should I consider and why? Am I just being stupid for this approach? The rest of my bag is shaping up as the TourStage 905 blades 5-PW, OnOff ProWings utility 21 & 24*, wedges will probably happen early next season. So I will also be looking to put a ~17* FW in the bag as well. Thanks for your thoughts, RIDuffer
  6. Why did you go down the LY Neo path as opposed to the CB Evolution or the Limited iron shafts? I am thinking about these as well to put in a set of the Bridgestone 905s I just got. Hoping for a lower flight path than the NS 950 as well as lighter weight... Thanks, RIDuffer
  7. So the saga continues... Received the irons over the weekend and managed to get 14 holes in on them... Thankfully the course I play is short so using nothing longer than a 5 iron is feasible... Also, as I play early I have the course largely to myself and was able to play a few balls on each hole. Then I played 18 this morning but brought the woods so minimized the amount of irons shots. Aesthetically, they are a very nice looking club, although a raw finish would put them over the top... Size wise, I think they are a little bit longer heel to toe than the Miura baby blades but a shorter top to bottom. Also they are a tad less arched along the topline from heel to toe. With the limited amount of play on the clubs, I am very happy with the feel of the clubhead and am able to strike them fairly clean. I think the lie angle and shaft change will turn them into a tremendous club. I must admit to liking the "bulge" behind the sweet spot, I think the incremental weight directly behind increases the distance some as well as creates a stronger flight path to the Miuras. In regards to the "included" NS 950 WF shaft, the lighter weight is fun but is taking some getting used to. The ball flight with the shaft is significantly higher than I am used to and prefer, need to change. Want to try a lightweight alternative with a higher kick point. Possibly the Aerotech Steelfiber or a graphite shaft. The Diamana Thump or Crazy seem intriguing. Waiting on the OnOff utility clubs to arrive to complete the bag. Thanks for all the feedback..
  8. Does anyone have any comparisons between the above utility clubs? Looking for a lower launching club for 210 to 225. I frequently use a 7 wood to play between the 3 and 4 irons and am curios about an alternative... TIA, RIDuffer
  9. Still playing with shafts, but I like the 380 Yonex quite a bit....
  10. Size is not the predominant factor, performance and quality are. But I know that I like the appearance of the smaller head at adress and that confidence translates into better shot making. The RC, although I think I mentioned them in my orignal post had not been mentioned since... Have you hit them? Can you comment on their performance? Thanks, RIDuffer
  11. Edward, Are you referring to the the top line view of the various irons in comparison to the Miura or something else? Thanks, Steve L.
  12. No shortage of thoughts there Supo... On the 5002, I kinda have a set. Blade Golf used the blanks to make their TF-2s. I have the TF-2s sans the chrome plate so a copper finish. It is stunning how the copper in the contact area and on the sole tends to stay polished while the rest of the head patinas away. A very well done club, no doubt... Think I am going to do the following... Try and get the Tourstage 905's, since they are an LE and I think I still can. Worst case, they don't live up to expectation I can probably unload them for a modest loss, just like buying a 7 iron and deciding not to get the rest of the set. From there I can try Yonex once the blades hit the states and am guessing I might me able to get a hold of an Epon test club even if the specs don't line up will give a good indicator for feel If neither those gel well then I'll go back to the Miura. Next question is how to shaft the suckers... As I know the standard lie/length will need to be adjusted the shafts will need to be pulled. 1/2" long means at least one shaft needs to be replaced outright and am not sure how the stepping will impact the performance of the NGS WF system. Have and really like the NGS SP Blue that I currently use in my irons. I have also tried the KBS Tours in these heads, but possibly too much shaft for how I swing my irons. Should I go the graphite route or stick with steel? Ultimately, these should be my clubs for a while so I don't mind spending extra on the setup if it means a better game. Also I am not so vain that I care about flexes, meaning I don't mind if the shaft is a senior flex if it means better scoring... Swing speed on the driver is 108-117 depending on how loosened up I am while there is a considerable slow down on the irons to about 92-97 Grips are a no brainer and not up for discussion, Gripmaster leather wraps. Have had them on from the get go and after 3 yrs of almost daily play, in season, still in great shape. If you haven't tried them I would highly recommend giving them a swing... Thanks to all, RIDuffer
  13. Should I take the Yonex comment to be your recommendation? Is it a smallish sized head?
  14. Are these conforming? Also what is the process for custom length and lie? Alternately can they be shipped unassembled or purchased as head only?
  15. The Epon 302 are a cavity back, so ruled out. However the idea of a copper finished AF Tour sounds very intriguing. I have a back up set up the Blade Golf TF-2 with the chrome plating left off to expose the copper cushion, quite an attractive set... On the Yonex, does anyone have an idea on the head size, I agree that they are a nice looking club. Lastly, the Tourstage have my curiosity piqued as well but I tried some Bridgestone blades several years ago and they seemed harsh. You think that was an anomaly due to shaft selection or have they eliminated that over the years with better forging? Also, are any of these not conforming? I would assume there is no way to test a limited edition club, but what about the Epon or Yonex? Thanks again for the input...
  16. The time has come to refresh my irons. I currently play the Miura baby blades with NGS SP Blue shafts. I have grown accustomed to the smaller head, I like the way it frames the ball, and am a big fan of the feel of the Miura irons. Other than opting for the 1957 series or Miuraism SB-01 what else is there? The new RC, Epon, Yonex, Gold's, etc... Is there any oppty to demo or alternately purchase a 7 iron from the various manufacturers, to sample the goods as it were? TIA for your thoughts, RIDuffer
  17. You looking for heads only? I have a set of Miura baby blades with stiff KBS Tour black shafts and mahogany leather grips... If you're interested Best RIDuffer
  18. Any progress on the documentary?
  19. UST Proforce V2: Flex Weight Torque Launch Butt OD Butt Mid Tip Length S 76 g 2.2 Medium 0.605 " 267 7.0 28 4.0" 44 "
  20. Managed to find a Srixon W302 on ebay and figured I would give it a try... Put in a UST ProForce v2 shaft stiff flex... The Miura is far and away a better head. Feels more stable through the swing, feel at impact is more communicative, and the ball flight is is more piercing with the Miura. For now I guess I'll go back to the T/S V-Steel 3 wood as a back up to the Miura until I can find a better alternative...
  21. I know these don't consitute JDM, but anybody try the KZG RBT(360cc or 325cc) or SP700(355cc)?
  22. Any other info on the fairway woods and driver, besides they will be out in 2009?
  23. I am currently playing a Miura Precious Edition driver at 390cc. Quite a pleasure to hit and has a very unique thwok on good contact. Would like to know of other current drivers that are under 400cc. I am not a fan of the larger driver heads... Don't like the look, and don't enjoy how they feel during the swing. I don't have an issue hitting them, just not my bag... Thanks for the feedback...
