Mock Me if You Must!
Yeah, I couldnt convince myself until I got down near scratch again. Now it doesnt really matter what I look like using it - the rest of the game speaks for itself so I dont get made fun of (too often ;) haha)

Making the switch...
mmm.. if you are interested in a crisp feel, pretty topline, and forgivness: the Miura Giken PP9003 -- http://www.tourspecgolf.com/Miura-Giken-2011-PP9003-Forged-Iron-5PW-Head-Only or Miura PP9003 -- http://www.miuragolf.com/passingpoint-PP9003.asp these are actually the exact same club - the Miura Giken is the JDM version (Miura Giken, because Japanese law stipulates you cant sell a product using a familial title as a brand) and Miura which is the International version. The international version is MUCH sexier. Great clubs though - fit them with an MP711i shaft and you will have amazing forgiveness, performance, comfort, and ease of use. And then simply adjust the feel with a good JDM grip set :) all the - best

For Once and For All
For sure, this thread was not intended as a statement that all Honma clubs are crap and the people who play them idiots etc. (as I said - I have a few Honma clubs myself) -- Not my intent at all. As my sig. says - "Look into your heart, and play w/e the hell makes you happy" whether that be honma, yururi, geotech or an old boot strapped to a stick with some floss. I just wanted to hear about peoples experiences, the good and the bad. We cant put any club up on a pedestal an proclaim it to be great and beyond question.. (like people seem to do with religion...but thats a different topic) Though I feel like anyone who questions GF or Epon on this forum might be in for a thrashing lol.

For Once and For All
Yeah it was one of those moments where you realize you can buy a ferrari... so why not buy a ferrari. My research is based around investment finance so naturally I spend almost every waking hour trading (oh the joy in the past year...). At any rate I had made a fairly large sum of money in the weeks preceding the purchase and decided... why not. Horrible rational... and yet I think you are kind of right. I have a rack of clubs on my cramped little office wall of clubs (that I dont usually play), and the Honmas are definitely there... some sort of useless trophy.

Royal Collection TRC Utility for 2011

For Once and For All
Disclaimer (Almost like my SEC declaration of holdings and intent!): I do in fact own 3 Honma wedges and One Honma Driver. All custom fitted and built (yes with only the 2-star (aka. not-so-ballin Honma treatment - (im just a student!))) The simple fact: I was thoroughly unimpressed with all of my experiences with Honma - especially w.r.t. the price to performance ratio. The Question: What gives? What am I missing? Why such a high price? I dont see many people on this site gaming the gear.. Give me some feedback?

Ryoma Demo Club - Feedback Forum
Hey Tario, I would be VERY interested in doing a review for the Ryoma club. I have been considering purchasing one but would love to do a review and get a feel for it first. Let me know how we could arrange this. -A&B

Less is More! Smaller Driver Heads
final point for whoever was arguing with me about shaft length: "PRGR introduces its all new EGG Impact PX-01 Driver for 2010. This high tech 4 Titanium Mix driver is approaches distance performance in a different direction. Unlike other manufacturers who have gone with longer clubs ie drivers over 46" to acheive distance, the EGG Impact is shortened to 43.5" to ensure optimal impact resulting in higher ball speeds and more distance. A long driver over 46" is great as long as the player can consistently hit the sweet spot. PRGR found that with the shorter driver and heavier head, players not only increased overall swing speed but were able to strike the sweet spot on a more consistent basis equalling a 1m/s increase in ball speed and overall distance. The Impact Driver uses 4 kinds of Titanium" Citation: this very site.

Egg Impact
oh and to adress the other point - as we noted in my 'oh so popular' smaller driver heads thread, The shorter driver shaft is right up my alley :)

Egg Impact
Dont worry, I just ordered the r55 yesterday myself along with the bridge-stone science eye :) looking forward to getting out on the the Discovery Bay courses in HK in 2 weeks with the wedge ^_^

Egg Impact
Is anyone gaming the PRGR Egg Impact? Id be all over this if it was in 8.5* format. Ive been rolling through drivers lately - I cant find anything I like. The closest I have come is a 325cc KZG rbt shafted up nicely... The Ryoma has such great reviews I have seriously considered it, but it is just.... uglyy...... >_< Thoughts, etc?

Mock Me if You Must!
Feel free to mock me... but... I am seriously considering gaming......: the PRGR 2010 R55 WEDGE I play @ 3 HcP so this may seem like an odd choice. Here is my rational: While I am yet to confirm my bag for the start of the season it is will leave me room for 3 wedges. I will be playing a 50*, 60* Yururi rupas, I have always liked this combo because I am confident in my ability to work the ball in whatever way I wish from inside 130 with these 2. When I first started playing golf I had a coach from HK who really emphasized this philosophy. He felt that having too many wedges made the player rely heavily on equipment as opposed to learning the dynamics of the swing that allow a skilled player to control the ball (im not espousing this philosophy btw. I just grew up with it and it works for me - but before you go do it consider phil mickelson playing 4) anyway, with this extra club I am really considering stashing my ego at the door, I dont need a "Chipper" as im happy to use a hybrid for the purpose, but I had a playing partner who had a PRGR wedge (similar to the above - cant say for sure it was the same), he was a scratch player and coach of a University golf squad. He felt that having 2 "workable wedges" was great, but he liked to have a fall back club for when "the s**t hit the fan" or if he encountered a strange lie, condition or some borderline impossible shot. During the round he used the wedge four times each with great results. He encouraged me to check my ego and consider what such a club might do for my game. Anyway, Im curious what you guys think, let me know your thoughts? I love the idea they have for the grip on this club it just makes me sad that I will have to rip it off and resize the shaft as im really short. Or can I have done before it is sent? (cough* tario cough*)?? Thanks guys, ill be interested to hear your feedback.

Yonex 0 iron???
Sigh, just ordered my 0 Iron @ 16* with the UT-95 shaft (thanks Gocchin!) Hoping I dont find it quite as dreadful of the turf as you guys did. >_<

golds factory
KZG Z0 are great blades (as you can see i am currently playing them) - Golds (in my honest opinion) is overpriced - you are paying more for a particular look than anything else. Now lets clarify: they are great irons - but no better than your ZO blades - at a higher price. Certainly no better than a set of vegas or yururis which you should also be able to get for a lower price. Case in point the 500 dollar golds wedges -.... inexplicable when you look at your other choices..

2 & 4 Wood Suggestions
its great stuff - its won a bunch of awards over the past few years. Hakaido has a climate very similar to northern scotland so the malting results are very similar. I find that the Yamazaki single malts have a nice fresh taste that makes them very drinkable. Right now im sipping on a 21 y.o. Benromach - its very nice also :) anyway else like single malts? scotch in general?

2 & 4 Wood Suggestions
everytime i see your sig I start craving single malt, and because I am on a JDM website I start craving some 18 y.o. Yamazaki Single Malt..... * wanders off and pours a glass*

This has been a great discussion guys! Thanks for all the input!

Less is More! Smaller Driver Heads
Plane absolutely does, a natural rotation occurs when the swing is less shallow. your right - a professional can learn to cope with all sorts of swing variations, this is mostly due to the fact that they do absolutely nothing else other than swing a golf club. Look at Phil taking it way past 90 over the with a heel twist - ugly ass swing, horrible for the average player, works like gold for phil (unless he is coming down the stretch in the lead), For the weekend player, this isnt viable. Get your hands on one of Tiger's old clinic videos - he mentions the advantages of a shorter shaft in squaring the face, thats why he was one of the last pros to switch from steel to a longer graphite shaft.

hoya crystal putter......,
thats ... just awesome that you bought it :) -- cheers to a real golf champ!
