Squaring the club face, blades vs CB.
Maybe I'm nuts but I want to play blade irons on the frequent windy days we have but onoffs whenever weather allows. I can flight the ball pretty well with the onoff combo but I'm never short on justifications for buying more clubs. And yes the notion of Spoom not swapping irons before May let alone all year is ludicrous

I'd have to swap a shaft into the onoff or vice versa. Onoff is the most GI head I've had my hands on in a while with the tungsten and perimeter weighting coupled with minimal offset its a rare beast.

They're short from heel to toe with some offset

Personals ant. Cutaway toe never played an iron that seems to square so easily as it. I get more good natural flush contact with that combo than anything I've ever played.

Haha if it were only that easy!

Squaring the club face, blades vs CB.
Got used to playing more of a blade design and then have been playing the Onoff Forged 2013 a lot lately. Can't help but notice that with all that toe weight and a somewhat larger head how much more I have to consciously release the club to get the face back to square. I believe this is why most GI irons have more offset to help with squaring the club face with the toe heavy designs. Since the Onoff doesn't have much offset at all, it exacerbates the issue. It isn't something that really bothers me but it is something I have to remember when playing them so far because otherwise I'm hitting fades whereas I hit soft well struck draws with the same swing on most blade type irons. I also wonder if this is why some people legitimately play better with blades than cavity backs? I can definitely see weaker players who struggle with a fade having some trouble with squaring these irons at first. Just food for thought and wondering if anyone has ever noticed the same thing. I am playing stout, tip stiff shafts in these which contributes I'm sure. Loving this setup...this all just kind of dawned on me.

Why there is no Epon on TSG anymore.
I'd need an ugly umbrella girl or I'd get performance anxiety.

New driver shaft required
It's hard to really put the finger on the difference. There's really nothing like a Crazy shaft that I've tried before. I've had Diamana and GD shafts but never a Quadra yet. But there is a crispy/glassy feeling on pure impact that just feels like you've transferred every iota of energy you created into the ball. They have a lot of pop to them. The Crazy is more brazen and brash and outspoken whereas other high end shafts tend towards the mellow side. They're kinda...well, Crazy! That's really about the best I can describe them relative to others and it really may not be everyone's cup of tea. You really feel like you can go after it if you need to but without a boardy dead feeling.

ONOFF 2013 Product Launch Thread
I just walked my first round of the new year… The bunkers are still filled with snow and this frost is coming out of the ground so there's about an inch of mushy slop on the fairways so a lot of my drives were plugged. The greens had been plugged at the end of the season and were quite difficult to putt on. That said I might've had the best iron round of my entire life with the onoffs and recoils. Shot a first round 84 from the tips with zero driver rollout and 36 putts. Ball flight is mid high and strong, backed several approach shots up on the soft greens which left me long putts. (I'm used to allowing for rollout.) This is bar none my most enjoyable set to play I've ever had. Only complaint I have is that since I have my Yururis getting Recoils put in I had to use PW way more than I'd like to and it isn't great around the greens. But that won't be an issue when I get my wedges back. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone but the staunchest compact head thin topline purists.

ryoma v-spec and vertical gear effect
My Ryoma experience was a little befuddling to me as it really wasn't that long and I didn't really hit it any straighter than anything else on average. What I did notice was weird though was sometimes I would hit these pure lasers that wouldn't bend at all in any direction from the time they left the club til the time they hit the ground. Usually I have and prefer some shot shape and have it with most drivers but found that a bit odd. The phenomenon you're referring to I've seen with 910D2, that for the most part, I absolutely hated because it spun into orbit for me. Meaning high shots that ultimately fell from the sky and didn't give me much distance. I was just thinking about some of my most memorable drives ever the other night and I was surprised that several of them actually came with that setup. For the most part it was just another driver for me but the ones I hit just right were straight up man-bombs. We played in a coed scramble 2 Mays ago "The Bro's and Ho's Scramble" and nuked one onto the green on an uphill par 4 that was 305 or so. Hit one past the green on a par 4 on our home course that I still haven't duplicated in probably a hundred rounds there since. Guess she just had a magic G spot I couldn't find very often. Story of my life.

Taylormade Japan & Adams Golf 2013 Japan Golf Fair
I keep looking at that Gloire driver and I can't help but have the mental picture of hitting that thing on a cold day and having the ball end up inside the head.
