  1. Wow, Chris, you're amazing! Again, gorgeous photos -- the place looks like Shangri La. (Unfortunately I've never been able to get over my feelings about 'Nam formed in the '60's...) You're a brave man -- and you must be in incredible shape! Thanks for posting. Will show these pics to some film folk friends of mine. --Richard
  2. Beautiful, just beautiful! I'd be sleeping with that one! Congrats, Hutchy. Can't wait to hear how it feels.

Great setup, Ash - including the bag. Hope the knee continues to get stronger. You're really liking the way the Seven putter rolls, huh?
  5. whew........ take my breath away...
  6. I agree with you, Chris, and with what you've said from the first -- that a line of irons in some kind of simple and elegant stealth black or smoked satin to go with the t.388 and XV woods would have been magic. As a huge fan of that driver and those woods, it would have filled my (S-Yard) bag with S-Yard irons, too.
  7. Last time I'll use my phone for the BST after a round (and a Guinness...)...
  8. My apologies to you, HB, and to all. Not like me. Don't know what I was thinking. Sorry.
  9. I think we spoke once when I got my Miura 64-K wedge. I notice you grabbed one of those dozen as well. Nice, isn't it?
  10. I have a set of the S-Yard GTS's in the BST forum as well, at a very low price. And they do have leading and trailing edge relief. But I understand your desire for perhaps a thinner top line. I've gone with the Yamaha RMX MB's this year and they are wonderful player's clubs. I'm sure the CB is as well. Chris really knows his stuff...
  11. If anyone else is interested in the clubs, I also have a set of the GTS's on sale here in BST at a great price with NS Pro shafts. Can't seem to paste a link, but you can find them if you do a search of the BST for "S-Yard GT-S."
  12. Amazing -- we're getting close to the Holy Grail -- a Light Sabre!
  13. This is a thread that keeps on giving! Congrats again, Hutchy. And as always, highest compliments to the Master and to TSG.
  14. Your subject matter is indeed beautiful, Chris, but you are also a gifted photographer with a fine eye. Thanks for posting.

How would you compare this to the Zen, Stew?
  17. Like the look of that ONOFF bag in your pic, Stew. ;=]
  18. Hi, maybe I'll get this started with a slightly different point of view. The short game is my thing. I spend hours and hours practicing with my wedges, and I can never get enough. I have a pitching/putting green in my backyard and I pull a net across the back of it to practice my wedge game from just off the green to back 10 to 20 yards. I simply love my wedges. (And yes, I've slept with new ones next to my bed at night so often that my wife doesn't even say anything any more...) What I hear most often from playing partners is, "Nice touch..." when I get out of trouble or wedge one close. Long story reduced, like you, I tend to stick with Miura's for the feel and precision, although I experiment a lot with my gap wedge. (Most recently am giving the 51.5 Zodia Point-5 a workout.) To get to your actual question though about shafts, after A LOT of experimentation, I've moved toward lighter shafts, especially for my higher degree wedges. I stuck with DG Spinners the longest, but just lately have moved to a shaft recommended here on the site, the NS Pro 105 weight WV shaft. In a long line of shafts that have come and gone, this one has stood out for me both in terms of feel and precision. And I include spin in that last part. For me, great spin has to be variable, depending on the shot that's called for. And this WV shaft is the most versatile I've found in a long while. I can hit bump and release shots or I can pinch a shot to stop dead. On approaches, I can back it up or make it release. There seems to be a great communication between my hands and the shaft. I know I'm different in preferring a lighter shaft, and maybe that has to do with my touch, but I find that light often equates to precision for me on the most delicate shots, which for me is just about anything where I have a wedge in my hands. At the moment, I can't say enough good things about this shaft -- especially in my Miura's, both Y and K, where it seems a perfect fit for the feel and precision I've always appreciated in the heads. Good luck and good experimenting to you.
  19. As a big fan of the Z:en, I'll be curious to hear how you compare this putter when finished. Really enjoying the progress pics of the Golds process, as always.

BTW, meant to mention my thanks to Stew and Ash for suggesting the NS Pro WV wedge shaft. I put in a few of my wedges and agree it's a wonderful shaft. Am liking it more than the DG Spinners I was using. Great feel, very precise, good spin control. I got it in the new Zodia as well. Thanks, guyz.

mp: Yeah, I love the Y-grinds too. But just yesterday I actually kissed the 64-K after lobbing over a trap from rough just off a green and leaving it inside the handle.

No tasting menu is complete without Miura on it. Although I just received my first Zodia Point-5 Spec as I was typing that... <g> (Thanks, Chris!)
