  1. Have you tried the TRPX X-Line? I think these Bangvoo's are more for the athlete player not the Beast player type like you. 787 was a closer match. By the way TRPX is working on an X-Line W (Heavy) shaft that works well in both drivers and fairways.
  2. via www.golftoimpress.com Royal Collection has a pretty big spread lined up for 2014 and at the Japan Golf Fair they were out in full force focusing the attention on the new RC 6 Series which includes the following new items: BBD 106V - Driver BBD 306V - Fairway Wood BBD 506V - Hybrid Wood BBD 706V - Hybrid Driving Iron BBD 706V - Forged Irons DB Double Milled Forged Wedge Let's start with the big dog, the BBD 106V Driver, Royal Collection appears to have this design well thought out. It's 435cc's making for a nice look from above and the good news is it's made at Endo of using their proprietary VL Titanium cup face and it's definitely pear shaped designed for the stronger athlete who wants a more penetrating trajectroy. Available in 9.5 & 10.5 in stock form it's 199 grams which is on the heavy side when it comes to Japanese driver head weights. It's a 4 piece cup faced driver that features what's called a Multi oval structure behind the face to create a more powerful rebound off the face. Looking at the CG height and depth its definitely designed for a medium trajectory. Stock shaft is a Fujikura Rombax BBD collaboration shaft with a 3 axis weave available in 55,60,& 70 gram range weights but of course you have access to a variety of the top Japanese shafts with TSG as usual. Next up is the new Royal Collection BBD 306V Fairway wood. It's compact with a 3 wood at 156cc as it gets smaller toward the 7wd. Made using a 2 piece construction the body is SUS630 while the face is 455 stainless steel. All face angles for each loft is slightly open. The new 306V features a V cut cavity sole to help get through various conditions while keeping a straighter path for a better more tight dispersion. The face was thinned further at 2.0mm making it very thing for a fairway wood providing a hotter face for more distance and based on CG numbers combined with the face height it appears this will be a fairway wood easier to get up while creating a flatter mid trajectory. Above the new Royal Collection BBD 506V Utility Wood and like the FW it features the same SUS630 body with a 455 SS face, It's available in 18/21/24/27* lofts with a dead square face angle. The shaft selection is also pretty robust RC offers 60,65,75 gram Fujikura rombax utility shafts or the 98 gram NS950GH UT shaft in steel. The Hybrid driving iron is named the 706V Hybrid. Very different than the 506 wood style hybrid as most driving irons get a lower trajectory while maintaining a tighter dispersion. The main difference is how a wood hybrid vs an iron hybrid land on the green most often wood versions land softer coming in from a higher angle while the iron spec comes in often with more roll. The materials are a little different in this one, the body is made of 455 stainless while the face is SUS450 so it is very much like a hot faced 2 piece iron made of stainless. The face wall thickness is also pretty thin at 2mm and the head is a hollow structure with a low center of gravity helping you get it in the air. With the 706V Driving Iron you have shaft options like the popular Modus3, NS950, or DGS200 and the head itself is available in 18/20/23* lofts. I'm looking forward to this DI to go up against the Epon AF-903, it seems this one is a bit more pure in design and compact overall while the Epon should feel softer as it's forged. The Royal Collection 706V Forged Iron is a beauty isn't it? It's forged of S25C with a laser etched face milling process and within the cavity a TPU vibration absorbing material. Finished of in both brushed satin and mirror satin it has a really clean modern look to it. I also like how RC has the driving iron blend flawlessly into not on the shape of this iron but also loft & lie angle. The 706V irons are available 4-PW a nice addition would be the 706 driving iron as well. It's close to mid sized, about 40% bigger than the previous iron it replaces. RC did a couple of cool things with it providing a thin sole with a good sized leading edge grind so you can be less afraid of it digging or bouncing so much against the turf. I'm actually more excited to find how it feels with that TPU shock absorber piece combined with the forged S25C. The whole purpose of this is to make mis hits feel softer and les harsh. Finishing up the new line up is the Royal Collection DB Forged Double Milled Wedge. S25C, with a brushed satin finish. RC has made it available in 50/52/56/58* lofts with a laser etched face similar to the 706V Forged irons. Hope you enjoyed the brief breakdown of the RC 6 series. look forward to real world reviews coming early 2014.
  3. I agree Toki, also competition for shafts is pretty insane as well. In Japan many are giving this new MAVC80 AND The Doggatti some of the highest ratings. They also fit TSG's demographic better than many Japanese brands because they play more stable and stout with heavier weights. I'm intrigued because I didn't have the power to handle the 787 BangVoo but this MAVC80 looks perfect and so does the Doggatti for my swing. This photo shows the Vectran metal fiber in the tip area a little better.
  4. via www.golftoimpress.com The ONOFF Forged Iron, One of TSG's best performing and most popular cavity backs revamped in 2014 with a major overhaul this time positioning it to appeal to the player looking for a more compact presence and workability. The previous 3 versions have all had stellar reviews in many areas from feel (Endo S20C) to forgiveness and distance. The only thing some found lacking was workability and it appears ONOFF has addressed this with a very new yet familiar design. Shingo Katayama has been playing this iron in prototype form since the start of the JPGA golf season and variants from the previous season. His input has influenced this latest rendition quite a bit. Looking at the photo above you will first notice the iron has a very sharp toe. Very different and cool looking something that we don't see as extreme in any other brand. The second major thing to notice is the laser etched face another feature that is exclusive to Endo technology. For those of you who have hit or seen the previous ONOFF Forged models you are probably drooling over the reduced offset and overall size of the iron in this top line image. Surprisingly ONOFF also claims that the forgiveness is the same as well, If this is truly the case we are all in for a treat as the predecessor of this iron was known as an extremely mid sized cavity back so keeping that the same but importing that performance into this more compact body the ONOFF Forged CB-358 now appeals to the compact CB player as well as the mid sized. The sole has also been revised it has a much more pronounced leading edge relief grind for people have a little more of a steep entry. It's also a lot shorter from heel to toe like all angles of this iron and more narrow or thin making it a stronger evolution in design that we have seen coming from the 2012 to 2013 versions of this club So there you have it our initial impressions on the new CB-358 ONOFF forged iron. It is scheduled to release mid march and the TourSpecGolf will have pre orders up shortly so that our customers can secure as many as possible from the first production run.
  5. via www.golftoimpress.com Lefties rejoice! The Ryoma Maxima will indeed be available in left handed starting march 22nd here at TourSpecGolf. Lefty gear is few and far between in Japan simply because only 2-3% of Japan is left handed. A few brands dominate the lefty market here while most decide to stay out of it due to such a tiny market segment. Ryoma has long been considered the longest and one of the most forgiving drivers today in the JDM golf scene when teamed with the proper shaft for your swing, Look forward to the left handed in the TourSpecGolf Online Store late March!
  6. My best driving rounds have come with the D-013 w/messenger combo. The messenger shaft is my favorite, it plays just a tad softer than most stiffs which is a very good thing because it's stable. I made this mistake of going the 44" route as I posted in a previous thread. It really changed the way the driver played for me even though I kept the same swing weight with the weight kit. When I get back from Asia i'm putting in a 45.5" in both my Ryoma Maxima & D-013. Good news guys, Yesterday we met with TRPX brass and they agree'd to make the heads 200g for us with no up charge or internal weighting. So no need to buy the Crazy Weight kit unless you want a stupidly heavy weight.
  7. via www.golftoimpress.com This year at the 2014 Japan Golf Fair Hiroshi Yoshimoto-san creator and president of Muziik golf proudly shared with us some of his latest offerings. TourSpecGolf has been the International Muziik dealer for several years now with a powerful yet small line up including the Muziik BanVoo 787 Speeder by Fujikura which still to this day is the highest quality carbon Fujikura shaft has made available to the public. Muziik is also very popular for their iron, wood, and especially putter grips. My favorite grip has always been the argyle series. The two images above highlight Muziik's new Forged iron CB & MB It's name is "On the Screw" Forged Iron and it employs an S20C soft carbon Japanese steel material. Above what looks similar to the current BangVoo, this one is far more advanced in materials and technology. There are currently 8 types of BangVoo (Bamboo) shafts in the Muziik line up. Original 7oT Premium, Ladies 50g version, The Beast the 787 70T + 50T for fast swinger, Premium Light 40g 70/50T, and multiple irons shafts. Now enter the all new 80T BangVoo MAVC80 which features a metal super fiber in the tip called vectran... Indeed special and one of the most advanced shafts on the market today period... It's an 80T double-high elastic sheet structure using the entire length also 50 tons triaxial woven fabric over it . Furthermore, the lavish use of super fiber "Vectran" to stabilize the behavior of the shaft, a material that ties molecules and fibers of a solid polymer, for a tight intentional dispersion yet with a powerful kick. It's 80t high modulus creates more distance and a faster head speed while the metal sheet produces great feeling and improved dispersion. The Bangvoo MAVC80 is what I would consider the perfect weight in R flex it is 65 grams then there are two version of S-Flex something I love about Muziik. S-250cpm & S-260cpm 67g/69g. I wish other brands took note of this strategy as Stiff for TSG anyway is the most popular yet it can't fit everyone perfectly so two options are in my opinion a must have for the serious shaft maker. One thing to note, with 80T especially with an additional layer of 50T & a hybrid material in the tip higher torque numbers perform far better than lower. 4.5 tq is what you get here and we would have it no other way. All that said for the best shaft tech you will pay a pretty price. This shaft is expensive costing about 1k. We understand thats a lot of coin, but hope we did a sufficient job in explaining why the high cost. Costing half that a around $500 there is now the Muziik Dogatti SIX shaft, It's still beyond than what most brands offer at their highest end. The Dogatti is made of 50T carbon with an additional 5 weave 40T layer strategically placed over it. This design is meant to keep the ball straight and land you in the fairway. Very stable with R/S/X ranging from R/67g/240cpm - S/69g/260cpm - X/71g/280cpm. If you compare it to whats out by the top shaft brand even this more cost effective model by Muzzik outshines them in technology, materials, & design. There are many other products that Muzzik has recently announced from other more forgiving iron sets to new wedges, a couple of interesting design fairway wood models and drivers and putters. It's now a very complete line up and we will cover the rest shortly as the new products roll in.
  8. Anyway being this is now a topic on Damscus I'll post my beauty. Authentic Damscus blade with original Ivory handle from the Mughal Empire era 17th century. Purchased last year from an auction in Udaipur India. 8 years ago I also had a the 24th generation of the family Masamune, Tsunahiro Yamamura in Kamakura build me a Katana which I will pass to my child when I have one..lol took 16 months to make it's locked away in a safety depsoit box and I haven't seen it in at least 5 years. Will post pics it the next time it's pulled.
  9. Congrats man, were happy your happy. These are the most precise MB I've seen performance wise and I personally like softer shafts on blades for feel and ease of use. I truly wish I had your ball striking skills then these would be in my bag as well.
  10. Yes traditional wootz (original Damascus) supposedly made the best sword right? Tamahagane was superior in method but not mix I believe.
  11. I think we are saying the same thing. It's not real Damascus just like anything not made in the Champagne region isn't Champagne. btw I absolutely love France! I'm jealous by all measures and so is my wife!
  12. Your trajectory is pretty low, Imagine that spin rate with something around 11-12*. How does the shaft feel throughout the swing for you? Is it loading and un loading nicely or do you not notice much? gear wise there are a few ways to go about this, changing to a higher loft or the S-013 head, re shafting it, or one could add heavier crazy weights hoping that makes the shaft play kickier. Also LM can be deceiving because many swing differently on the LM than on the course. It's your on course swing that matters most not sure if that's what your doing. Obviously tee'ing it up more and catching it on the ups but I'm not sure if thats your natural tendency.
  13. I love the XV, It's unique and special. It's the 388 fairway wood imo shouldn't have been stuffed into the XV line up. but... S-Yard isn't looking so healthy right now as a company. Mr. Kobayashi has resigned and the brand has laid of most of their staff. No new products are on the horizon, we think this could be the end. So get your Kobayashi inspired 388's & XV's now while you can gentlemen.. When the Chinese bought SYD they drove it into straight into the ground in less than a year. I'm bummed and hopefully Mr.K does not retire from the industry after this.
  14. Epon AF-203 Fairway wood data is in, official release date is March 12th. Epon played it safe by releasing the two most popular lofts 15* & 18* which is a good thing imo as the #7 never really sold well. Stay tuned for live pics shortly.
  15. Suda-san has the nack for custom grinds. I can't wait to dig into his custom irons. Although I'm for sure gonna splurge on the fully CNC CB as well. Someone has to try them and report back right?
  16. Check out Buchi's new blade, of course the TSG version will be minus the sheep and anything else you would like to remove or add. Custom Grind, Custom Finish, Copper Underlay, Raw Face on Plated Body, etc.. etc.. Sorry no other profile pics for now, will have more when we head up to his factory in March.
  17. That's not the same putter. There are many Damascus grand putters by odyssey already available. The one we posted pics of was a lone putter protected case kinda a center piece no insert.
  18. We have the demo's shot already, just got lots of posts to go through first. PRGR hasn't been at the show in years, TourStage this is the first year they didn't attend. Good move imo as the weather was WILD this year in Japan and because of that attendance was way down simply because people couldn't get there. The day of the show most train lines were down and taxi's were not working. We made it there by bus, foot, & a rare taxi.
  19. Suda-San told us they don' expect many sets to sell at that price, it's really just to showcase what's possible in terms of feel. Wait till you guys see the $120,000 golf shaft next week... S15C vs S20C vs S25C, again too many things involved in feel. An S25c iron can feel softer than an S15c iron and vice versa.
  20. Not associated with P-Tune, that's just custom stamping. Fuso Dream Buchi's parent company owned Solid Contacts previously. Sheep means nothing, it was the first thing we requested removed for TSG models.
  21. Assembled only I believe, the custom grinds by Suda-San (wedges & irons) while more expensive than most are not super pricey like the fully CNC'd iron which will indeed cost 600 per assembled iron. Why? It's CNC'd 100% of S25C not pressed, even the hosel and all one piece. Drivers, FW, UT, etc.. All priced similar to other JDM clubs.
  22. Should be a lot faster next week.
  23. The custom stuff we are working on is not near 600 per head. Only the fully CNC'd clubs are. btw no one is doing this with clubs today.
  24. Few have ordered Buchi, The lead time scares some people away. (16 weeks) We just met with him a couple days ago and there is nothing he can do to shorten it as he is in very high demand in Japan. Guys his gear is special, especially in the feel, performance and grind department. Those who have his clubs understand this. The two models you posted we posted a full year ago. Those don't have to look that way when you order from TSG. Everything can be changed about it from the stamping, to logo, finish, grind etc.. etc.. it gets nutz... We are meeting up with him at his factory in Himeji in March and will do a full feature on him. If you want a set be prepared to wait and have some ideas in mind before you contact T. I think a few guys here can comment on Buchi clubs. Some of the best grinds available today. I've seen guys take the same head made of the same material and create stinkers. Buchi is a special man.
  25. It has not been announced yet guys. T and I are headed to their new office this week to discuss.
