Odyssey Damascus Grand Putter Only 350pcs
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Anyway being this is now a topic on Damscus I'll post my beauty. Authentic Damscus blade with original Ivory handle from the Mughal Empire era 17th century. Purchased last year from an auction in Udaipur India. 8 years ago I also had a the 24th generation of the family Masamune, Tsunahiro Yamamura in Kamakura build me a Katana which I will pass to my child when I have one..lol took 16 months to make it's locked away in a safety depsoit box and I haven't seen it in at least 5 years. Will post pics it the next time it's pulled. -
Congrats man, were happy your happy. These are the most precise MB I've seen performance wise and I personally like softer shafts on blades for feel and ease of use. I truly wish I had your ball striking skills then these would be in my bag as well.

Yes traditional wootz (original Damascus) supposedly made the best sword right? Tamahagane was superior in method but not mix I believe. -
Odyssey Damascus Grand Putter Only 350pcs

I think we are saying the same thing. It's not real Damascus just like anything not made in the Champagne region isn't Champagne. btw I absolutely love France! I'm jealous by all measures and so is my wife! -
TRPX Driver : comparing numbers
TourSpecGolfer replied to Shankopotamus's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Your trajectory is pretty low, Imagine that spin rate with something around 11-12*. How does the shaft feel throughout the swing for you? Is it loading and un loading nicely or do you not notice much? gear wise there are a few ways to go about this, changing to a higher loft or the S-013 head, re shafting it, or one could add heavier crazy weights hoping that makes the shaft play kickier. Also LM can be deceiving because many swing differently on the LM than on the course. It's your on course swing that matters most not sure if that's what your doing. Obviously tee'ing it up more and catching it on the ups but I'm not sure if thats your natural tendency. -
I love the XV, It's unique and special. It's the 388 fairway wood imo shouldn't have been stuffed into the XV line up. but... S-Yard isn't looking so healthy right now as a company. Mr. Kobayashi has resigned and the brand has laid of most of their staff. No new products are on the horizon, we think this could be the end. So get your Kobayashi inspired 388's & XV's now while you can gentlemen.. When the Chinese bought SYD they drove it into straight into the ground in less than a year. I'm bummed and hopefully Mr.K does not retire from the industry after this.

Epon AF-203 Fairway wood data is in, official release date is March 12th. Epon played it safe by releasing the two most popular lofts 15* & 18* which is a good thing imo as the #7 never really sold well. Stay tuned for live pics shortly.

Suda-san has the nack for custom grinds. I can't wait to dig into his custom irons. Although I'm for sure gonna splurge on the fully CNC CB as well. Someone has to try them and report back right?

Check out Buchi's new blade, of course the TSG version will be minus the sheep and anything else you would like to remove or add. Custom Grind, Custom Finish, Copper Underlay, Raw Face on Plated Body, etc.. etc.. Sorry no other profile pics for now, will have more when we head up to his factory in March.

That's not the same putter. There are many Damascus grand putters by odyssey already available. The one we posted pics of was a lone putter protected case kinda a center piece no insert. -
Day 1 From The Japan Golf Fair 2014
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
We have the demo's shot already, just got lots of posts to go through first. PRGR hasn't been at the show in years, TourStage this is the first year they didn't attend. Good move imo as the weather was WILD this year in Japan and because of that attendance was way down simply because people couldn't get there. The day of the show most train lines were down and taxi's were not working. We made it there by bus, foot, & a rare taxi. -
Suda-San told us they don' expect many sets to sell at that price, it's really just to showcase what's possible in terms of feel. Wait till you guys see the $120,000 golf shaft next week... S15C vs S20C vs S25C, again too many things involved in feel. An S25c iron can feel softer than an S15c iron and vice versa.
-
Not associated with P-Tune, that's just custom stamping. Fuso Dream Buchi's parent company owned Solid Contacts previously. Sheep means nothing, it was the first thing we requested removed for TSG models.
-
Assembled only I believe, the custom grinds by Suda-San (wedges & irons) while more expensive than most are not super pricey like the fully CNC'd iron which will indeed cost 600 per assembled iron. Why? It's CNC'd 100% of S25C not pressed, even the hosel and all one piece. Drivers, FW, UT, etc.. All priced similar to other JDM clubs.
-
Should be a lot faster next week.
-
The custom stuff we are working on is not near 600 per head. Only the fully CNC'd clubs are. btw no one is doing this with clubs today.

Few have ordered Buchi, The lead time scares some people away. (16 weeks) We just met with him a couple days ago and there is nothing he can do to shorten it as he is in very high demand in Japan. Guys his gear is special, especially in the feel, performance and grind department. Those who have his clubs understand this. The two models you posted we posted a full year ago. Those don't have to look that way when you order from TSG. Everything can be changed about it from the stamping, to logo, finish, grind etc.. etc.. it gets nutz... We are meeting up with him at his factory in Himeji in March and will do a full feature on him. If you want a set be prepared to wait and have some ideas in mind before you contact T. I think a few guys here can comment on Buchi clubs. Some of the best grinds available today. I've seen guys take the same head made of the same material and create stinkers. Buchi is a special man.

New Cool Mizuno Gear from the JDM Show
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
More Pics of Mizuno Gear, The new JPX Forged III -
Mizuno is pretty bad ass, we all know that they appeal not only to the masses but also the hardcore by offering stuff like Yoro Craft. Even the new Mizuno MP Craft 513 & MP Craft H4 Drivers from Mizuno (JDM Only) they have Yoro Craft features like the rest of the MP Line. Btw guys both drivers are made in Japan which is not too common now days. However Mizuno does a poor job in educating golfers the differences between the 4-6 craft models . So let's talk about that. The very first Craft driver which is still awesome and still available was the Craft 460 then came 425. I love them both but the 425 felt the best imo it's a club that still stacks up against the best and feels awesome. The MP Craft 611 is it's newer cousin and geared to the better player who has a downward blow on the ball, it's also 410cc's. Next released was the MP Craft H4 at 440cc's all the craft drivers have the same forged cup face they all feel equally great at impact yet different. The H4 is designed for the golfer who has the up blow at impact it's considered the most forgiving of the bunch even though it's the same size as the newest Craft 513 which is sorta in between the bunch 440cc's and for someone who comes in level to the ball. The main feature I like about the Craft 513 is that it was designed to feel very similar to the 425...good! All the Craft drivers are pretty much made of the same materials: Face / α-β type titanium alloy (SP700) forging crown / β type titanium alloy (Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al) forging the sole member / titanium alloy (KS-100) forging neck / pure titanium forging inner weight / pure titanium forging It get's a little more confusing guys, the 513 & H4 have P-Spec Power Versions where they move the weight way forward to lower the trajectory and spin. This is for players who have a faster swing and head speed who desire a mid trajectory. These P-Spec drivers are designated by the P next to the loft. Best part is you have all the Yoro craft wood options on the MP line, so yes you can order with a more upright or flat lie angle, head weight & specs or aftermarket shafts. 513 H4

It's not in their official line up but we are working out a custom grind MB & Wedge series with them to offer exclusively to TSG. But yes they do make them by hand set by set for tour pros at the moment. Anyway T will make an article about this. Let's keep this on Epon :)

So we were a bit perplexed about the new Yonex blade a little while ago in regards to the titanium in the sole and the hosel design. A bit more info after speaking to them. It's made in Japan, the hosel design reduces the hosel weight by roughly 3 grams. deep within the head it's actually a lighter Titanium blend material to create a cavity effect that makes the club more forgiving. overall with the design they have a very forgiving MB with a lower CG than most blades. It's in-between a compact blade & neo blade, just a great size for someone looking for a good forgiving blade. the light was bad at their booth but enjoy the pics anyway:

We knew Ryoma was working on a new utility wood that utilizes their DSI technology but having seen it for the first time I was pretty blown away, These pictures don't do it justice, it looks stunning in the real and as usual different as Ryoma always makes things. Later this week we are heading over to Ryoma HQ for a meeting and will provide many more details on what's coming. While at the Basilius Shaft booth we noticed these utilities tucked away in a bag and were happy to see it's the club many Ryoma fans have been waiting and asking for. Here's what we know so far.. It's Titanium and has DSI tech and the usual forgiving shape we can expect from Ryoma. As far as how heavy the DSI is in this head is unknown but we will know shortly. Enjoy the pics gents :)

The new VG3... What to think of it, I don't know. The design itself makes sound technological sense but the looks of the back cavity don't do it justice in my opinion. When talking to the design team it was evident they could have gone two routes, rounded or sharp in the back area, while I agree rounded was the way to go it could have been pulled off differently from a visual perspective. The new VG3 features a very deep undercut cavity in the long to mid irons, It's 2 piece head has a very thin face and deep within the cavity there is a tungsten weight. As far as irons go the VG3 has insane MOI and Titleist is boasting stability and a strong trajectory. Again the loft is strong 44* in the PW also the short irons loose the undercut and you will notice it's filled in. Looks aside though this is Titleist's most forgiving version of the VG3 and somehow through design they say it's the longest. Made by Endo so the feel, fit & finish are top notch and I must say looking down at the club head you forget about that back cavity. I have yet to hit it, samples are sitting in a box in Tario's office as I write this. Just trying to take it all in. Anyway gentlemen here are some in hand pictures from the show.

Only their irons are, the woods and custom grind wedges are fairly reasonable. Modart (R is silent) is $600... Per iron!!! We've got a demo iron on the way, the cage demo was booked solid. It supposedly feels stupidly awesome. I witnessed everyone saying this but haven't it felt it for myself.
