wedge rumblings ............
Ah yes the 2 of the same wedge that don't perform like each other, had that a couple of times. Are the builds the same? Also had it in fairway woods. Tabuchi-san may be able to come close to duplicating that ELK 61*visually as he starts with extra heavy heads to dictate the shape.

Mizuno Yoro Craft Goodness – February 2014
via www.golftoimpress.com by Tario (gocchin) It's been a hectic and very busy month so I was glad to take some time away from sitting in front of my monitor to snap a few custom Mizuno Yoro orders. We had about 5-6 Yoro orders come in and 3 of them made their way here for some photos. The first set featured the MP-69 with a Nickel Chrome Satin finish instead of the standard mirror finish. Customer wanted the grind of the MP-69 to be similar to the JPX 825 Forged iron which has some leading edge and trailing edge relief. He kept the stampings the same but changed some of the color. Customer also wanted 3 of the Japan only MP-R4 wedges with a 48* wedge acting as the PW. This time the customer opted for a beautiful Raw finish and custom stampings with own name. Grain flow forged was removed and tour 2010C etching was added to the neck. The MP-R4 is turning out to be a very popular wedge. An eye pleasing shape, easy to use, nice and sharp quad cut grooves with full face micro milling, it is also in huge demand since its available with all Yoro options. MP-69 7-9 iron (3 Irons) Nickel Chrome Satin finish Project X 6.0 Standard loft, lie and lengths JPX 825 forged grind on soles All stamps standard Mizuno and numbers in black Running bird in White MP-69 in Reflex Blue Golf Pride Tour Velvet 2 full length wraps + 2 half length wraps on bottom half MP-R4 wedges 48, 54, & 60 (3 Wedges) Raw finish Project X 6.0 48* wedge - 63* lie, 35.5" length 54* wedge - 63* lie, 35.25" length 60* wedge - 64* lie, 35.25" length Standard bounce and grind on 48* and 54*. Bounce increased on 60* from 8 to 10. Stamping R4-ANAME Remove Grain Flow Forged Own Name "DOUBLE A" Mizuno Logo in Black Runbird in White 'DOUBLE A' in reflex blue. Golf Pride Tour Velvet 2 full length wraps + 2 half length wraps on bottom half to remove taper from shaft. I also had another customer's MP-R4 3 wedge set from Yoro, all with custom grinds and finished in Black with red and white fill and shafted with DG Tour Issue shafts. This is the first time we have done the MP-R4 in black and it looks amazing! He ended up with a 49, 53 and 58 set of wedges. Here is a shot of the 59* with S grind.

wedge rumblings ............
I've seen brands claim the east coast grind vs west or Miura NA say that their grinds are better outside of Japan than Miura Giken I personally don't buy any of that. Within the same state conditions vary, i.e in Japan I've played mushy and very hard on courses a short distance from each other so most important to me having a wedge that works for my swing. I'm a 3 wedge guy usually PW/52/58 as I do find 60* to be less reliable and I also pull it out when I really shouldn't. I consider it a specialty club for those who require that type of shot more than others. I also rather have an extra UT in the bag so I really don't have the space for anything more.

Fourteen GeLong D 214 Driver
The Fourteen GeLong D 214 Driver. Tatsuro (xerobound) had a comparo session several weeks ago with this driver in its stock form, although not for him he did say it did hold it's own. Here are some pics from the Japan Golf Fair and a little bit more info. The GeLong D 214 is avialable custom length from TSG you can get it 45.75" - 47.75". I consider it a high MOI @4000 design. One of the reasons why this club is known for it's distance is likely due to the stock shaft which has a very long length and that does translate into more carry. It can be built to appeal to the better player though, I know a club tester who has an X flex Tour AD GT-7 with it at 45.5" @ 9* and gets a launch angle of 10* with a good 15 yards of roll. It's a good looking head while looking down at, seems a little closed at 10.5 although I didn't hold the 9* head which I would guess is square. At it's longest length it comes in at a whopping D7/D8 swing weight if you have the 60g version stock shaft on it. There is also a super light weight shaft and higher lofts for the slower swinger. I'm talking 11.5* 45g shaft with 6.0tq 6-4ti cup face with BF-11 Ti crown it's a 4 piece full Ti head that;s 450cc's in size.

New Miura MB-5005 Blades!
That's interesting you say that as the 5003 was my favorite Miura blade. I thought they were forgiving for an MB but then again that was when I was playing at least 3 rounds a week. With steel I couldn't handle them but then i went roddio I-10's they were buttery bliss. I too am interested in the new MB5003 blades, gonna match them up with graphite once again.

Muziik Bangvoo Premium
70 ton carbon sheets reinforced by original 50 ton Triax Woven composite and dual layers of low elastic carbon... I haven't seen that in a Fuji yet.
-
Muziik Bangvoo Premium
If you mean the MAVC80 we posted a blog last week that explains the tech in new Bangvoo. (click here) Most of the Muzzik shafts are on the extreme end of Fujikura's materials and tech. 80T full length is not found in any fuji. Not sure if they even do a 50T full length. Vectron tip is similar in theory to the MCI's and I'm not sure but I don't think thats been translated into wood shafts yet. I've hit the premium & 787, Tatsuro (xerobound) plays the 787 as well these are very stable shafts with good feel. I'm in line for an MAVC80 which has tickled my imagination based on material & specs.

New Miura MB-5005 Blades!
Miura MB-5005 Muscle Back Irons: it's a more forgiving blade that blends well with the CB-1007 Y-Grind design. Slightly larger than the 5003 with a cut away that removes 15g and redistributes it for more forgiveness. The official release date is 4/14. Demo's are on the way.

Fe, SM490A, SUS304? What are these and the differences?
What putter is Fe? Anyway I have to ask around as I'm not entirely sure. I only remember tourstage making Fe wedges. Don't recall any putters off the top of my head.

Kamui TP-07 460 Drivers Nitro & Foam Heads
Your a beast! I envy you power, I'm not sure what the swing speed the nitro is pressurized to. It's more of a one size fits all approach. Also yours is foam right? Not sure how that plays into things. It's really damn confusing with that brand and their variants. Ver. III is still unknown as the exact differences. Kamui works Ks200 Air was just released and is now available. Totally custom by the way. Email Tario if interested.

First look: Ryoma's new Titanium Utilities w/DSI Technology
It's the hosel depth that isn't as deep that takes some getting used to, some think that a shaft should play the same in different heads and that couldn't be further from the truth. Hosel depth is also one of the factors that improve distance with the Maxima, other than that it's the same as any other driver in terms of fitting. The stock shaft is actually pretty darn good for people who swing 100 and below with a normal tempo. I'm gonna tip mine and put it back in to see about that.

Kamui TP-07 460 Drivers Nitro & Foam Heads
Faster swing speeds may notice a more spongey feel at impact. It's about getting the pressure in the head to push the ball off the face stronger. Sorta like a spring effect. Imagine a spring behind the face, a stiffer spring would be better for the harder impact. One of the options for the new custom Kamui Air is exactly this. Different pressure of air injected into the head for different swing speeds.

Kamui TP-07 460 Drivers Nitro & Foam Heads
Just learned something interesting about nitro or air technology. It does have an effect on performance so I was wrong. It basically causes resistance behind the face when the ball makes impact more air in the head equals more firm of a face but it's also a double edged sword as too little air with to fast of a swing speed creates distance loss. Or too much air with too slow of a SS causes a loss. In the case of the Nitro around 95mph is the speed that creates the biggest benefit. The key to maximize this tech would be to customize the amount of pressure in the head based on the players swing speed.

First look: Ryoma's new Titanium Utilities w/DSI Technology
We did see a more compact fairway wood prototype in its initial design phase, it's still a ways off though and will fit the athlete player segment. We also saw data created by our "favorite factory" sourced from another OEM showing that all brands use the Maxima as the benchmark in distance. This was shocking, based on the latest swing robot testing, and a super trackman unit costing nearly 100k. Can't name names but there is only 1 other driver globally that matches it in distance and it's non conforming and not "our type" of design... It's gold lol. Hence the maxima special tune is coming out in March and will be the longest driver in golf bar none conforming or not just as the conforming maxima holds the title today as longest conforming driver in golf. Will post teaser pics of another new Ryoma product next week but I can say with no doubts that Ryoma is legit. What's interesting is their origins don't stem from the golf industry, purely engineers.

Fe, SM490A, SUS304? What are these and the differences?
Fe is carbon, ss304 is pretty much the same as ss303, sm490A (my fav for years). Is not so common in putters but just a dense soft metal that will rust unlike SS so a plating/coating is a good idea. Feel is subjective, design matters most but generally SS usually feels more firm and carbon more soft and sm490A more dense. As a fan of SM490A back since GDJ I've requested SEVENs makers to use this and feedback from customers with or without a face insert of any material has been astounding even with a no milling flat face.
