The optifit and clocking ferrules used by some of the OEM's are not exactly a good thing. The weight of those are a big concern and OEMs will say they are only 2-6 grams but we know the factory that produces many of them and even they admit many coming in closer to 8-10.

Pro Preference Model Golf Clubs ** PPM **
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
These clubs have nothing to do with Endo, they are not forged by Kyoei either. Forged in Himeji and ground by Mr. Shinagawa. -
It's Easy, this is what I do: 1. Tape up areas I don't want brushed. 2. Use my buffing wheel to put the initial brush marks over most areas. 3. Use ultra fine grit sandpaper to hit areas I cant hit will the wheel. 4. Use Steel wool to smooth things out so they look even. 5. Go over it with brasso to further get things looking smoother. Cheap clubs usually show raw metal far sooner than quality JDM brands do.

Pro Preference Model Golf Clubs ** PPM **
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes KB Tours is the standard shaft but we can have them sent to you with just about anything custom built. 100 sets of each finish will be produced. The sole grind is to get through the turf easier, not sure how much easier it actually is. We will have them in the proshop soon, if you guys are in a rush to get one simply drop me a PM. -
Mr. Kiyoshi Shinigawa from Himeji Japan is famous for grinding clubs for over 50 years making him the most experienced grinder found just about anywhere. He is also known as the Sensei of Mr. Miura himself and countless other crafters. Shinigawa San is still producing custom grinds for some of Japan's most famous winners and is working in collaboration with designer Niimi Kiyonari and a new company called Pro Preference Model Golf Clubs. Let's call it PPM for short..:) More info to come guys but TSG now has a few sets available. These are are ready to ship directly to you and a TRUE limited edition release of 100 pcs only. Here are some advance images of the first PPM release clubs.

I would agree that they do not make very good woods. The main point on their DAF driver is the aerodynamic attributes but lets be honest here, hitting dead center is most important. For the player wind drag isnt really a concern while forgiveness and distance would rank higher for just about anyone. Decreased drag is supposed to increase club head speed thus creating more distance but reviews on this club show little of the sort.

Just brought in some of the new MP Craft Fairways and Im curious to see how they perform. Im happy Mizuno has decided to use solid SS as IMO steel heads feel hotter and better. Both the 14.5 and 17.5 have square faces which is another big plus. Sorry i have not been posting many reviews lately, had some back issues that are now clearing up and im back. The MP Craft is aimed at the better player looking for a solid feel in a small-mid sized head. A titanium alloy cup for the face matched with a solid SUS43 body provide great feel and high ball speeds at impact. The special grooved sole reduces friction on contact with the ground making the MP Craft good from virtually any lie. The square face is perfect for the better player who wants to work the ball. The MP Craft is available with Mizuno's top of the line Quad 6 Shaft in SR or S flex and two models the F145 (14.5*) and F175 (17.5*).

Does anybody sweat swingweights?
TourSpecGolfer replied to NiftyNiblick's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
For many swing weight can also aid or hinder a persons fat or thin shots just as length can. A heavier swing weight on a club that is slightly long for a player may cause fat shots. A lighter swing weight on the other hand sometimes causes a player to hit them thin. There are so many variables before reaching this logic but its one that stands true. -
Hi Mojo, It is the same putter as the Golds Mallet but DWD ordered 25 pcs with their logo and text written on the bottom. If I got it I would change the finish + paint fill , add PZ milling and tungsten work.
-
The standard Iomic grip size is considered undersized when compared to standard US size grips.

Does anybody sweat swingweights?
TourSpecGolfer replied to NiftyNiblick's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Swing weight is still important, there are some situations where a particular length / CPM / and head weight dont allow specific swing weights but outside of that I think across the board we all still do really care about it. -
The design is supposed to provide for a medium ball flight on a more forgiving yet slightly over sized wedge. Usually very forgiving wedges have too low of a CG point so they inserted this cavity to lower it out.
-
They are different sized irons yet the camera angle shows them to be about the same. The CB-2006 is the bigger iron for sure.

I really do like both and for different reasons. The KB Tours were more accurate imo, yet it appeared to have a little less carry. The 1150's feel better for me that means softer with more kick. It is a higher launching shaft and it makes sense why it would have more carry. NS999 is also a pretty decent shaft, To me it's close to a combo of the two with a good feel but slightly lower trajectory and more accurate than the 1150.

Best Value Wedge IMO. Made in Japan at the same place some 299.00 wedges come from.

The All New 2009 Epon AF-Tour Blade w/ PiCS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Im sorry but I was mistaken. Epon is only willing to sell 5-PW with optional 3 & 4 irons. I was mistaken because this is a first as with all other models they have been able to offer in any amount of clubs. In regards to the question about the finish from Jackson, That is the same bead blast over chrome or satin that 99% of all plated clubs use. There is nothing special about it but I think by the direct sunlight in the images I took they appear to be something out of the ordinary. The question Jackson asked about the flat faces is technically true the faces are not as flat but the same could be said about grooves making the face less flat or a putters or irons milling making a face less flat. It is so microscopic that no golfer should be concerned with it. -
The All New 2009 Epon AF-Tour Blade w/ PiCS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Here are some real images of the new Epon AF Tour Iron. Custom finishes are not available at this moment, Epon is such a detailed oriented company they actually produce heavier heads for each custom finish. Chrome usually weighs 7-10 grams while Black or Copper weighs less. So TSG put a light brushing on the stock chrome finish to produce a Satin Look Alike. Standard Chrome Finish: Brushed Satin look alike: -
I have 1 brand new and 1 in mint condition so please PM me.

The New AF-Tour Iron from Epon is Super Precision Forged of Soft Iron Bar 1020 Steel. After several years of research the Endo factory decided on the Uber soft hardness rating of HRB80 for performance and feel. The Finish is a Nickel Chrome Plating and the design is geared toward the professional player yet contains forgiveness for the low mid handicap player. By changing the thickness or volume on the upper and lower areas the center of gravity is located at the 100% apt point. This is what makes this muscle black the most well balanced blade every released in the history of golf club design. The width and depth of the groove on its back face is designed to support weight balance unlike any blade on the market. This is a vast improvement over other brand's cut away or muscle groove technology. Lofts are as follows: #3 = 22 #4 = 25 #5 = 28 #6 = 32 #7 =36 #8 = 40 #9 = 44 #PW = 48 We Just Recieved our test set's and will be taking in hand images shortly.

This set has a #5 iron length of 38" and is shafted with the NS1150 Stiff Shaft. Swing weights are 3-9 D2 PW D3. It was already sold.

Master Sasaya of Golds Factory recently canceled production of his soft forged muscle back iron. TSG was able to aquire one of the last sets produced and figured we would snap some pics and share them with the group. If anyone is interested in this last set just drop us a message via PM.
