The question is, do you consider the GS-MB a muscle back or cavity back? If you consider the GSMB a blade and a viable option, they actually feel the best and are more forgiving than the others in this post. Miura MB5003 has got to be one of best blades ever produced, FYI we can get them in flat black or dark chrome finish custom. October release of Epon's new Muscle Back

a MUST GET for any decent ball striker!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I agree, many people seem to think swing weight has more to do with the overall weight than the balance of the club. In regards to KB tours, I am not a big fan, Black Gold, S300, NS1150, NS999 all seemed more consistent for me, I guess I must give them another run. -
The AF901 by Epon has been in the bag since before it's release, never has any club sat so firmly without a contender and still nothing comes close. I am using all 3 lofts along with my 3 wood and I am by no means a long ball hitter but I do consider myself a decent ball striker. My distances with the 19* NGS stiff graphite shaft are 220-230 depending on roll which is not bad as it acts in between my 3 and what would normally be a 5 wood. The 22* with R flex graphite gives me a nice high but most importantly easy to reproduce 205ish yard stop and drop. The most used the 25* also in R flex plays the roll of my 3 & 4 iron, ya see these clubs very accurate, deadly long but their best attribute is that you can take yards off or add them by choking up and swinging smoothly. Great around lengthy greens using a basic putting stroke too It's the AF701 on steroids and those of you who own the 701's understand its freaky long, sometimes too long. We have had some Nationwide players who deem swing speeds just over 110 hit both the R and Stiff NGS graphite shafts a mile and dead straight with perfect high trajectories. I have tried this with a steel shaft and do not think it is nearly as good when compared to the stock graphite offered. In fact I like the stock shaft over UT-85's and the Ozik Hybrid we tested. In short, It's just a damn good club that I can wholeheartedly suggest to anyone looking for more accuracy and distance. Try it!

George Spirits GS-MB Irons w/Pics!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
A member requested PW pics posted so here ya go! -
I have about 3 rounds under my belt with this club and in short it's solid and long. The feel as gochi mentioned is somewhat of a click but semi crunchy and overall solid. Of just about every black ion driver on the market my golf partners, myself and others see a slight increase in distance. I would have to say about 5-10 yds The ball flight is high, very high at 9.5 it flies higher than any other 9.5 but even higher than most 12's! I must also say it is not as forgiving as one would expect. When hitting heel and toe shots it felt dead and lost more distance on others

What is the finish on this beautiful epon iron?
TourSpecGolfer replied to jjunonet's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its a gloss black that will wear in about 5-10 shots, dont suggest it as far as durability goes. It is done aftermarket not a Epon custom finish. I suggest one of the custom iron finish options that epon offers like the flat black, vintage black copper, gold, brushed satin or full chrome, its an up charge but worth it if you want something factory quality and very unique and sexy. -
Impact tape is a good idea and tinker with the weighting, sometimes heavier isn't better. How long is the putter? What are your misses? What do you really think is going on? Main thing is to play with a putter that helps your game, we can also get Master Sasaya's input on this matter for you.

I-6 is pretty light sir. in regards to your question against american OEM shafts there are too many variables like head weight, If any tipping was done, length, what graphite US OEM shaft you are trying to compare it to etc.. expect a pretty high ball flight with the I-6.

The New MacTeC Japan NV-NXS w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Imo i dont really think the quad kick point tech in their shafts is valid or a big aid. I really think its the head design that does most of the work, I mean it does have an MOI of 4600 + making it pretty darn stable. -
So far so good Geotech Special Grind wedge
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
People are paying 299+ for wedges made of the same material and produced at the same factory as these geotech's. There has not been a better bang for the buck Japan forged wedge ever. -
Limited Edition Mizuno MP-600 Black w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yup you called it the MD1 standard shaft is a true Gem, It feels soft yet handled some pretty high swing speeds without getting all wayward. I personally think it feels more fluid and smooth than the blue board. -
Gotta love the white chrome finish. I can't wait till Gold's Factory USA finally launches in the States!

One of the best shaped CB irons produced this year. The feel is decent, not soft not hard nor solid just firm forged if that makes sense. If you like the R7 Forged you should like the way these look much more. Its an actual improvement over the old model. The feel is identical to the R7 Forged. You are going to like your Miura 5003's much better IMO.

New Srixon Drivers, Irons and Utility
TourSpecGolfer replied to gocchin's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I love how srixon makes solid run's of new products featuring some pretty bold design and technologies. The upward swirl of the mill marks on the irons improve feel imo, not sure if they do what they advertise but it looks good and causes no harm. Gotta try that UT iron, after the AF901 I am a full on driving iron kinda guy. The Irons cavity design could use some work in the style dept. -
The Offical George Spirits Thread @ TSG!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Well guys if you want the GS-MB now is the time to act because in about 1 week no one will be able to purchase them any longer. 350 sets made, only one production run this year. We are down to our last 3 sets all shafted with NS1150 at D2, one set with X100's. The next run of product will be the GT putters, Bag's, and GS-Cavity Irons. All woods including a gold plated or Ion plated driver and same for the FW's will be released early 2009. I must say the GS-Wedge is a master piece, the feel of the 1020 Japanese forged steel and its very soft brushed black finish make this club ooze pleasure at impact. Spin is off the charts and USGA + R&A approved, it will need some range balls to dull them down a bit but back spin is not a prob for most while using these. These wedges are in serious contention and imo will bounce the 208's out the bag. I am playing mine at D5 with S400's and they are deadly accurate with nice drop and stop. From above its a butter knife thats extremely compact and thin, much more playeresque than others on the market today. If you got the gold put your faith in these wedges I can vouch for them that they should be some of the best you have ever hit. -
The Offical George Spirits Thread @ TSG!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The Putters are by some peoples standards revolutionary. The alignment aid helps you setup your face square to the ball vs the target line. The GS-01 and GS-02 lack the traditional site line yet the 01 has a frame behind the area you hit the ball. We have found no difference in feel with teflon black vs the black star chrome standard retail finish. The feel is very soft at impact with great roll coming off the face. I'm not sure if you guys can see it close up but it does have some very fine milling designs on the face. The wedges are top notch, very thin top line with a compact presence. I have had these in the bag for 3 rounds, they spin the ball a ton and require the grooves to be dulled a bit or else some may be getting to much zip to the ball. They feel at impact was one of the best tested. These grooves are USGA & R&A approved for play. We are almost sold out of our DG S400 D5 pro configured wedges. We have been testing the GS product line for a little over a week with some excellent players over at TPC & Bali Hai. To be fair we had them hit a variety of irons for some grueling range sessions and 3 full rounds of golf. Among the irons tested : - George Spirits MB - Miura MB5003 - Epon AF301 - Miura CB247 - TM TP Forged Our testers currently use JDM gear one player using mostly PRGR & the other Miura Irons. Of all tested their favorite in feel was the GS MB, both testers adored the very soft impact of the GS Irons and attributed that to the meat on the lower back face. The players noticed the sharp toe and I mentioned this is something pretty unique to most of George Takei's iron designs. Based on the top line view the Miura MB5003 was their visual top pick with the thinnest top line and most compact head heel to toe. The GS MB does have a thicker top line when compared to a butter knife but I would still consider it a neo blade design made to be more forgiving yet have the soft feel and presence of a top players blade. The heel to toe measurement of the GS MB was very close to the Miura's making it a top compact option on the market. They both felt the GS MB was noticeably softer than the 5003. The GS brand is very exclusive and expensive making it a choice for few and not many, but it does fill a nice gap here at TSG as our customers require the very best of quality and design from Japan and these fit the bill. If you guys have any specific questions about the product line feel free to let us know.
