Today's Golfer Magazine dogs the EPON AF-301
TourSpecGolfer replied to rexwrx's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Let's have it guy's. We have members here who have hit R7TP, Epon, Vega, Titleist, and others what you say? Thing that makes me not agree with this test is that I have TMTP irons, Vega, Titleist, and Epon irons here with me and the Epon and Kyoei are noticeably softer than the TM TP and others they rank so high. They are ranking 1035 & Cast irons as better feeling than 1020 & 1025 Forged irons. -
Then the AF or Technity wedge is for you not the 208. Its not a matter of simply creating the same wedge with less bounce on it, the design, CG placement and performance must be considered as well. When asked to Epon they say the same thing, if you need lower bounce select a different wedge. The 208 was designed for normal to soft turf conditions or harder turff with sand below the grass.

GeoTech GT Utility Wood w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
where do you see that sir? -
Thing is people are busy looking at bounce instead of testing the grind on a variety of turf conditions. If you add the grind, camber and design into the mix of the 208 you will find it works well almost anywhere dispite bounce. If you are looking for a lower bounce wedge only then we carry a bunch of other brands for you to look at.

We don't know S20 or S25 but chances are you will not notice because the feel for the most part is provided by design. The pic in the pro shop is correct sir:

miura cb 202 vs onoff cb 247 irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to nickmrkonja's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its the same difference between other Miura clubs and the 202, simply different designs from start to finish. It could even be an adjusted tooling from the Nike split cavities we used to see on the tour. -
I was not a fan of the stamping but the shape looks pretty good, also the hosel/ferrule design sorta bugs me too. I personally would opt for a Japanese built driver if I were to spend that much money. For some reason Fourteen woods just do not get much play on the JPGA tour.
-
What type of difference? Of course you will by selecting a particular tungsten weight setup, also the material of the head i.e SUS303 vs FE or Forged. If you want to fill a big difference go with some of the inserts or face milling options you can have done, it plays a big deal on feel and many times roll. If you need a visual aid but love answers then a blinker option is a great choice for you. Sasaya's custom options, stamping, finishing etc.. is what makes it perform different.

Geotech's versatile GT Utility wood is made for all players looking for a do it all club from any lie. A SUS630 body coupled with a special GF180 steel face provide feel and high ball speeds with an easy launch. The GT Utility features Geotech's GAC weight control and comes with two weights installed to adjust for draw or fade (10g and 2g). A utilities feature a square face angle for workability and range from 110cc-120cc in size.

Geotech's GT Fairway wood is a SUS630 steel FW made for all player types. The GT FW is more on the compact side and sits square to open allowing for the better player to work the ball. The FW's also feature Geotech's Gravity Angle Control allowing you to adjust for fade or draw with the two weights included (5g and 2g). A nice traditional shape at address, this FW provides a strong trajectory and nice feel.

They have tons of different shafts but what is pretty amazing and people did not know about is they have true and fully custom built clubs. How are these options: - pick design of iron including offset, CG, shape, stamping etc.. - pick design of driver including CG, shape, weight of head, face angle, face depth etc.. - pick custom iron graphic, weight, kick point, technology etc... The clubs can be any color you want, so can the shaft. Those don't sum up all the options as there are a ton more offered, we have only sold one of these sets and it was to a prince. the retail price varies but its 25k - 120k Custom iron shafts alone from Honma run 20k+ pretty wild stuff isn't it. But yea Honma isn't your old man brand anymore, they got the new TW903's the Athport clubs and others that are for the top amateur or even pro.

My shootout of JDM irons: OnOFF + forged vs. Fourteen
TourSpecGolfer replied to Randy's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
247 is not the same as 202 when it comes to design but feel is just about the same. Material is 100% the same, nothing different. W.D.D accurate forged is a fancy selling point they use in Japan and not in the states. -
I like the stock shaft best myself Reg & Stiff flex work perfect for me. These UT's are pretty unreal, they have a high C.O.R face like the AF701, I hit my 19* about 200-220 with a nice mid high and piercing trajectory. No Hooks and Slices. I am interested in trying a steel shaft in one. I am thinking NS750 or NS850 shafts.

What plays similiar to the old Tour AD M75?
TourSpecGolfer replied to LSeca's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
9003 sir! -
I used to like Golf Gear best. Now Golf Classic and Golf Today are my favorite. You will get the news on TSG before it is released in the Mag's though.

My shootout of JDM irons: OnOFF + forged vs. Fourteen
TourSpecGolfer replied to Randy's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Thank you for doing this Randy. Keep in mind guys that different swings work differently for different designs of clubs, also ideal method is to have them set to the exact same L/L/L grip size, swing weight, and shaft. All of the list and the clubs mentioned in the test are made in Japan true JDM clubs except the ONOFF forged plus which is built by Nelson. Look forward to your update Randy. -

GeoTech KA-1 Forged Raw Face Wedge w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Mostly better feel, the raw face will wear and gather a little rust, but I actually love that it's only the face. Spin is as good as other wedges as they are CNC milled grooves. After time with more rust on the face it seems to pick up a little more spin. -
George Spirits GS-MB Irons w/Pics!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
ION plated actually gives a slightly harder feel to a wood. Some people say because it makes the face area harder that distance is increased but after testing the performance enhancement is so slight can't be measured. -
GeoTech Special Grind Japan Forged Wedge w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I highly suggest these wedges if you are on a budget, Hand ground and forged in Japan. If I told you guy's where it would cause a stink for some other custom wedge brands. -

Tourstage copy of G10 I don't think so, Japanese obsess over quality and that driver looks nothing like a G10.
