Is anyone playing this club? The face looks deeper and shorter heel-toe, which is perfect for my taste. Anyone?
  2. If Tourstage came out with a combo set of PW, 9: MR23 US Blade 8,7: MR23 US Spec CB 6,5: TS 201 4,3: TS 202 and all irons nicely shaped and flow´d... I´d be all over them. The MR23 (both blades and CBs) are the nicest irons our there, and the best feeling ones as well. The only downside is the forgiveness of the longer irons. They are simply sooooo tiny.... no room for error. I´m making an experiment right now, playing the MR cbs from PW to 5 iron, and then adding a 4 and a 2 Hogan Hybrid. I don´t think that I need three hybrids, but the two could work well for all possible distances. I´ll also leave the 3 iron in the bag for tight Tshots.... Sorry, off-topic, but basically slightly larger MR CBs would be KILLLER!!!
  3. Thanks for the pics and for the suggesstions. So a combo set with 27 - 32 - 33 (or 37) would look a bit strange because of the different finish (stock) of the MP32? How about MP32 - MP27 with a satin finish on all clubs? Do you think that the transition would look ok then? How much would a combo like that cost and how long would it take? Can anybody tell me where I can find a adress pic or face view of the MP32 PW? Thanks Ziggy
  4. I think there was a post wit some pics of a custom Mizuno combo...but I can´t find it. Any idea? Can anyone post some pics of the MP32? How is the size of the PW and 9 iron compared to the other MPs (33, 37, 30)? Mizuno seems to make some large short irons compared to the mid and long irons... but coming from MR23s, everything looks large... :smile1:
  5. That´s very true.... What would you think about the MP32 compared to MP30 in your combo? And how would you categorize the MP32 compared to the MP33? Thanks for your help, Ziggy
  6. I was one of the very first Scratch customers I believe, and the wedges were indeed nice. They are softer than anything you can imagine (in golf clubs.... :smile1: ) which has also one negative effect: durability. My wedges looked very bad after a short while. But the brand is certainly the ultimate option, if nothing else seems to work.
  7. I played the MR 23 blades before and find them not so much less forgiving than the MR23 US CB... Both are the finest irons that I ever had. I´d be happy to play either ones in the short irons, as long as I can find some easier to hit longer irons. My game is the complete opposite of yours: I hit my drives and my woods like a 1-capper, putt like a 1-capper and hit my irons like a 18-capper :surprize: E.g. My drives average around (honest) 270 to 280 with some occasional 300+ bombs, my SS07 carries easily 230 off the deck, but I need a 7 iron most of the times for 150 meters (160 yards) :wah: My hcp index has been between 5.5 and 6.5 for the last two years, and I think that once I can improve my iron game, I can get down to a 3 or 4 quite fast.
  8. After playing countless sets of irons over the last couple of years and going back and forth between CBs and blades, I´m looking to make my own combo set. Is there any company/brand around, where I could get a transition like (PW to 3 iron) MR23 US Blade -> MR23 US CB -> Z201 -> Z202 Or MP37 -> MP32 -> MP27 Or is there even a Japanese set of irons that have: - minimal to moderate offset - low center of gravity (that´s more important to me than a large size cavity or a large size face) - wider sole with some bounce and camber (a la MR23) Chris, please help! Thanks
  9. Yup! I´ll keep playing the MR for a few rounds more and will then tell you what I found out compared to all my other sets that I had over the last couple of months (RAC CB, MRUSblade, Z101, S59)
  10. Taper tip. Guaranteed. Just reshafted mine with Nippon Pro 1050 Best feeling combo you can imagine. Not the most forgiving one, but certainly the most exciting one.

Check out my 60 and 54 on the scratch website and in the gallery here. they are satin chrome with "ZPROTO" stampings. Grind is pretty much what you are looking for. Played for 4 months, some wear but grooves still deep and sharp. Club(s) would be shipped from Europe. 100% positive ebay feedback. Make me an offer if you like the shape on the pics for one or both wedges. Ziggy

Here´s my list of irons. The start is pretty "normal", but suddenly, it get´s crazy: TM Firesole: used set to start TM Supersteel: new set to be my first new set Mizuno ProII: you gotta play forged Mizuno MP33: Blades! Titleist 681: even cooler Blades! (by now, my HCP is about 9) TM 300 forged: wanted to get down to 5, and looked for CB TS Xblades: CB did not help my HCP, so I wanted blades again TS Z101: too many bad shots with blades, and wanted CBs again Miura CB 1005: maybe the Z101 are too small... TS MR23 US Blades: nothing´s better than blades (I´m down to 6 now) RAC CB: Those MR23 are soo hard to hit consistent, better get back to CB ... I don´t know what´s next, most likely blades again.. :surprize:

That´s the funniest post I´ve seen in a while. :smile2: :smile2: Sometimes I also think that these 14 SOBs live their own lives....

I know what you are talking about. Depending on what loft you need, I might be able to help you out "reasonably" cheap with a stock 510 TP 10.5 Stiff. Just PM me for details.

Any more pics of the face, offset, sole and bounce? They look UNBELIEVEABLBE..... How much $$
  16. I own two Scratch wedges with a satin chrome finish, and here are my thoughts after playing them for 4 months: Looks and feel They came 100% as I expected them. If you tell Ari what you want, he´ll make it. Just be honest and don´t be afraid to use factory wedges to compare (like I did: Nike shape, 60M grind....). These are without any doubt the softest feeling wedges that I every tried. But here comes the downside... Durability These things are so soft, that the grooves are already worn out. Ok, I admit that I like to practice my shortgame (that´s where my score comes from..), but they look like 2 years old clubs now. It also looks like the chrome finish comes off and the face almost looks a bit "goldish/yellowish". Resale value Another downside.... But the resale value of any worn out wedges is close to zero anyway, so I don´t really mind that. Performance They do everything you expect them to do. Spin and distance control is amazingly consistent. And if you specified the right grind for your swing and conditions, you won´t find a reason to complain. Verdict: I guess "soft" and "durable" don´t work well together. I´d order and buy new Scratch wedges at anytime again, but I´d be careful with a full set of clubs. Maybe if they improve their finish (chroming), I´d go for them... To me, if they could offer a forged stainless unplated material, slightly harder and more durable with all the custom grind options, I´d go for that any minute. (I´m not complaining here, it´s just my honest experience.)

How, when and for how much can I get a 380 Ignite??
  18. The Maru Spec would be an interesting option, but I have found out that I need loft more than many others. Although my swingspeed is "ok" for my hcp index (108 to 110 mph, currently 6.5), I am getting much better results from more loft. I might loose a bit of ball speed, but I prefer to play my second shot from the fairway..... Plus many times, our fairways are either wet or not tightly cut, so carry is what I need. I was thinking about the XDrive 390, but the prospec model is also only 9 degs.... We´ll see.
  19. Just sold it. :( Even though I had to accept selling at a loss, I could not stand the sound. The more I got used to the head and shaft (the better I hit it), the louder it got. My R500 tour 10.5 with the Fuji Six is still the benchmark for all other "candidates". I wanted to like the 983E, but not with that "BOING". I will definitely get a second driver, but I´m not sure which ones. Current favourite candidates: 510 tour mid face 10.5 or 9.5 510 tour deep face (not TP, which I did not like when I tried it) 10.5 or 9.5 XDrive 390 ...??? Who knows.
  20. Yes, I did it! Although the 761 is supposed to be a driver shaft. F/ST 15, 761TB stiff, tipped 1 inch, 45 inches, D3 Holy smokes! The feel, sound and looks are just incredible. The club sets up a bit closed compared to my SS07 14. Maybe half a degree, but nothing too bad. No hook machine at all. The 761 feels a bit stiffer than the 869 in my SSo07, maybe also because of the bore through insert in the Tourstage. The F/ST has a higher launch with a bit more spin, but the ball is not ballooning. I think the concept of a high kick shaft with a slightly higher lofted 3 wood works great. I can´t judge the overall distance too much, but I guess that the F/ST is only a little bit shorter than the SS07 - which is the longest 3 wood I tried so far by a large margin. The F/ST plays similar to a 980 F strong, it just feels a LOT more solid and definitely longer distance. I´m really surprised about the 761TB in this 3 wood. Originally wanted to use it in a driver, but the tip had some damage anyhow, so I was more or less forced to cut off the tip. Great decision.. I was looking for a slightly higher trajectory than my SS07 14. So far, the new combo looks like a winner. These two 3 woods are definitely the best ones I´ve ever tried - by a large margin. Sonartec wins the distance award and Tourstage the looks, feel and forgiveness awards - so far.
  21. That´s a good one! :D Thanks for your replies. I´ll do the coin test and try to get used to. It´s definitely NOT a performance issue at all..... I´ll keep you informed about my "T-Bang"
  22. Just got it last week and hit some range balls and played one round. I really love the shape, size, looks and feel of the E, and wanted to have a 660TR after reading so much positive stuff about it. It´s a 9.5 and set´s up 1.5 degrees open. Real loft is 10.6 degrees (Joe measured both angles). 45 inches and D4 swingweight (I wanted to have it heavy). Shaft is untipped and inserted 1.75 inches. Perfect work from Joe. To me, the 660 plays to a real X stiff. It feels a bit stiffer than the Six X in my other driver (500 tour), but I have no problems loading the shaft. It´s definitely a fairway finder, and the distance is a bit shorter than my 500 tour. Since the E is heavier and the shaft stiffer, I need to get used to it a bit more to get the full performance out of it, and I have the feeling that it will be as long as my 500tour once I´m used to it. The ballflight is a bit lower than my 10.5 TM, but not much. Nice boring trajectory with a lower launch than the R500. Now here comes the strange part: This head sounds almost like an old Ping driver. So unbelieveably loud, I can not believe it. I had two other 983E before, and both sounded nice, solid and slightly muted. This thing is a totally different beast. It´s not a high pitch "ping" from e.g. the first Cally big berthas, but more a lower "bang". Hard to describe, but if 14 people stop hitting balls on the range, you´ll agree that it´s on the loud side. Is there something wrong with the head? Is it possible that a different shaft sounds different? Performance is paramount of course, but I don´t know if I can get used to that sound.... Anyone has a similar experience?

Hi Joey, thanks for your comment. The driver is treating me quite well. Still need to adjust a bit to the heavier weight and stiffer shaft, but I know it´s gonna work. The 983E simply looks and feels soooo good, and the combo with the 660TR X is a monster. I found a 761TB pullout and since it won´t be long enough for a driver, I just had a local guy install it in a F/ST. Will take it out over the weekend and I´ll let you know how it works. I KNOW the 869 works unreal in a SS07, but I want to try something different. I figured a lower spinning shaft with a higher spinning head might come out just perfect... who knows.. Aloha ziggy

I baught a set and reshafted it with PX 6.0. Could bot be happier. Does not fit to your question, but I thought I´d jump in here.

Thanks FAQ. My ss is between 108 and 110 and I play a Six X and a 660TR X in my drivers. How would the F/ST 15 761 combo compare to SS07 14 869 combo? Anyone?
