  1. I think T mentioned the raw finish is due to a better feel and better "biting" surface. Ed, in our part of the world it will rust a lot but no issues with regards to durability if that is where you are coming from as it will still take a lot (and I mean a lot) of play before any of the grooves or milling to erode to the point where it will affect play. My raw wedges in the past lasted more than I would care for actually :-)
  2. No I don;t believe only Crazy shafts can work in Crazy heads. Crazy heads are after all Jbeam heads and most any shaft, if it suits your swing, can work in Jbeam heads and hence Crazy heads. That said, Crazy does make good shafts imo as you can tell from my sig.
  3. That milling is very interesting. Looking forward to reading the long term reviews from those who have bought this.
  4. omg! this will be an industrial shredder!
  5. GIven the internet and some common sense, you can pretty much find out info on anything. Also, the "Made-in-China" part of your comment may not be inaccurate :-)
  6. http://www.usga.org/...lub_results.asp Sorry to start another but because there has been soooo much speculation on this being a fake yada yada yada, I thought this deserved its own thread to dispel all doubts! Just type "Ryoma" under manufacturer.
  7. Looks nice albeit I think a tad chunky looking for me.
  8. Found this googling. Supposed to be a Spring launch. Can someone please translate.
  9. I have seen this head and can vouch that at that viewing, it's in great condition! I have also traded with Mark and can vouch that he is a good guy to deal with.
  10. Good to hear Mark. As you get used to your new stuff and start playing more again, I'm sure your game will get better.
  11. Not the latest but still one of the greatest for me. As with any head, the shaft needs to suit you and when it does.... Schwinggggggg :-)
  12. Thanks. I get a bit from some of the reviews here so hopefully my reviews contribute back some.
  13. Hi Craig, Good to know you have been keeping well and playing a lot at home and overseas! I am very critical of new equipment and wont talk it up just because its new. And this past Christmas I have dabbled a lot with drivers etc... several did not work out for me and was out the door quicker than it came in... Fujin or the 460HX Black... caveat is I have not been on the course with it but by all range indicators so far, I think it will turn out well. Also, teh drivers that have worked well for me, I always needed to get them back and they are very rarely the "latest and greatest" and must really have performance benefits and not just feel. Just me of course. Had a V-Spec, sold it, got back a D1 and like you, Okamoto really provides cover :-). 435... sold off my White Mamba and then got back 2 435s but both in 10* this time, Fujin... Had a HX Gold and Black, the feel of the face from the HX Gold and the direct compare review with the Kamui TP07 of the guy I sold my first 460HX Black to told me I really had to get it back to at least hit it! If you want to try something, and if your numbers are like my very mortal numbers, do try it! I know its not talked about very much here at all but I think it is capable of giving many a very pleasant surprise.
  14. Thanks Ian. I'm not into LMs as I have not found an LM on my shores yet that I can trust is not juiced up so I really can;t help with any number. On Lousifer's PRGR red eye, my swing speed range was 92 to 95mph. My avg driving distance is about 225 meters or about 240 to 245 yards. Longest drive on several occasions have been in the 255 to 260 meter range or 275 to 285 yard range but those will be exceptional drives. Fairways in my part of the world are definitely not as fast as say OZ or the links of Scotland. Sorry I can;t help much with numbers.

This is my 3rd Romaro 460 HX head. Yes, I still think it is one of the better kept secrets for driver heads. The first was a 460 HX Gold 9.5. Non-conforming head with a super hot face! Super hot! Launched higher than my 435 10* and Ryoma Okamoto 10.5*. As I am looking to play comps this year, and encouraged by the hot face and feel, I decided to get the conforming Black version. In then came a new 460HX Black in 10*. I swear, I think the sole design of the RomaRo 460HX Black is probably the nicest out there for me. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say "sophisticated"! Even before shafting it, I thought what am I gonna do with 3 drivers with Ryoma Okamoto still being the reliable safety driver for when I am swinging less than normal and containing my sprays.... on tight par 4s, and my Black Widow 435 is still the longest driver for me....I thus decided to pass it to a friend who was also finding his Kamui TP07 to be less than intended. I texted him a couple of days after he had a range session and a round and "long and forgiving" was how he described it. Seller's remorse set in and immediately I ordered another 10* 460HX Black. I first shafted it with my test shaft, the FEX 55. All my drivers have had this shaft at one point or other so it really gives me a good reference to compare heads keeping the shaft variable constant. I would say against the D1 and 435 are the following: 1. Launch angle is slightly higher than the 435 10* and similar to the D1 10.5* 2. Roll is less than 435 and maybe even the D1 but I can;t say yet as I've only been in the range with this. 3. Carry is where this head excels for me. Noticeably more. 4. Feel and sound. I would say this is closet to the AF101 for all my post AF101 drivers but even then not close. Face still feels hot, softer feel than the 435 and a lower track as opposed to the higher pitch ting of the 435. Something was still not quite right though... I then thought lets try the Roddio M6 in the 460HX. Shaft is on the way in but in the meantime I thought... I have a LY-01 Hot Black which for me flies lower than the TJ-46, gives more roll and feels more one piece. This could be a good combo for the 460HX so consummate they have... and you know what? What a friggin hot combo!!!! I had the Hot Black installed at 45.25, half inch shorter than what RomaRo recommends but have maintained the D1 swing weight. I think the silver grey tribal motif of the Crazy shaft contrasts yet complements the silver hexagonal tag and sleek sole design of the 460HX Black. The carry has increased without increasing launch angle or at least doesn;t look have done so. The flight seems strong and penetrating. THe firmer one piece feel of the Hot Black seems to have been absorbed by the softer hotter feeling face of the 460HX. Still can't determine roll yet as I have not taken her out to the course yet and the past week or so its been raining like mad and the cow grass range is really soggy...BUT the promise and potential to be a bomber by my less than 300 yard standards is there and I am excited. If she carries on like this, I know not what head to put the Roddio M6 in (well, maybe the other 435 I have :-) ) but that is a good problem. So I christian all my drivers something... My Ryoma D1 being my safety driver after the Japanese condom company Okamoto, my Black Widow 435 for when I feel more aggressive and so, for this RomaRo 460 HX Black with the Crazy LY-01 Hot Black shaft that seems to give me the best carry of all, I thought Fujin or the Japanese God of Wind, is apt. If you guys have not yet tried the RomaRo 460HX, give it a run. I now understand what Chris or T meant in the GTI blog when they said there is a new challenger. By the looks of things, Fujin could challenge my Black Widow for distance king and if Fujin does, that will be a very nice problem to have. I can;t wait to take Fujin out to the course!

Moved to Iomics about 8 months back and I play in very humid conditions. No issues.
  19. You;re talking about Taylor Made.... because they can and they know those that think the latest is always the greatest will suck it up :-)
  20. Still looking
  21. Thanks Chris. I think the Maxima or any driver for that matter will have a hard time achieving a similar (imo) quantum leap in design and effectiveness as the original D1 series which could make the Maxima a victim of Ryoma's own success. That said, just going by my ongoing positive experience with my D1, I will be very eager to try this at the least. What does it look like from address? Traditional like how the D1 masks the 60 gram port or similar to the to angular shape of the sole? Hopefully you can share the properties of the 3 models soon so we can start thinking about shaft options :-)
  22. Thanks for this T. I hope Ryoma will divulge details soon on the 3 different models, how they are different, any change to the 60 gram booster weight, how the Maxima is better than the original D1 series and hopefully they do an Iron Byron test for this as well and compare the results to the original D1 series.
  23. Any info on the differences amongst the Type V, G and D yet?
  24. LOL... Thank Chris! Stew looks like a kid high on candy! :-) So Stew, how was it? Which model type is this? V, G or D?
