  1. Just did a trade with a great member who kindly sent some suprises along with his part of the trade--Gauge Design sand and gap wedges marked 4th Anniversary MoCr CNC-F These are really well rusted and quite raw. Marked only with an "S" and an "A". Just wondered if anybody knew anything about them, like lofts, bounce, etc. The milling is exceptional. Any information really appreciated.
  2. Wise plan, get as much information as you can. It's almost funny how we club nuts will take a random comment from someone whose game may be very, very different from our own and make purchasing decisions based upon those comments. Heck, it'd be hard to go wrong with any of the clubs in the "test". Real problem is there are too many choices and not enough time to test before the next latest and greatest emerges. But, that's the fun isn't it?
  3. Well, you (and Chris) won't want to hear what I've got to say. Save yourself a bundle and get the NC's for spring, fall, and the ON season. They're as good as you are, I promise, and the "advantage" of the more blade like offering just isn't present. Workability, etc. of the Gauge's is every bit as good as the 60's and 32's, both of which I've owned. If you need to buy two sets (and I understand the psychological malfunctions that could cause that), find a set of the Gauge blades (last years'). Awesome blade experience. Good luck, happy shopping, and may the PayPal be with you.
  4. Claus, haven't had the NC's too long, but they seem very, very durable. Took them to the range and hit 25 balls with wedge and 7 iron and really can't tell they've been hit. Played two rounds with them in the bag with no headcovers and no bag chatter yet. Truth, I can't find too much about these that I don't like. Makes me want to try the FW woods and driver. I'd bought a set of the GAS wedges from bert-b and absolutely love those. I could be a total Gaugette very easily--strange, I don't have a putter yet :tsg_smiley_laughatyou:
  5. I've played both the NC-1's and the Mizuno 60's both with Nippon 1050X shafts and greatly prefer the Gauge offering. Feel: Mizuno has the classic "mushy" feeling Mizzie is known for. Great feel, but the Gauge has a more solid feeling to it--not harsh, but the kind of feeling that goes all the way up the arms instead of stopping in the hands as the Mizuno does. Off center hits not nearly as harsh with the NC's because they're more CB like than the 60. Performance: The meaty weight end of the NC seems to send the ball higher but with a very penetrating, boring flight. Very, very easy to work the ball, and the sole camber and width very helpful in stringy lies and in the rough. The Mizuno also performs very well, but doesn't seem as "helpful" to me. Looks: they're both great looking. Toe of the NC's looks a lot better on the ground behind the ball tan it does in the pictures on the site. Great looking club and provokes a lot of comment from people that see it in the bag. A lot of panache factor. Equal here depending on your own preferences. Hope this is helpful. When you get two great clubs that perform as well as these do, the "ratings" tend to get quite subjective depending on the idiosyncrasies of the individual player.
  6. Played with my NC-1's today. Set them up at 38 5/8" five iron, DGSL 300s with Decade Grips. Wow! Excellent combination of power and finesse. Feel as good as anything out there (very different but as satisfying as the GD muscle backs), spin the ball well, go through the turf very well (wouldn't know about rough because I'm never there :tsg_smiley_laughatyou: ). The ball flight is high but boring (probably due to the meaty, blade-like nature of the rear weighting). Chipping with these is a delight. I put these right up there with the very best of the sets sitting in my garage screaming for air time--the Lehmans, the Gauge muscle backs, the Miura 201's. As far as looks go, to me these are the best looking of all of the clubs--when I used them today I had people ask me what they were and comment favorably on their looks. To me that's cool, but the best part of the look is the confidence it inspires. The clubs look great in the bag, but they look great on the ground behind the ball. Don't know how the club test will come out, but it's hard to imagine anything being noticeably "better" than these.
  7. Just got back into town to find my new NC's from Chris waiting for me. Dang. I've owned them all, and this is the best looking head coming out of the box I've ever seen. Having them shafted right now and can't wait to review them. If it were just about looks, the game would be over. Hope they're as good hitting and good feeling as they are good looking. I've got the MB's right now, and what impresses me is that this is the first cavity back I've seen that's been able to tranfer the "meaty" weight of the MB's to a CB. Time will tell, but the first impression is a great one. Thanks, Chris

Hello, are you there? PM sent yesterday.
  9. Can't tell what's gone-- I'll take the Scratch if it's still around. PM with your PayPal.

I started a thread on the very subject at golfshack--some good thinking on why very good clubs go so cheaply on resale. To summarize: no one knows about them (no marketing); each set is custom built for the owner so if I'm going to spend big $$$ why not get them customized for myself. Worth reading the thread for yourself.
  11. Well, I thought I'd try the 2mm because I love the other Lehmans so much but they weren't for me. Great looking set up, but 30 years chasing no offset makes my eye go elsewhere. These are too nice to leave sitting around. These are the 300 forged model. This set is in very good shape (at least 8.5) except for the pw which was somebody's practice club and has browning on the face. Chrome still very shiny, and surprisingly little bag chatter. Grooves are still perfect, but there is sweet spot wear on the wedge only. These don't say 2mm on them, but they're definitely the offset version and they are definitely box toe Lehmans. Shafts relatively new, and they're the real expensive ones, and tour velvet grips are perfect. Believe it or not, I have pictures. I have one of the wedge which will show what I'm talking about. Let me have your email and I'll send them along. I'll take only $800 shipped and paypal fees included for these and that's firm and very fair. Don't need trades, I really don't. Email and [email protected]
  12. Got my Bobby Grace and Yes Natalie from Michael today. Incredible condition instantly shipped. He's the real deal. Thanks, Michael, pleasure to leave good feedback.
  13. PM'd yesterday. Please send pics of natalie and bobby grace. thanks
  14. I'm guessing you're talking about the Miuras. They're the Japanese version, "MG" "Straight Neck" in the cavity. I can send a pic of the identical club if you'll send me your email.
  15. X Tours Soild (Wouldn't this be easier if we could edit our posts?)
  16. New Lower Prices: Callaway X Tours $850 Scratch CB's $850 By the way, the Scratch CB's are the "digger" grind. I really appreciate all of the cool trade offers but I can't think of a thing I can use right now. I know that the PayPal account is often empty while the garage is full, so think about this: I'll consider letting you make two payments if that'll help. I'll ship for 1/2 and you can pay the other 1/2 if thirty days.
  17. I don't know how to choose the backup and having so many doesn't make sense, so I'll offer them all for sale and the last one left's my backup. Here goes: 1. Callaway X Tours--3-PW. Standard everything, played one round, look unhit, S-300's, Tour Velvets turned down. $875 2. Srixon 201--2-PW, Rifle 6.0, excellent condition (8.75-9.0), tour velvets, standard length and lie. $250 3. Scratch 2005 CB's--3-PW, only two clubs have been hit, 38 1/2" 5 iron, D4, red/black decade grips, DG SL 300's, 1* upright. Excellent Japanese forgings. $875. 4. Miura CB 1005--2-PW, Rifle 6.0 at 38 1/4" 5 iron, 9.0 condition, tour velvets, 1* upright, D4. $675. PLEASE NO TRADE OFFERS!! As you might be able to tell, more, other, different sets is not what I need. All prices include shipping within CONUS and paypal fees. My email and paypal are both [email protected]. As usual, I don't have pics so if you get 'em and don't think they're as represented, send em' back no questions asked. For most of these I can direct you to where you can see the same club as mine and in about the same condition, just not my pics. If I can sell all of these, maybe I'll buy a camera, but I doubt it.
  18. PM Sent taking 16* Rescue TP

  20. I've sent you PM with my email address as well. Naked Dave, back off!!! I fear that our good seller may be away from his computer on a tour of Irish pubs. If true, you're a wise man. If not, why not????? :surprize:
  21. Urgent PM sent. I've got a set made for Tiger that he gave me when we were hanging out in Tortola. Or was Barbados?
