May I suggest a Tourstage X-Drive 405HR w/ AXIV 6564M (SR flex) CPM at 240? All kidding aside it may be just what you're looking for. Let me know. Didier

I agree and I think they should just stick to the flex rating rather than the CPM. I swing at 105-110, smooth tempo, not too agressive (when swinging well I've been compared to Els! lol - gets real choppy when not swinging well...), 8 handicap, stocky build. Typical missed would be push fades with an occasional snap hook. Got the shaft on TSG.

For those debating what AXIV shaft to get, here's just some info from my installation. Got a 6564M (SR flex), tipped it an inch and installed it in my X-Drive 405. I believe it's a 2 inch bore. CPM is 240... So I think it best not to get too confused by their CPM ratings on the shaft and just go with your normal flex - i.e R, SR, S, X. If I like the shaft I'll definitely have to go with a 6568M. I haven't actually played the club yet but it does feel whippy on waggling. Hope this helps.
  4. Looks pretty cool. Starting to despise these intricate flash websites... Just give me the pics and the specs
  5. Did you mean the 6564M? Did your buddy tip his at all? I don't suppose you would know what the CPM would be in his Ignite. I have the 6564M (was going to go with the 6568M) and am about to install it in my X-Drive 405 so I'm curious about the installed specs. Thanks.
  6. I love the Tourstage F-ST+. Fitted with a GD Tour AD M75 it's just an awesome fairway wood with plenty of length and workability. Plays well from all lies. Even with the stock Tourstage TXD-65 shaft this wood performs very well.
  7. I'd go with stiff.
  8. Here is my follow up review on these shafts. Still haven't been playing much lately or been playing well for that matter but I now have a better feel for these shafts. As stated in my initial post, these are solid shafts which play more accurate than the 950s or 1050s. Any complaints about NS PROs being soft to flex and hitting too high are dispelled with the 1150s. Good dispersion (wish I could be more assertive but i'm not hitting the sweet spot consistently...), great trajectory (perfect launch angle imo), and I seem to be playing one club less for my usual yardages. For example I pulled a 6 iron for a 175 yard par 3 and one-hopped it off the back of the green into the rough - probably carried 185... Granted my swing may be a little off because I'm swinging too hard (that's my bain) but they consistently seemed to be hitting longer. have to mention they are stiff flex and replaced the DGS200s that were previously in my i404 irons and they definitely feel stouter so I would attribute the distance gain to the improved launch angle and ball flight. I'd also have to say they spin a little less which would be logical given the shafts don't balloon. So far I love this shaft and will be happy to stick with them for a while. Right now I'm considering a set of Gauge Design NC-1s which will definitely have 1150s if I decide to buy. I'll post a final review once the swing is back in sync (could be any day...)

I think he is talking about re-sale value being so low, most people who buy $1250.00 sets of irons sell them for at least $900+. Have to admit I'm a little stumped as well. If I bought a set of irons for that price, you can rest assured that I've already ascertained their resale value to be at least $900. The fact that there are barely used sets available for $500 or less is truly surprising. I can't comment on Scratch irons per se as I've never owned a set but that kind of depreciation can't be good for business. At $1250 retail wouldn't that mean that cost is in the $500-600 range? If so, Ari should indeed buy back any sets for less than $500!

There must have been substantial feedback about the Z-UR ball being too hard and clicky. Reacting quite quickly, Srixon have now launched the softer Z-URS http://golf.dunlop.co.jp/newsrelease/2005/nws_029.html Can't wait to try it
  11. I would agree somewhat, but if KJ Choi - an ex-paratrooper - can use graphite in his irons, so can I !! Go On!!!!!!! I would love to see those AXIV shafts in irons........ If I fall in love with the AXIV driver shaft I ordered, I just might give the iron shafts a try! :surprize:

  13. Installed the NS Pro 1150 Tours in my Srixon i404s and played the first round with them today. Let me put the mini-review into perspective by saying that I couldn't get my irons online today - just couldn't hit them well. Although I was killing it with the woods and was on or around each par 5 in 2 (birdied 2 of them), the irons just weren't working. Still I have a good first impression of the shafts; Most of you who have ever tried NS Pros will be acquainted with the 950s. The 950s are distinctively light and hit a very high ball but give tremendous feedback. Feel is the main reason why I play NS Pros but I wanted something heavier with a lower ball flight. When the 1050s came out, I installed them in my Gold's Factory Muscle Backs and indeed they proved to be a heavier version of the 950s with similar characteristics. Although the 1050s also hit a high ball, they definitely play a little lower than 950s. Now for the 1150s - I can see why they added the "Tour" label to these shafts. They are (obviously) heavier, play tighter, and hit a lower ball than the 1050s. The steps on the 1150s are tighter than on the other versions and I would have to assume the kick point is higher. The 1150s really perform as I was getting accurate yardages even on mis**ts and dipersion was tight. A couple of shots would definitely have strayed further offline if I were hitting 950s or 1050s. Nonetheless, I'm a smooth tempo player and feel is the main criteria I seek in shafts - whether iron or wood shafts. The 1150s do not feel as nice as the other two and I'm not sure whether I'll end up loving these shafts like I've loved NS Pro shafts to date. Of course today was not ideal for assessing the shaft's merits but there is a distinct difference to previous models. For those of you who have liked NS Pros but complained that ball flight was too high, the 1150s may be the shaft for you. Off chips, I had no complaints at all and the feedback was fine allowing good distance control. I'll have to play a few more rounds before deciding whether my next set of irons (probably custom Mizunos) will be ordered with 1050s or 1150s. Then again, I might go a little crazy and order them with AXIV graphite iron shafts! Oh the HO in me...
  14. Fyi, the new Gauge putter covers are zippered. Much nicer than older ones and the zipper is perfect. Hope other mfrs. follow suit.
  15. Hmmm....I see you're back to the F-ST+ fairway wood. That stick hasn't left my bag since it was released! I even have a back-up which is very rare for me since I usually change clubs before I change my underwear  Nice paintfill on the Gauge MBs. I know a HO who swears by those irons and has stopped looking at other sets.
  16. That driver looks absolutely gorgeous, especially with the Tourstage logo on the crown. I have the X-Drive 405 and have always thought that 390cc+ drivers with no alignment on the crown can be a problem. Just might get mine re-fnished if I could find a driver to use in the meantime. Haven't found anything I liked recently so i'm in a dilemma. Another unique TSG topic!
  17. Zojo - you forgot to ask if you could get a free dozen to try :smile2:
  18. The TXD-65 is made by Graphite Design and is equivalent to a YS6.5. The TXD-75 is a Mitsubishi Diamana Stinger. TXD-65 is an excellent stock shaft.
  19. It's the most stable Tourstage driver to date. Great feel, good distance, and quite workable. Haven't hit many drivers of late so it's hard to compare to current line-ups but the driver is good. The M-65 performs very well - no complaints. I have the HiCor version and of course you gain yardage when hit on the absolute sweet spot but no different when slightly off. I'm already looking at a new stick but that's only because of my "need" to buy :money: Nonetheless, I'm more than happy to play this driver until something really catches my eye.

The stamping is awful and I very much doubt Scotty would be so sloppy for the No.1 in his stable. The putter would also be such a deviation from TW's Newport II that I doubt it was for Tiger even if the putter's real.
  21. I'm fortunate enough to get the X-01 or X-01S at good prices in HK. When I had to order them from Japan I was a little reluctant but now I can play them for about $45 a dozen. This works out to be similar to what I would have to pay for any ball I would order from the US when you factor in shipping. The X-01H is closer in specs to the X-01. Characteristics are supposedly similar to the X-01 but with a slightly lower compression and I believe a different dimple pattern. You can check on the website but I believe the compressions are X-01 at 95, X-01H at 93, and X-01S at 87 (might be slightly off but that's the range). If I weren't particular about the feel, I would stick with the X-01 (or try the X-01H) as it plays a little longer with less spin. However, feel is of paramount importance to my game so I play the X-01S.
  22. You ever try the X-01S ? Much better feel than the X-01 and not much difference in performance.
  23. Great shafts aren't they? I play the 1050s in my Gold's Factory wedges and just love the feel. Send Chris a PM.
  24. Watched some of the event on TV. All too polite and crowds were not big. I also don't know what kind of coverage the recent anti-Japan riots in China has received in the west but it caused some tension and worry before the event. Maruyama lost both foursomes and his singles. Shingo was the best Japanese player and the one who showed any degree of emotion. Don't know how many more editions of the Dynasty Cup we'll have in the future - sponsors (Visa) can't be getting too much bang for their buck. Also seemed like quite a few Nike Ignite drivers in play for the Japanese team.
