Ahh, thank you for the extra info! I know there are a few low ball hitters on every men's tour, but I couldn't see too many guys going to a high launch shaft unless it was really low spin. Glad the shaft is working well for the girls on the JLPGA.

TSG CS, interesting information, cheers. I am a little surprised that alot of pros would be playing a low kick, high launch shaft. Are they fairly low spin as well?
  3. Duffer, I know the older Oziks say 'The one' in Korean and quite a few other langugages, so maybe this is one of the clubs made up with a TP-7 that Chris mentioned in the original post?
  4. Sounds like the UT-106 would be better for most, but this is still a very nice looking club!
  5. So, tell us more! Very nice shape and finish, and I am sure that we will all look forward to hearing more about them. Gocchin, when are you trying these out?

While Chris is preparing his response, I will tell you that the TC-770 is one of my favourite 'players' cb's. They feel as good or better than anything else I have tried to date, and I think they are pretty forgiving. That is relative though, as other larger cavity backs like the TC-770 cast or ViQ forged are more forgiving. As for the Mizunos, I have not hit them yet. From what I have read here and heard from people in Japan who have tried them out, the E500 is indeed very forgiving (probably more so than the TC-770 forged). If you are on the fence and were after some extra forgiveness, the E500 would probably be the better choice.
  7. Thanks again! While I'm not surprised to see the ERC Hot in place of her old driver, the mix of US and Japanese X-Tours is funny, and I too am surprised to hear that the US spec short irons would be more flat than the JDM ones. Driver aside, it seems she hasn't changed too much of late, and it seems like everything is working well!
  8. Thanks Gochin! I saw her playing once when I was in Japan (not live though) and I catch random JLPGA highlights in Thailand. From what little I saw she has really developed her game.
  9. Hi all, Being a fan of Callaway Japan, and of the Japan LPGA when I get some news about it (hit or miss since my Japanese has really gone down hill) I was pretty excited to see that Momoko Ueda won the other week. Also, if my friend's translation of the article was on, it was her first win, so congratulations to her! If anyone on here follows the JLPGA and happens to know what she was using, could you throw that up here? I know Golfdigest Japan lists her with an X18 CF and some X-tours, but I just wondered if she had started using the ERC Hyper or any of the ERC hot fairways.

They have made some fantastic clubs, but are there enough of us on here to keep them afloat ? On the serious side, I really hope that they can get things set straight, or atleast sell off some of their designs (especially the Premium Zone putters) if they decide to close their doors.

Hit them, but not on the course. They are very soft, and great too look at, but they are blades, not neo blades like the TB-1000 or MP-32. If you have the game though, they are a great set of sticks. As for the forging, I don't know where they were done. Except for the new WR, most Srixon Japan irons are made in Japan.
  12. Chris, Somewhere along the way I think you said this was one of your favourite Srixon irons, but in a comparison awhile back, I 'thought' you mentioned something about them not being your favourite when hitting off a mat or at a range. I think you had another post up today about the interplay between grind and feel, so I wondered if there was something about the ZR-600 grind that you didn't like, or if the club just wasn't quite what you were after. Cheers.
  13. TSG quote of the day .
  14. Nothing wrong with asking! I really like the pics of some of Carlton's grinds, and would be interested in something similar on a 58 or 60. As far as different grinds for the Yururi wedges, the grind on the Raw Black blades looks good with the rolled or blunted leading edge; I would be more comfortable with that than with the Tour wedge pictured here, but that's just what suits me. I might take a little more off the heel, but without trying a set on the course yet, I'm not sure, it could be great as is. For other features... it might be interesting to see the machined face from other Yururi wedges (KM 0107) on the Raw Black or on this Tour wedge, although I don't know how it would hold up with a raw finish. Also, if you could get the KM 0107 irons with a rolled or blunted leading edge, that might work well for some people, but that could be more difficult since they don't have a raw finish.
  15. Chris, what the hell am I going to do with my ViQ short irons lol? Onto two serious points though. First, for those of you who haven't seen these in person, they are amazing... the grind is a little raw/rough/edgey, but they look like they have been crafted, not rolled off of an assembly line. I haven't gotten them on the course to comment on how they play, yet. Second, after coming back from a demo day, I could not agree more with Chris about feel and being comfortable with a club. I didn't realize how fussy I was with feel until I picked up a few drivers that sounded a bit off or just felt a little 'funny'. Some of you might be able to make a good swing with a club that feels off (that is really impressive, hats off to you) but I can't do it. Fortunately though, if I find a club that feels good, my confidence goes up quite a bit, and I can make a consistant move through the ball that produces some solid shots.
  16. I thought these were ~ square. Are the 'P' models open, or is the weighting set up for a bit of a fade?
  17. Not too bad! Posts like this make me anxious to try one out on the course, soon. While I'm a bit indifferent about the design when you're looking at the club in the bag, the view at address is fantastic.
  18. Shoe, I would tend to agree about the OnOff plus. They have a unique, classy look, and they apear modern without being outlandish. The XXIO forged have also caught my eye, but I am not a fan of two piece forgings after seeing a few clubs (not from Srixon/XXIO) split after a lie adjustment.
  19. Glad to hear that they are still working. Since we haven't heard anything about a TBC grind being available yet, I might have to get someone to try a similar grind on an old Spin milled or X-Tour with the MD grooves.
  20. Since I saw a few other threads from days bygone brought back to the top, I thought I'd see if there was any news on the surprise regarding these wedges! I'm still enjoying this look.
  21. Mid kick... well I learned something new! Maybe the head design, plus shorter length helps out with the great trajectory.
  22. I haven't tried another utility since I hit one of these... I think it is that good. Trajectory is piercing, distance is almost scary, and (knock on wood here) I think it is pretty forgiving for a 'player's' utility. Just a quick edit: Chris, do you or Gochin know anything about the stock graphite shaft in the X-UT? I love the feel and trajectory it produces. It seems like a mid/high or close to a high bend point shaft, yet the feel is really smooth. Now, where can I find an iron shaft to match...
  23. K2_2 replied to numtie's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The longer irons do have a composite insert that will make these a little easier to get up in the air. If you strike the ball consistantly and carry your five iron 175, the clubs should be fine for you. They are a player's cavity (not easy to hit in comparison to say the ViQ forged) but if you are a solid ball striker, and you like them, go for it. Personally, I don't notice a big difference between the R and S flex in the 950. If they feel nice (not boardy) and you don't notice yourself losing shots to the right you should be good to go.
  24. Great choice of clubs, and I'm happy to hear that you like the shafts! I talked to Chris about a slightly heavier version of the Axiv's awhile back, but I've yet to find anyone playing them... until now. As for the ViQ, having a set tends to color one's opinion (a set that I don't think I'll get rid of for a long time), but they have an amazing combination of forgiveness, feel, and control to shape shots. Enjoy!
  25. Maybe he has another set of Epon's on the way and needs a 115 g graphite shaft? On the serious side, have you compared these to the new Studio line or any heavy graphite shafts from Japan? I haven't been able to do a side to side comparison with the Tour AD Pro, Robmax 9E05, or Tour AD 95, but other than those (and the heavier Axiv) I can't think of anything Japanese shafts that would fit the bill.
