Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that Tourstage irons come in .355" taper, and that Nippons are also just .355" taper as well.

I trust that they will improve their English language website if they hope to sell goods in the US this year!

Let's face it. The cost of a golf club is only related in a small way to the actual cost of production. A major determinant is the cost of marketing (endorsements, advertising) and simply "what the market will bear". I can guarantee you that the cost of the "turbo rubber" and any difference in production techniques doesn't remotely approach $400!!

The MP series are more "Player's Clubs" for lower handicappers. Some are blades, and the MP-30's are somewhere between full cavity backs and blades. The MX series, like the MX 20 and 23, are more forgiving, typical of cavity backs. It's more of a matter of how much forgiveness you're looking for, rather than one being inherently "better" than the other. They're all pretty high quality.

The staff i speak with at Japan bridgestone has no clue what the J33's are. they are trying to keep the U.S stuff seperate. Theres a lot about bridgstone you guys dont know, Im not gonna even get into it. It does seem interesting that the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. I really like some of their equipment but their marketing in the U.S. has been dismal to non-existent. I hope 2005 is the year they make an impact here. I think there might be a set of J33 Combos with my initials on them out there somewhere.

My understanding was that "face progression" referred to how far in front of the center of the shaft the leading edge of a club was. It is related to offset.

You might be thinking about the Gauge CB's. The 27's have minimal offset in the traditional (progressive) way. Look at the picture at the top of this thread. Concentrate on the 4, 6, and 9 irons, since they have the best view. Am I hallucinating or a victim of parallax? The lower irons appear to have less offset than the higher numbered irons. Is it true that on the MP 27's the offset is inverse of typical. eg. the offset is GREATER on the short irons than the long irons?

I've been trying like mad to get any information about them, and have had very little success on this or other boards. I have found out that they are in the mid 120's for weight, or about 5 grams less than Dynamic Golds; more like Rifles for weight. I'd like information about kickpoint, tip stiffness, and how they play relative to Nippon 950's and 1050's. There just isn't much information forthcoming right now.

Could anybody out there comment on the pros and cons of the True Temper Tour Concept shafts vs. the Nippon 950 and/or 1050 in terms of feel, control, trajectory, accuracy, and distance. Thanks

Are the new "morphing" TQ 04 / J33 combos based on the X Blade CB for the cavity back portion of the set, before they morph into a blade for the short irons and PW?

TSG; any word on whether the TQ 04 combo/morphing set is going to be offered by Bridgestone/Precept to the wider market in 2005? I saw a set and it looks like it morphs from something that resembles an X Blade CB into a pure blade by the time it gets to a 9 iron/PW. The sold grind also looked somewhat like the X Blade CB. Any info?

Joe; What brands of heads and shafts do you carry?

How do they differ in feel and playing characteristics vs. a Nippon 950 or a Rifle (regular Rifle, not flighted or Project X, etc.) iron shaft?

Am I the only one that thinks something doesn't make sense here? An X Flex Fuji 757 with a cpm of 269??? Shouldn't it be higher frequency than that? 269 is more in the regular/stuff flex range. If it's truly an X flex 757, it should play VERY stiff. Please correct me if I'm off base here.

I had a Fourteen Hi-660 a year or so ago, and personally I liked it as a driving iron, but couldn't hit it consistently off the fairway. I prefer fairway wood-based hybrids over iron based, though, so my experience is biased. I've tried a LOT of hybrids over the past several years (Taylormade Rescue Mids, Kasco K2K, original Mizuno Fli Hi, Jackaroo II, Callaway Big Bertha 2002, SMT Solitaire, Precept 2-EZ, the Nakashima hybrids, and the Hogan hybrids), and the Hogans have given me the most satisfactory overall results from the fairway and off the tee. They set up square, and my understanding is that they are fairly neutral in their internal weighting, too. All I know is that I hit them straighter than anything else I've tried, with very predictable distances. The fact that the Hogans are also very reasonably priced is an added bonus.

Scratch is truly custom, so you have to check for any possible head finish/shaft combination. However, they are/were going to start selling some of their more popular finish/shaft/sole grind models as non-custom stock models, for a reduced price. I'd check with them to see if they are already doing that or not......
