Haha I'm not buying from J-Town, all my magazines come directly from Japan... it's still way cheaper than buying here!
-
I'm 5'4" - 5'5" in height and I hit a 44.5" driver. I was hesitant to go shorter because I thought I'd lose too much distance (especially since I'm not long in the first place) but I guess 44" is not out of the question especially if it allows me to be more accurate. I've also been used to hitting a driver in the C8-D0 range... but I'm sure for a lot of you that would feel too much like nothing!

It's always fun following what kind of equipment the pros use on tour. I was going through some old magazines and came across an old Golf Classic mag. In it there was some really useful data about driver shaft specs for pros in Japan and a small sampling from the Masters in 2005. What I found very interesting was how almost half the Japanese pro MEN used a driver shaft shorter than the standard 45". And while the Japanese men may be shorter than their US counterparts in average height, I really couldn't find a correlation between player height and shaft length. Some of the players playing 44-44.5" lengths were close to 6 feet tall. My only guess is that the pros create such great driver head speed, what they might lose in distance, if any at all, they gain in accuracy through the shorter shaft. Read more and see the data at http://www.inpakuto.com

Hi R, I go back for the same reason... good eats and fun! Not golf. I've been back 12 times in the last 10 years! This will be the first time at the golf show for me, believe it or not I've never played golf in Japan before! Was always busy doing something else... T
-
Of course from Japan my friend... they have faster internet connections than anyone. :)
-
Yes we are. I'm planning on being there with Chris. We'll be there for two days taking hundreds if pictures as well as videos. We'll also meet with several JDM brands outside of the show.... I'll be there with the wife for two weeks visiting her parents and checking out some golf courses and practice facilities throughout Tokyo too.

The All New 2007 Epon Technity Fairway Wood!

Hey C, what lofts are they available in? T -
Yup got those here... will scan and post tonight sir!!!
-
Thanks R, I've got pics and everything of all of them.... just been busy redesigning inpakuto.com so I haven't posted them yet. ^^ T
-
Could be, with the older models they all look very similar and I didn't look at the stats for that one. ^^
-
Not yet, if the Sonartec follows in the same pattern, the H2 would be the model after the GS Pro. The BBD H apparently is the SS2.5.
-
Sonartec GS Tour: 3-wood 13° 147cc 3-wood 14° 147cc 3-wood 15° 147cc 5-wood 18° 140cc RC Cv Pro: 13° 147cc 14° 147cc 15° 147cc 16° 144cc 18° 140cc 20° 131cc 22° 127cc So the models that are available as Sonartecs are the same size in volume at least. I'm guess for manufacturing reasons they are identical. Swingweight is 1 point higher for Sonarctecs and shafts are 0.5" longer.

New Pics of the EPON Technity Ltd & Black Wedges
gocchin replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Christ how many wedges do I have to buy??? It's not like I can carry and use them all!!! (^_^) -
D, Where'd the paintfill go?? ^^
-
Give Chris (TourSpecGolfer) a PM. I do still see some new sets floating around of both the musclebacks and MB2's in Japan so he may still be able to get them through his Gauge connections.

I've got more reviews now on the QT and I'll read them later tonight and post up more info but feedback has been good. Nice feel and straight ball flight taking out the left side with the QT. The Tanihara prototype that comes with the 460P is X-Flex and made for Hideto's specs which is a 110+ mph swing with smooth tempo.
-
The 460P model without the scoring lines appears to create less backspin under 1900RPMs than all the other four which have the scoring lines (2200-2900rpms), the 460P also produces considerably less sidespin. The clubs do play true to loft but of course the shafts will make a big difference on what kind of launch you actually get. Feedback on the Quattro Tech has been positive, Pros are reporting good feel and a much straighter ball taking the left side out of play. If you get the 460P it comes with the Hideto Tanihara spec X Flex GD Prototype anyway not the QT.

Thanks everyone! R you're so lucky! Akemas**te omedetou! I've been wanting some Fit39 gloves too... ^^

Happy new year greetings to everyone. All the best to you and your families. May we all continue to ho golf clubs and learn and share all about Japanese golf.

I just went for a set of Type X's based on forgiveness. I think of all the feedback here I read, all three sets are amazing but the edge went to the Type J's for feel. I grabbed the Type X's because of the slightly larger head, still soft Epon feel and I've always loved the looks. Can't wait to get them. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three, for feel and playability. What kind of feel and game are you looking for?

Good feed back R! Now where are the pics!

Yes they are from Daiwa.
