Tourstage 2007 X-Drive, Epon 460, or J33R 460 ?
gocchin replied to Jess123's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Feedback on the standard 460 has been that it's pretty much square and a slight draw. The shaft will have a big impact on the ball flight. If you're worried about fighting a hook the 430P is not a limited edition and is a standard model, weighted to fade. It also appears in many tests to be the longest of all the X-Drives... The Axiv V-spec shafts are good at taking the left side out of play... -
PM Chris... I think he just got a bunch in.

How much torque do you want when you say high torque? What kind of swing speed do you have and what's your tempo/style like?

Wedge Choice - Epon X-Model or Tourstage 2007 X-Wedge
gocchin replied to leepark's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It's going to be pretty tough to get feedback on the new X-Wedge as they are exactly that... new. However based on past models, the X-Wedge has always been a great wedge and the new ones look awesome. You can't go wrong with the Epons though as many here can attest to. Soft and great feel, all the Epon wedges are definitely winners. You can always do what many here do... buy all the wedges when then come out and then complain that there are too many wedges coming out!! (^_^) -
I think Ari is right and this is a conforming head.
-
If I'm not mistaken they are pretty much the same club...

Looks like a 405.... maybe it's the illegal HR one... ^^ http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/photo?slug=fls...104&prov=ap

Those proto drivers are in fact the new 2007 X-Drive. They make them stealth black supposedly to keep them inconspicuous however I find that draws more attention than anything. The protos were in test only by Tourstage's top pros and I doubt will ever circulate outside of Tourstage since they were for R&D purposes.

Is it only the 1150's that come in 0.355 only? Because 1050,950, and 850's come in both taper and parallel tip.

The All New Srixon Japan WR 460cc Driver!
gocchin replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
If I'm not mistaken, the WR line has a progressively closed face as the lofts increase. I will have to double check but I swear I saw it was something like: 9.5* square to 0.5* closed 10.5* 0.5-1.0* closed 11.5* 1.0-1.5* closed -
Good feedback and your observations are right on. The new X-Drive line has far lower trajectory than previous X-Drives while the Epon definitely flies higher. When Golf Gear initially tested all the new X-Drive models, the 430P was the longest of the bunch.
-
Glad to hear it worked out for you, Good feedback too on the shaft trajectory and feel! (^_^)
-
It's been said that the new 2007 X-Drive is very true to loft and that it has slightly lower trajectory than the 435. You may be good with a 10.5* if you found the 9.5* 435 good for you. Of course a lot will depend on the shaft you choose as well. ^_^

Awesome stuff as always C.... Damn I am supposed to be there with you... Have to blame my day job for canceling my trip to Japan!! Guys, the writeup above is only a small small fraction of what Chris saw... There is a ton of stuff he can't talk about but let's just say Endo may as well be the center of the golf world...

G-Field GFT Fairway - weights coming loose
gocchin replied to leepark's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
No weight issues here either with a GFT FW4 and UT5. tsg_smilie_smile2.gif -
Awesome stuff D, you wasted no time in getting the paint off those babies! Thanks to your advice I am also using the Limited Type X's as my gamers... it'd be a waste to let them sit. I've got a Technity 5 wood here that I want to integrate into my set somehow but I think I have a few too many clubs at the moment. (^_-)

R, A whole slew of the newer JDM drivers have closed faces... some up to 1.5* as the lofts progress. Let me flip through some of the specs tonight and I'll let you know which models...

Well I finally got to see a Gold's putter up close and personal today and boy am I impressed. It is a piece of art!@!! I got the limited edition M402 Prototype, 34" long. My first impressions were that this was one of the nicest looking putters I had ever seen. It has a mirrored finish on the face and bottom that are truly mirrors and a satin finished top. The workmanship is absolutely perfect. It came with a sock cover style headcover that was kinda cute. (^_-). I decided to keep the plastic on the grip and make a few putts side by side with my Premium Zone. It is so soft. I've pretty much converted to anser style putters but the balance and feel of this putter was unbelievable!! I was concerned that the mirror face would not provide much roll but it did and felt great. It's marked as JSS303 or Japan Stainless Steel 303. It was just as soft as the 304 insert on the Premium Zone and balance was just as good if not better. I will be taking this to the indoor golf center this weekend to hit the putting greens for a better test. It's too bad that this model was totally sold out in Japan cause I'm sure people would still buy it. I can't wait to try the Private Stock putters now. Took pics as always:

Great information Todd, I'm loving your analysis. Translating the numbers into real life performance can be difficult for many including myself. You're really helping out. ^^ I'm going to post Yamaha labs' test of the Diamana White, Quattro Tech and new Rombax X soon and you can try again if you want. (^_^)

Axiv vs Roddio - What are the differences?
gocchin replied to leepark's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
It's not a question of who knows something someone else doesn't know. It's all about you finding the best shaft for yourself. When talking about the Axiv, Roddio, Quattro, Diamana's etc, they are all such good shafts all with their own strengths and characteristics. Hearing good things about the Roddio doesn't in any way cast a shadow over the Axiv's performance. Truth is maybe the Axiv isn't for everyone but it does work for a lot of people, the Roddio will probably be the same. For some people the Axiv will be better, for some the Roddio, and for others an Ozik.... etc. That said there's nothing wrong with getting excited with the new kid on the block and new tech as Dorkman and Duffer said. But not to worry cause all those positive reviews about the Axiv must mean something right? (^_^) Nobody has surrendered to that idea (yet ^^). It would be hard to considering the majority of people would be making that assumption without ever hitting a Roddio. I follow the JDM market really closely as does Chris and many others and no one has declared the Roddio champion, we're merely saying, it's a pretty good shaft, techwise and looks wise. Even the shootout where Roddio did pretty awesome, it made it clear that the Roddio performed for that specific tester's swing. Don't worry, if you were fit with the right model axiv with the epon head, you will love it! (^_-) -
The white Tourstage bag is my dream bag....

Epon 460 - naturally high/normal/low launching head?
gocchin replied to leepark's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Awesome J!!! That'll be great for the TSG and JDM enthusiast community! Your fitting sessions have helped so many! -
It's part of the Six Shaft Shootout at Inpakuto here: http://www.inpakuto.com/content/view/143/81/ It did very well against all the top shafts. It has a unique carbon weave pattern , minimizes vibrations and twisting for maximum energy transfer. And it's double sided color is very cool looking.... They are getting very popular in Japan and getting more tour presence which is usually a sign of good performance (^_^).

Same beauty, just new pic.... So what do you think of the Precious Edition? R, have you hit Miura before?
-
Well Miura has brought out some of it's new forgings for 2007 and it's real precious stuff... I'm talking about their new Precious Edition woods and utilities. They are also releasing a smaller sized driver head, a 325cc model called the MG Hummer. (I guess they don't know that the Hummer here in North America is a big ass truck! ) The new WMC-01 wedge is a beauty and is made with their patented WDD Accurate Forging process. It's available in 52* and 57* lofts and finished in a nickel chrome, satin or black. Also along for the ride is the new WDD Forged WMC-02 weight balanced wedge, only available in 57* loft and nickel chrome, satin or black.
