The only thing I know of is the shaft selection. Isn't it also .86 vs. .83, even though it's tour? Dwayne: It's conforming.

I hit one last week--it wasn't tour and it had a MAS shaft, but it was from Japan--and couldn't believe that I was out driving it with my J340. Maybe it was that it was set up wrong for me or the 10.5* and MAS haft put too much spin on the ball...or maybe the J340 is just a bad-ass. Patrick, I'm telling you this now...you're not going to find any more distance with any other club than you get now from the 983e; as for forgiveness, you're too good of a ball striker to really benefit much from what ever advantage it has over the 983e. Dwayne, I think the shaft is the true engine of the golf club anyway. I think it's the total setup here that works for me. You are giving good advise to Patrick in my book. He's a good ball striker so the larger sweet spot on the TM won't be a factor. While this is a hot face, it's all about the shaft. That's sounds like a bad-ass J340! Jim, putter is working well too...God bless you!

  5. I have both the J340 and the XD390...I'm simply can't tell which I like better. The differences are obvious though. The J340 is more enjoyable all around. I'm sure you know this already. I can do anything with this driver, and the looks & feel is 2nd to none. The 390 is equally stunning in it's large package and has a very solid, hot feel. It is low trajectory and long. You can expect nearly the same about of carry as the 340 but with more roll; the j340 puts more spin on the ball. I think I'm more accurate with the J and longer with the 390. The j340 is a little easier to hit. I'm playing the 390 more these days...I'm swing the big stick well these days. 'Hope this helps.

  7. I"m curious and will be watching...Like I really need a 3rd Tourstage driver, huh? :money:
  8. Well...if you can not talk the "seller to part with the club" I may have what you need: 9* XD 390 Pro Spec with GD JYS 6.5. PM me if you're interested....
  9. Good topic...is the J340 Tour or Proto--I've heard it called both. One thing's for sure, it ain't retail.
  10. Chris is trying to find me a Tourstage 2-iron. I thought there was a TS-202 version but Chris thinks maybe not. I was looking for something that has a little more offset than my z101s and also a little bigger and more forgiving. You guys know of a sweet 2-iron that would compliment my z101? I'm thinking the X-Blade AirMuscle hits too low? I've tried SYB but didn't find them accurate enough? What about TS201 or the XCBs, maybe even NB32ex? Some other OEM not named Taylor Made? I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
  11. Sure, I know where you stand, so I can understand what you're position. But imagine if you'd never heard of Tourstage before and you walked into a shop and saw them charging those prices, you'd be taken a back a bit wouldn't you? By the same token seeing Precept clubs with that price range would only be a slightly incremental jump and people wouldn't even notice. They'd be at least familiar with the name of the company and some of their products. Bridgestone really screwed up if they want Tourstage to be that kind of company, with what they did with the Z line of products. The products while not bad, are not what those that are familiar with Tourstage would love. They're not the type of products that will force people to play them, they're not the type of clubs that make you feel like you're missing something if you don't have them. Sure you've got to start somewhere, but to expect to come in and become anything close to the bigger companies is a mistake. They've got to look at the other Japanese companies that have come to the US, the two most successful have been Mizuno and probably Yonex, and neither of those have ever been huge companies over here. It seems a bit unrealistic to me to expect Tourstage to become something like that. They'd be better off at least in the short term building the Precept name, than risking de-valuing that on a Tourstage line that fails. It's going to be a hard sell regardless. TM, Titleist, and Cally really has a strangle hold on the U.S. market--Just ask Nike. Have you noticed that hardly anything but TM sells on these boards any more. I've hit at least 3 other clubs that were as long (or longer) and more accurate than the 510 TP but folks have really bought into the hype that TM and others put out. I'm not saying that TM isn't good...I'm saying that I've found stuff that was as good or better. To crack the U.S. market any new company is really going to have to be prepared to slug it out...no matter if they're called Nike, Precept, Tourstage, etc.
  12. Precept doesn't necessarily translate to (high) quality or performance to most of the golfing public either. Most people see it as 2nd tier stuff. If you launch under the Tourstage name and market their clubs as quality and pro level performance, rivialing Titleist and Mizuno, then most people will accept this Tourstage as something new. I think you know which banner I fly.
  13. Is it conforming? Yes 100% Let's see some good pics again, please.

  15. The JC must be some driver if you felt the XD390 felt "tinny." Regardless, Good review. Thanks.
  16. I have a 15* BBD Super Pro SS that's never been hit (head only). $125 shipped.
  17. ...Replied!
  18. I have a ProSpec 390 (condition is a solid 9) with a ultra-sweet Graphite Design JYS-6.5 Blue. PM me (or email: [email protected]) if you're interested. Dwayne
  19. If you're looking for a hot, beuatiful, and great feeling smallish driver then I highly recommend the Tourstage RX-1 Type 315 (or its younger sibling, the X-Drive 325). I'd chose the RX-1 over the Kasco Tour 10 out of 10 times. I would choose a Kasco 10 out of 10 times over a Xdrive. Not even close. A Tourstage bigot vs. a Kasco bigot...I think our opinions cancel each other out.  OT: Nice avatar. Wanna explain what its all about? Btw... When do I get my Bobby Grace back? Yup! What's should we read into your avatar?

  22. I play JYS Blue 6.5. It's great. Plays true to flex; I play (S)tiff. With the 2.8 torque I doesn't put a lot of spin on the bal even though it's High-Kick...and because it's high-kick and I still feel like I can work the ball--even though I don't normallly. The kick itself is strong but smooth. I like this shaft even better than the 660TR, which doesn't feel as firm and seems to produce a little more spin. Plus, the shaft is BEAUTIFUL. 'Hope that helps.
  23. All the XDs you mentioned are very solid and sweet feeling. They are hot, nearly to COR limit and have mid-boring trajectory...and all are quite stunning in appearance. Some would say that TourStage drivers are not as forgiving as the later TM models, that they have smallish sweet spots. I have a 390 myself and I disagree that the XDs are hard to hit/unforgiving. There's nothing like puring one of these babies. The only really difference between the 350, 350, and 390 ProSpec Series (besides size) is that the 350 (and 300) model's face angle is .5* closed. I hope this helps....
  24. nato..not edamame...anyone can eat edamame :smile1: Sure they can. But I do it with styyyyyyyyyle. Natto is disguting. :poop: Its the only food I know of that looks as bad as it taste... That Natto crap is truly bad. I ridicule my wife every time I see her eating some. :yuk:
  25. Given what's happening to my expanding waistline I need to eat edamame & rice every morning...and lunch too!
