Posted November 26, 200519 yr comment_108556 I just bought the Tourstage X-ST 3 wood from Chris. I love the ballflight and was quite surprised at the forgiveness. I felt it was very easy to hit. My only concern is my shaft selection. I got the stock TXF-55 in a Stiff/Regular. I feel it may be a little too whippy. I also have a J33 3 wood with the NV-75 Regular flex. It feels much stiffer than the Tourstage TXF-55 Stiff/Regular. Should I have gotten a stiff TXF-55 to be equal to the NV-75. Any experiences with the two? I'm going to get a 5 wood also so I need input before ordering. I may have to sell the 3 wood Stiff/Regular on ebay and get the Stiff. Thanks in advance!

S/R is weaker than stiff and a 55g shaft compared to the 75 will also play into effect. I suggest instead of buying another X-ST to just get a good shaft and insert it. I'm hearing the Diamana M73 is killer in Fairway woods. you could go that route or even the same NV-75 you have sitting around. Anyway you go the X-ST head is a gem!

I have the TXF-FF in a Viq fairway wood in S/R and I agree it feels pretty whippy. Haven't had it out on the course though so we'll see how it performs there.
November 27, 200519 yr comment_108617 another factor to consider is that the nv is a tip stiff shaft that will MAKE the shaft feel much stiffer. what i would higher suggest is to play a few rounds with the stock shaft and see what the shot trend is. a slightly whippier shaft in your fw is not necessarily a bad thing!
November 28, 200519 yr comment_108671 Must be the "stiff/regular" flex. I have the TXF55 in stiff and it is not whippy.
November 28, 200519 yr comment_108677 55 grams is very light for a fairway wood shaft. Personally, I have trouble feeling the head position during the swing with such a light shaft.
November 28, 200519 yr comment_108714 X-ST I picked up from +1 has a 950FW shaft, initial tests are the head is amazing but the shaft isn't for me, I have to back off too much in order to get a decent result, however I have a Pro95 waiting in the wings if the Diamana S83 doesn't fix the problem...

Let us know how the Diamana works out..... that's a combo I'm interested in.......Thanks!

November 29, 200519 yr Author comment_108762 UPDATE: I went to the driving range and spent some more time with the Stiff/Regular shaft. I agree with several of the above posts. Yes the 55 gram shaft can be difficult to feel where the head is. I really have to trust my swing and let the shaft do the work. With that being said, I am growing to like the kick that it produces. I don't feel like I have to work for the ballflight I want like I did with the NV. I'm going to order the 5 wood with the Stiff/Regular also. If these fail me on the course, I will change the shafts. I can't say enough good things about the head. Forgiving, looks great, feels great, and the perfect size. Thanks for all the input!!!!

I had a low-50's gram shaft on a driver, and when my swing was grooved I could crush it. But the swing was nearly totally dependent on muscle/neural memory; there was little feedback of feeling the head. I do better with a mid-70's gram shaft. I don't hit it quite as far, but I get into far less trouble and can work myself out of a bad groove easier, since I get more feedback.
