sly_sam
I'd love to help! 1. I've always liked the look of Titleist from adress. The Nike SQ is really unique from the top, but many people don't like the trailing edge moon shaped design near the back of the head. 2. The High Bore looks great from the sole, and I liked the bright yellow of the Nike SQ. 3. I like a driver with the score lines that leave a circle shape in the middle of the face where the sweetest part of the face is. I also like how Callaway has incorperated their logo into the middle of the face on their FT-3 and X 460 drivers. 4. I like the longer hosel, it makes the club look classy for some reason. 5. Red, Blue, Yellow. 6. I like Beta Titanium, but as long as it's hot, it really doesn't matter. 7. Nver been a fan of the Carbon much. 8. Never been a fan of the moveable weights either. 9. Titleist 905 R was pretty sweet sounding. So was the Callaway X 460 and the SasQuatch from Nike. 10. I used to play with a driver that didn't have one, but I found that just a small arrow is nice. No seperate paint fill from the drivers crown, so it blends in when you hit, but is there when you set up.
+TourSpecGolfer
1. MR-23 360cc 2004 and PRGR T3 Black 440cc ( simple pear compact profile ) 2. PRGR T3 ( brushed silver doesnt show scratches, not many engravings ) 3. Full facial score lines with no paint fill. 4. PRGR T3 hosel ( short and classy, looks best with high quality japanese tapered silver line ferrule ) 5. Black and Brushed Silver. 6. KS120, 15-3-3-3, and SP700, driver tech is maxed so it dont matter as much as we may think. 7. No, today we can make the crown ultra light without ruining the sound with carbon. 8. Weight adjustment that only the factory can adjust. 9. Best Sound is G-Field GFT due to foamed head, Tourstage MR-23 & RX-1. Im old school thwack mute. 10. Zero alignment aid BTW, What is your company name and URL?
sly_sam
Another sweet looking drivers from the sole design is the TourStage ViQ. Both the 450 and 430 are pretty nice, but I like the look of the 430 better from the sole. Drivers like that, that look techy, are always eye catching. Sam-Tee-Time
I don't have visual examples of all drivers out there, but there is my $.02.... 1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line? Titleist wins here. Their traditional setup and apperance is the best. Also - they don't have a lot of offset, which I like. 2. Favorite Sole Design? I like something simple, flowing, yet purposeful. The TaylorMade R580XD comes to mind, also the Bridgestone J33R. 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled) Keep it simple. Some moderate score lines for framing the ball, with a blank spot in the middle (at impact position) Again, the Bridgestone J33 comes to mind. 4.Hosel Type? (Short Hosel, Long Hosel, Unique Shaped Hosel) Standard Short Hosel ONLY, please. 5. Color or Colors? Darker black, or a very deep, deep color is best. TaylorMade or Titleist come to mind. I love that old finish on the Titleist 98X series woods/drivers, with a slight metallic finish. 6. Favorite Material For Face? (9-6-4, Beta, SP700 or other) I can't quite tell the differences, but I like drivers that are not as clanky and tinny sounding. I like a more "solid" feel, like the Titleists or Bridgestones. 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns? (Yes or No) I LOVE the feel and sound of the Carbon crowns. THe FT-3 Cally sounds very unique, but I like it. 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight? Of course that's handy, but I don't mind the tool. 9. Best Sounding Driver? Bridgestone J33R is the best sounding and feeling Driver I've hit. THe Taylormade R7 460cc and Callaway FT-3 come in 2nd place. I love the more muted, powerful sounds, and dislike tinny/clanky sounding drivers (like Cobras, Clevelands, etc.) 10. Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) Keep it simple. A simple arrow (Titleist), or logo (Callaway) is sufficient. Nothing huge or obnoxious. sly_sam
We don't need any more Ping half-moon things painted on the top, those were cool, but I wouldn't buy a driver with that on it.
MGB
Doing a design for a company (Driver). WOuld love to get your opinion on the following:If you have examples for these that would be great. 1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line? I like the Titleist drivers at address. Also the Bridgestone J33R, nice classic pear shaped heads. 2. Favorite Sole Design? I like how the X460 sits flush at address. From a cosmetic standpoint, Titleist and Bridgestone. 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled) I like no score lines in the center of the face. 4.Hosel Type? (Short Hosel, Long Hosel, Unique Shaped Hosel) the hosel will be a function of the design. I lean towards a longer hosel, but I'm not going to be too finicky about it. I've had good results with the X460 which almost doesn't have one. 5. Color or Colors? Black from the top. Colors on the sole are fine. 6. Favorite Material For Face? (9-6-4, Beta, SP700 or other) SP700 seems to provide really good results. I like the cup-face design too. No welds on the face. 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns? (Yes or No) Only if it doesn't affect the sound of the driver. I've used the X18 and ERC Hot and Hot Tour. Good sounding drivers with carbon crowns. 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight? Only if they really work. I like being able to adjust the driver to get optimum launch conditions. It also has to look good. Haven't seen anything more attractive than the TM system. 9. Best Sounding Driver? I like the sound of the G5 and the X460. Good powerful sounds at impact. 10. Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) I don't need an alignment aid on the driver. I prefer to use the face.
FairwayFred
1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line? - Titleist 975D, TourStage J340 or XDrive 340, 365, 435 or any very pear shaped head 2. Favorite Sole Design? -I like the classic Persimmon butterfly soleplate anything simple gets my vote. 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled) -Full face lines unpainted 4.Hosel Type? (Short Hosel, Long Hosel, Unique Shaped Hosel) -Somewhere between a short and long hosel. 5. Color or Colors? -Black on top 6. Favorite Material For Face? (9-6-4, Beta, SP700 or other) -Whatever you find gives best performance in your testing. 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns? (Yes or No) -I would say no but I could live with it. 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight? -Internal weights only. 9. Best Sounding Driver? -Old Persimmon or Titleist 975D 10. Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) -No alignment on top.

Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) 1. Favourite shape is the classic pear shape. The nearest I could think of is the VIQ 2. 2. The sole design could be classic or spaceage, as I don't see it when I address the ball, personally it doesn't matter. 3. Scorelines, pretty much the same as the X-Drive scorelines. No paint fill. 4. Long hosel. 5. Clour black. The better the finish the better. 6. Favourite face material would be the one that closly resembled persimmon to hit. The new drivers may go further, but a persimmon hit out of the screws can't be matched for feel. 7. If it can be avoided, no carbon crown. 8. Prefer not to have to use a weight tool, however I like the idea of the "heavy weight" Ashton driver. This way you could totally cutomize the driver in terms of weight, length and feel. Lead tape, adjustable weights or rat glue, change the characteristics of the club. 9. Get it to sound as much as possible like persimmon. I may be being unreasonable here, however you asked the question. 10. No alignment device on the top of the club. I'm sure everybody here is interested in how you go with this. Please post some pictures of the proto type when completed. :tsg_smilie_cool:

Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) 1) i liked the x-drives, ping g`s, and nike dfi set ups, cleveland comp isn`t bad either, just don`t have it set up closed and I prefer a little deeper face, the ping`s and titleist drivers, though pretty, aren`t deep enough for me 2)something simple 3)full face unpainted 4)short and elegant, simple, i liked the cleveland comp a lot 5)black 6)doesn`t really matter too much to me, something solid and hot feeling 7)no carbon 8)adjustable by manufacture if desired, the mwt is just kinda corny looking sometimes 9)deeper tones and not too tingy is what i prefer, don`t care too much 10)NONE
ckay
1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line? Titleist always had the classic look at address. No unsightly bulges. 2. Favorite Sole Design? Again, Titleist has done a nice, clean sole design for years. 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled) Painted for sure...don't know how to answer the others. 4.Hosel Type? (Short Hosel, Long Hosel, Unique Shaped Hosel) Short, but not too short. 5. Color or Colors? Gray or black is always nice 6. Favorite Material For Face? (9-6-4, Beta, SP700 or other) Too technical for me 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns? (Yes or No) My MP001 fairway metal is carbon crowned. Don't mind it. 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight? NO! Golf is hard enough! 9. Best Sounding Driver? Titleist always had a solid sounding driver. My TP sounds good. I've only been a Titleist player until this season, where I made the switch to the R5 TP because it is so long and forgiving 10. Alignment Devices on top of head (Paint, engrave, or none) Small sight dot, like the DCI triangle found on the Titleist, or a circle T TM uses is effective enough
ramizuno13
1. PRGR T3 Blue 2. Mizuno 300s2 3. Straight line completely across and no paint 4. New PRGR hosel (unbelievable!!!) 5. Black 6. SP-700 (Only the best will do) 7. No more Carbon Fibre 8. No tools or external wieghts (enough already) 9. Any Mizuno, pre-Carbon Fibre 10. None preferred, but a small dot with same paint fill is fine.
+TourSpecGolfer
By looking at the response we got some killer suggestions! Very High End! I would however like to add that full face score lines is usually to impart more spin on the ball, which IMO is good. In the 2004 and early 2005 the major OEMs were racing to obtain the lowest CG, least amount of spin and a higher launch, well they backed it off in late 2005/2006 lowering the launch angle, and increasing spin....why? Because it equals more distance with more roll without the sacrafice of consistancy, It also adds a stronger more penetrating ball flight over a trajectory that is a bit more floaty. As soo as I get the prototype I will give results and then as soon as I am allowed to send images I will make sure you are the first to see them. I dont think you will be disappointed at all. I think this might shake some pants at TM.

Goldenhawk
1. Favorite shaped driver from Top Line: Bridgestone's J33, Titleist 905R, Cleveland's Comp or Nike Ignite 2. Favorite Sole Design: Callaway's X18/X460 3. Favorite type of Score Lines (line type, how many lines, paint filled, non paint filled): Some scorelines outside dead center. No score lines in the dead center spot. 4.Hosel Type: Callaway's S2H2 5. Color or Colors: Top should be gray or black. Bottom can have any design. The bright Nike SQ and new Taylor Made R7 colors adds some nice bling. 6. Favorite Material For Face: Nike's Next Ti of SP700 7. Carbon Fiber Crowns: Yes, if it's like the Cleveland Comp. 8. Would you prefer not to have to use a tool to adjust your weight: Weight adjustment does nothing for me. 9. Best Sounding Driver: Callaway's X460 or Cobra's Speed series. A nice loud smack does wonders for the ego. 10. Alignment Devices on top of head: A simple arrow is nice. I like the Nike SQ arrow.
