Posted December 15, 200618 yr comment_127098 Mizuno has got a new driver on the market that they claim is their best ever. It is the new version of the 300S their most popular tour level player driver of all time. Its their first full Titanium forged driver and has th ability to be bent open faced or closed. you can even change the lie angle. Thank you Mizuno! Its about time you made somthing that compares to the 300S of old.
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127101 Oh cool there's the QUAD 6Butt Standard... I've been reading a lot about that shaft. Is that stock?
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127104 That driver looks great. Does it have the same solid feel of the 300S? When will it be available?
December 15, 200618 yr Author comment_127110 That driver looks great. Does it have the same solid feel of the 300S? When will it be available? Available now Ari, If you want to switch up let me know asap. Its supposed to be open face -1 standard. The Design is based off of many requests for a new 300S version driver. Here is a pic for those who think domestic gear is on the same level as JDM. The long metal hosel makes bending lie and face angles easy. it was meant to be this way and you may want to do it on your own or have us do it for you. This has got to be one of the most advanced models from any brand period, look at the materials used, never heard of most of these being used in a driver. December 15, 200618 yr comment_127115 Looks great! Aren't stock Mizuno shafts subpar compared to other stock shafts? Edited December 15, 200618 yr by 777
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127116 Looks great! Aren't stock Mizuno shafts subpar compared to other stock shafts? They used to be but apparently not this one. In a recent Japan shootout which I'm putting together for the blog, it held it's own against aftermarket Axiv V, Diamana, Rombax, Tour AD PT-6, and Roddio. Edited December 15, 200618 yr by gocchin
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127118 Looks great! Aren't stock Mizuno shafts subpar compared to other stock shafts? Great info! I sure hope so cause its one expensive club!!!
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127120 Just a couple of questions: Do you have one of these in your hot little hands?? If so when is the review?? I've used to use one of the older model Mizuno drivers, really don't know why I ever changed :tsg_smilie_confused:
December 15, 200618 yr Author comment_127131 Yes I have several in stock with several deals pending. The Quad shafts are considered high end and solid performers, lots of Japanese OEMs are making premium shafts so their players can endorse the shaft and driver together.
December 15, 200618 yr comment_127132 Would you consider this particular driver/shaft combination is targeting lowhcp/better/stronger players vs. JPX line for 'regular' players, i.e. hcp 12 and above?
December 15, 200618 yr Author comment_127133 Would you consider this particular driver/shaft combination is targeting lowhcp/better/stronger players vs. JPX line for 'regular' players, i.e. hcp 12 and above? Yup this driver is a low handicap club, neutral weighting, adjustable face angle, and 425cc's is how i came to that conclusion.
December 16, 200618 yr comment_127153 About time they came up with something to replace the 001. Why no 460 version, Chris?
December 16, 200618 yr Author comment_127169 About time they came up with something to replace the 001. Why no 460 version, Chris? My best guess is that will come out mid 2007.

December 19, 200618 yr comment_127250 Ah the end of the year, so many new clubs, with more on the immediate horizon. That is the most attractive driver I've seen in quite some time. As such, it moves to the head of the list of wanna have one for spring.
December 20, 200618 yr comment_127283 I played the 300s, while a great club it was unforgiven as hell, is this driver somewhat forgiving? I like it
December 20, 200618 yr Author comment_127299 I only have net time with it right now, nothing on the green grass. Its gotta be more forgiving, their were 2-3 versions of the 300S i liked the smallest heads feel but even the 400cc model was very unforgiving imo. The new Craft model should be much more forgiving. Its now their top pro model driver. wish i could help you more. Its just too cold to play often now.
July 3, 200816 yr comment_150855 I know i am reviving an old thread, but is the quad shaft this driver comes with the same as the quad shafts sold in the proshop?
July 3, 200816 yr comment_150856 I know i am reviving an old thread, but is the quad shaft this driver comes with the same as the quad shafts sold in the proshop? No they are not unfortunately, the ones in the pro shop are 2008 models. The Quad in the Craft was more of an OEM version that shares some characteristics of the current Quad but not the same shaft. Needless to say though still a good shaft.
July 5, 200816 yr comment_150898 Great great driver!! Forte's got one.. I tried his and absolutely fell in love with it.. Believe me that I have tried quite a few drivers... Great great feeling head.. The shaft is definitely on the soft side though...It's a 70gm stiff Quad Butt Standard and I can play it with relative ease with my 85-95mph swingspeed (I know it's a wide range but it's what it is) I ended up picking one up as well..
July 5, 200816 yr comment_150900 I've wanted one of these since it launched; who doe's the 460cc model compare to the 425cc? Can you adjust the 460cc as well? Is the initial launch low, medium or high? Thanks boys.....BB

Is the initial launch low, medium or high? Thanks boys.....BB I think adjustments can be made to both the 460 and 425 just the same.If you're talking about face angles the ones that I've seen have been 0.5 to 1* open. I get a medium launch with the Craft 425. Edited July 5, 200816 yr by Barry_757
July 11, 200816 yr comment_151006 For comparison, how much more forgiving is the 425 craft compared to the mp-001 400cc? I have been hitting this driver for a few days and it actually feels pretty good. Not very forgiving, but i am used to my cobra. There is just something about this driver that has me very interested.
July 11, 200816 yr comment_151018 Medium Launch and great great feeling head.. best feeling I have played and on average I have at least 3 new drivers every season.. This is my 6th Driver on rotation this season.. Seriously good feeling or else I won't add it as my 6th!!! I find it more forgiving then my Titleist 905R.. keep in mind that Mizuno Pros in Japan (Akane Ijima) play this Driver so it's not a hihg-handicap driver (I own 06 ViQ and 08ViQ that are in that category) but it's not ridicously hard either.. Have only hit MP001 briefly at a shop so can't offer you a detailed comparison except that the Craft is way more solid feeling.. I find the OEM Quad Shaft very good for an oem shaft, it was compared against AXIV, PT6 on one issue of GolfGear and it faired quite well.. I have heard that the lie angle can be bent.. but I think it can also be purchased with different lies.. On the issue of Golf Gear, it was marked with red and yellow dot to denote the non-std lies.. Std. lie is not marked. Haven't measured mine, but my buddy's Craft425 is dead square as he's got it speced. out.. As to the difference between 425 and 460.. the 460 is internally draw weighted while the 425 is neutrally weighted.
