Forte
With all of Tourspec's offering, it seems there is a sea of wedges to choose from? I am looking to get some new forged wedges. Looking at the 3 different Epon models, Yururi Jersey.. .other suggestions? Looking to keep proices to about $200/wedge I prefer something that doesnt rust. What would you recommend and why? Blader-X
Epon. Best feel, and custom options available. This is a very hot topic and I think you may get about 30 different replies. Have fun choosing!!
gocchin
Hey Fe, Epon has great feel and looks. Super performers. And as B said, lots of options and models to choose from. Tourstages new wegdge is also a looker and apparently puts a lot of spin on the ball. Definitely a lot of options to choose from but I'd go for one of these two. ajaykkr
gft-sw, or zodia US spec (not chiba) (i havent tried the epon, saving the dough for the chikara).
TheHawkmc
The Miura forged Cleveland 588's, if you can find them. Best wedges I've played in a long, long time from a combination of grind, feel and control (very versatile). Plus they just look awesome!! daamartin
Just got 52/56/60 Epon Technitys in satin. Surpassing my expectations in terms of feel and playability. Had mizuno and bridgetone wedges previously and these are better all-round.
Forte
Thanks for your suggestions so far. I would be moving from Ping Eye wedges and I know they really bite and shred balls/greens. I will still be using my Ping Eye 2 Lob wedge as its been so realiable. Just switching up my irons and Epon really is one of my top choices. The 07 Tourstage wedges look great too. Question about the Epons. I see 3 dirfferent models: X, HG & Technicity. Can anyone explain the mains differences between them?
gocchin
The X and Technity are quite similar in shape and dimensions but with different finishes and slightly different grooves. They are both made from soft S20C. The X has the Copper finish which oxidizes and changes over time but gives a very soft feel, it is also available in satin and for a limited with NiCr20. The Technity has the sharper grooves which spin like mad but can be tough on balls sometimes, it comes in Satin and a Black finish only, I think it was available in NiCr20 for a limited time too. The HG is only available in copper and has 3 lofts only (the X and Technity have 5 loft choices). It is also S20C. The HG top width and sole width are identical with the back "scooped" out for a super high center of gravity. This apparently produces a low trajectory high spin kind of shot. I've only tried the X model and I love it. Straight and soft feel. Good spin. Durable finish.
ClubHoUno
Cast carbon steel: Titleist Vokey - nobody beats it. Bob Vokey is the greatest wedge maker in the world. I've tried a lot of forged carbon steel wedges (Tourstage 2005 model, Miura and Mizuno Mp-T) and to me Vokey's are second to none. Forged carbon steel: Tourstage X-wedge 2007 (I'm tempted to buy a trio of these from Chris.....very tempted if it was not for the......), Callaway X-Tour (forged 1020 carbon steel and made by second greatest wedge designer in the world: Roger Cleveland), Mizuno Custom Made Mp-R, Miura Forged, Scratch Forged and Epon Forged - you can't go wrong with either of these wedges. Phillip Alexander
wait for the Chikara Design i promise you it will not be a let down.it will be the softest and most versitle wedge out on the market. TBC Well I'm chomping at the bit, which I'm sure everybody else is!!

Any info/experience on fourteens V3 or J spec?? Love the look of the those. Both very nice wedges with lots of spin. The V3 is a popular seller in Japan as it's geared more towards the mid and better player, while the J-Spec has the wider sole, bigger head and is geared towards the average to high handicap golfer. mramage
gocchin, I take it you like the epons better then the MT28s you used to have in your bag? Why?
gocchin
gocchin,I take it you like the epons better then the MT28s you used to have in your bag? Why? It's not necessarily that I like the epon's better than the fourteens, I just like trying new things, I consider myself a testing enthusiast (^_^)... my bag is changing all the time. I did like the V2's very much. Very clean design, good spin and feel. Just had to get the Epons. (^_^)
Blader-X
I have the Epon X-models in copper and just love those. However, you can't go wrong with any of those choices you mentioned. In regards to the shafts, I have the True Temper Black Golds in mine and I think they're better performers in a wedge than the Nippons. Trajectory is lower and better feel on the touch shots, at least in my experience.

It seems to me a lot of members like the Nippons for their irons, but go for True Temper for their wedges. If Jack were to find the perfect approach wedge from 30 yards, his handicap would go from 14 to 4. It also seems I'm not the only one in this category, with significant interest in all wedge posts. The Epons that have been "Carltoned", have been received very well.

Claus, I too love the vokey design wedges. I am looking to splurge on a set of JDM wedges (52,55,58) as they are abundant this year. In your experience (or anyone else) which wedge has a similar playing characteristic to the vokey design, as I really like there shape. The offerings from Fourteen, Tourstage, epon, and Carlton are leading my search. I could use the advise of some TSG testers to help me guide my thougts on this purchase. Thanks, Kent

Thanks, Kent So far no wedge has been able to give me the same feel of the Vokey's satin finish cast carbon steel. I've tried Miuzno, Miura, Tourstage, Cleveland, Callway, Taylor Made and Bridgestone wedges. My Vokey's are still - in my view - superior in feel, head design and different lofts and lie combinations. In fact the Mizuno forged wedges 1020 carbon steel in black nickel felt harder than my cast Vokes....go figure that out I intend to order a set of the Oil Can Vokey's spin milled and have them special M grinded by Joe Kwok. This way I'll get the best wedge in the business, in my view.

I've always felt the best wedges Titleist have ever done, were the forged models of maybe ten years ago. I have the DL3 54* and the DD 59* and they are much better than the Vokeys IMHO. corky3
I still have some Zodias, which I love but fear have seen they are past their best now. Trouble is I can't make up my mind as what I should replace them with...... Epon X look fantastico, quite like the Tourstage (no surprises there then), always lusted after some Fourteens....... decisions decisions.... There is a good amount of write up on the Epons, but what about the TS's? Kent
